Hey everyone,

I am new to everything vapeable and I am trying to find a kit or setup that would work well. I was hoping that I could scrounge something up for between 20-30$. Money is quite tight and I don't want to invest a ton of money in something I am not 100% on yet. I was looking at this mini ego kit at cloudsofvapor Mini eGo Kit - Black I am not sure if it is any good. I read a thread here on ecf that a few people said they liked it. and I was also looking into maybe an ego twist but it seems like it can cost a bit more to find a kit with that or to piece together my own. Do you know of any other cheap reliable-ish kits or setups that would work? I am not looking for anything too crazy. I think it will only get used maybe, once or twice a week. So basically I just want to dip my feet into the world of vapeing and was wondering what would be a good place to start.

Thank you :)
Jess

That kit will work fine if you are just trying vaping out and not going full time like most of us did - the battery is about 450 mah (or smaller) and it looks like a 1.6 ml regular clearo - I would order some 510 empty cartomizers (or prefilled 510 carto's if available from what ever juice vendor you go with) or V-Nano's (small clearomizer - about .9 ml capacity) if you are going to try different flavors as switching flavors in clearos is time consuming

and my normal warning to new vapors - some juices will break plastic clearo's - cinnamon, citrus, cola and mint flavors to name a few

I don't think you're going to be spending $20-$30 on your first setup, especially if you're wanting to get a kit.

That being said, you can get a 650 mAh Volcano Inferno battery (lasts me all day) for $19.99, the USB cord charger (which plugs into any USB port) for $4.99, a single Tube Tank (comes with the tank, cartomizer, and drip tip) for $16.99, along with a juice of your choice (flavors of the week go for $8.99) for a total of a little over $50, which also qualifies you for free shipping in the US.

All in all, you can get the Inferno kit which includes all that and a lot more for $74.99.

But considering you're only looking for something cheap and extremely moderate as far as usage, just go to your local gas station and pick up one of the ones they have for $10. You'll get the idea of vaping and see from there if you want to take it to the next level.

if you're only going to vape once or twice a week, my guess is a disposable cig would do.
however if you think you'll like vaping and will get into it, i would suggest getting an ego twist kit. i personally jumped over the cig alikes and started with a twist, and a whole ton of people here have started with cig alikes and made the jump because it wasnt a satisfying vape.
for about 70 bucks you can get a twist, tank and juice.

After vaping and failing twice previously (I was a heavy smoker), I tried again in February 2013 and was able to easily quit. The reason: the equipment, batteries, clearomizers and e-liquid has come a long way since my first attempt at vaping four years ago. I started again successfully this time with stronger batteries and a good clearomizer. Also, strong e-liquid (24 mg/ml). I have not smoked in four months. I attribute this to the fact that vaping is now completely satisfying, and, for the most part, not a gigantic hassle the way it was in years past. A couple of recommendations: 1) get a battery that will last you all day like a 650 mAh or 1000 mAh ego. Get a good clearomizer that will hold a couple of ml of eliquid so you're not constantly filling it up. With an ego charger, this will run you about $30. Liquid will add to this. With shipping, you're probably good to go for $40 or so.

Indeed...I started on the Blu and quickly made the jump due to low satisfaction (not to mention the batteries are terrible). Jess, I would definitely start out with something better than a cig alike to get a real idea of what vaping is about. Agreeing with lostm4n: twist, tank and juice.

Only once or twice a week? Are you a smoker gootenbeez?

I used to smoke analogs and a hookah then moved to just using a hookah but mine has since broken into tiny little pieces and I was thinking switching to this might be a better alternative.

I was looking to get some juice from Alice in Vapeland. I don't think I have heard of any issues with them destroying clearos, I am pretty sure I would be safe with those?

Hi Jess, glad you could make it. Welcome to the forum.

My best and first recommendation is to try to find a vape shop close to you that will let you taste their e-liquids. That's how I got my first taste and never looked back.

As you will have gathered from the other posts in this thread, the lowest cost setups are not going to give you the best experience and may turn you off before you really get to see what vaping can be like.

If you bear that mind, the lowest cost of entry is a disposable. It would be costly in the long run but will save you money if you decide that vaping is really not your bag of tea.

I started vaping with disposables. I liked the experience, but I was not happy with the nicotine delivery. I originally had purchase a smoktech 510 dual coil kit and it is still collecting dust under my bed. The mini ego was my 2nd kit and wow did it make a huge difference. The mini ego battery and a clearomizer is an easy, cost effective way to try out vaping. You fill up the clearomizer, attach it to the battery, and you are set up. The mini ego battery just works better and really isn't much bigger than the 510s.

Goot, I see that you are in Syracuse. If you want to get juice without ordering, there are a couple Brick and Mortars around you. It's Unique Ecigs and they have 3 local shops. There is a kiosk in the Great Northern mall. The main store is on the corner of Rte 11 and Rte 31 in Cicero. And they have one in the plaza behind Heid's.

They have some good flavors and they also sell gear in case you need a new clearo or want to upgrade.

I am so glad you are here. There isn't much in this area to begin with so I am glad to hear there are some places I can go. Thank you.

Thank you everyone for all your advise. I will keep all of this in mind as well as share it will a few girls in my makeup group that are interested in starting vaping! <3

Unique Ecigs is really good about letting you try out their gear and liquids in the store. Make a date of it with your friends so they can all try it.
