I'm almost all set to buy a Halo Triton setup. I can get prefilled cartomizers, regular sized tanks and mini tanks. Gives me several avenues to explore before I settle on anything, and all from one place. I can't use Blu cartomizers in emergency situations, but I can always get Blu disposables from Walgreen's if I run out of anything. The Blu disposables aren't prefect, but they've been good to me at work the last few days.

A few more questions, if I may...

How long do tanks typically last?

Should I dedicate tanks to specific flavors? I can see how I'd get cross-contamination between say, vanilla and menthol.

Edit: I take it I just replace the head rather than the entire tank. How often do those typically get replaced?

Just to bring this thread full circle...

Got a Halo Triton starter kit, some XL cartos, and 7ml juices of Tiki Juice, Tribecca, Longhorn, HX3 and Menthol Ice, all from Halo. Couldn't be happier. The gear seems rock solid, and all the juices I've tried so far (have two left to try) are awesome.

Thanks abqDave! Halo wouldn't have been on my radar without your suggestion.

I also want to stay with a smaller sized battery and for outdoor photography, hiking, hunting and fishing I may just stay with the disposables. The Joye-e-Cab and the Joye e-Roll are good size but both are tank systems. For carrying in your pocket the e-Roll in it's charger case looks great. I would worry about breaking the tip off the battery in my pocket with other units unless you unscrewed them, then you possibly will have leakage. Just my thoughts from my little bit of knowledge, like you, I'm a newbee but learning.

The Halo Triton is a tank system, but you can use cartomers with it too. I got a 4 pack of XL cartomers with my order.

Haven't carried the Halo with the tank in my pocket yet, but carried it around with a cartomizer. No issues whatsoever. The starter kit comes with a cone that screws on and covers a good portion of the cartomizer. Makes it seem more durable to me.

If you're thinking size and portability, the Triton is far smaller than it seems. Here's some real-world perspectives on size, rather than measurements in mm (I have the 650 mah battery) -

The battery has the same diameter as a AA battery.
With an XL cartomizer, it's a little shorter than a capped sharpie marker (I don't have a sharpie around to compare length with a tank)
With an XL cartomizer, it's slightly longer than a Blu disposable.
- Its about 1 plastic top cap's length longer
- I'd imagine with a regular cartomizer it would be the same length or slightly shorter than a Blu disposable

If you can keep a Blu disposable on you comfortably, there's no reason you can't do the same with a Triton 650 mah battery and XL cartomizer. It's just slightly bigger. I was worried about it too until I bought it. So glad I bought it. I'm the type than never throws anything away, and I threw out my Blu disposable once I tried the Triton. The Blu disposable is a poor excuse for an ecig compared to the Triton.

As for tanks vs cartomizers, the tanks are so much better. The cartomizers are far more than adequate, but they're not in the same league. The cartomizers are perfect for on the go IMO.

Not trying to hype up the Triton. Just telling you my experience with it. I couldn't be happier. If all that's holding you back is the size of it, I'm pretty sure you won't have any complaints.

People kinda trashin Blu. Is it that bad?

I've only used their disposables. The Menthol Ice wasn't bad. The Classic Tobacco tasted disgusting, but one person's disgusting is another's delicious.

For me, they were adequate to get me through the work day. No way they'd get me through the entire day - I'd smoke 2 cigarettes in the first half hour after work, cigs in the morning, night, etc. If they were my only option, I'd really struggle, but I might have been able to switch completely eventually.

From what I've gathered, the disposables are better than their starter packs/non-disposables. I've heard from a Blu vaper (only person I've ever seen vape) and from reading online that the disposables have more vapor, throat hit and flavor than the non-disposables. Combine that with the disposables are 24mg of nicotine and the cartos are max 18mg, and IMO it's not a great system.

My Halo Triton is 100 times better than the Blu disposables. The starter kit was cheaper, the juices are cheaper and far better tasting. No contest IMO. That's not a Halo ad. I'm sure there's stuff equally good out there.

The only advantage I see to Blu is I can get their stuff in Walgreen's. Haven't found a local store to get ejuice of any kind here in Albany, NY.

Tho I began vaping with a starter kit....it wasn't long before I knew I needed something more like a mod to quit smoking. Throwing caution to the wind I researched looking for a mod the was hassle free with a big juice bottle and big battery plus one that wouldn't leak. So 3 year ago I took a giant leap and bought a REO and been smoke free ever since.
