First post here, found a lot of good information - nice site!

I have an ecig using disposable cartomizers and have been looking for a tank that I can refill without removing the cart or using a needle. I ran across this thread:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tank-reviews/303526-valley-view-vapes-polypro-tanks.html

This is exactly what I was looking for! The only problem is I have a V2 cig which has the 808 threads (I think) and these tanks take "510" threads. So... What I'm looking for is advice on a good 510 manual battery, and if you think I should get the SR or LR version of the tank (which I assume means standard & low resistance?) I see alot of people here have the 510 "Silver Bullet" but my gosh that sucker is expensive! I've also heard that the dual-coil (LR?) tanks need at least a 1000 mAhr battery; I COULD use an adapter, since my current V2 is a USB "laptop" model, which never runs out of juice as long as it's plugged in, but I have no idea where to find a reliable adapter that would work. I googled & found some that looked promising, but with mixed reviews.

Actually, getting both would be good for me: an adapter for my USB pass-through V2 with 808 threads (for me) and a good 510 battery for my son, who's trying to switch from analog but keeps burning through the cartridges that I give him. Then they taste all burnt when I refill them because he runs them dry.

Thanks! Any advice would be appreciated...

Hi Mark and welcome to ECF!

Yes, as you've already found, you can use an adapter for other 510 style juice systems. The tank you referenced is what is called a MAP (Mom and Pop) tank. The little screw on the side looks strange but does greatly simplify filling. This tank is quite popular. It like many tanks, uses a cartomizer to vaporize the juice. The cartomizer is disposable - when it clogs/gunks up in a week or so, throw it out and replace it.

Stay far away from the dual coil cartomizers, especially with your V2 and the PV's I recommend below. Go with single coil cartomizers whose resistance matches the voltage output on your PV. Again, the PV's I list below should generally be used with 2.0 - 2.5 ohm cartomizers.

The KGO is a popular fixed voltage ecig with 510 threading. It has a 3.7 V output that is able to drive any type of juice system within the resistance range I mentioned.

Very similar to the KGO above, is the died voltage E Power. It's advantage is that the batteries are replaceable and inexpensive. Long term, this is an excellent choice.

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - EGO E-Power

Wile this may or may not be your cup of tea at this point, many are jumping directly into variable voltage devices. A well respected, economical, very portable variable voltage PV is the EGO Twist.

I'm not necessarily recommending these venders so much as giving you place to explore these devices. That said, each vender above is respected and referenced here frequently.

Hope this helps.

What about an adapter for my 808 V2 USB pass-through? That might be a better (cheaper) place for me to start. Also, can I use my V2 carts with the "Mom & Pop" tank? I've got plenty of those... Not sure if they're the right size or not, and they are wrapped in paper so I'm not sure they'll seal either.

As far as the carts failing, I've heard that has more to do with using VG instead of PG. I've read on the v2cigs site where people refill their carts 20+ times, but they're using the thinner PG (no VG at all). I think that's what V2 cells in most of their flavors anyway. Although, I do like the 50/50 PG/VG mix that I tried - alot smoother going down.

Thanks for the links. I'll look them over when I have more time...

Is that V2 passthrough a 5 volt? If so, it should work, although it'll look alittle weird IMHO. Yes, you can get an 808 to 510 adapter and go that route. The ONLY type of carto you should be using in a tank is a stainless steel carto (with a hole punched in the carto so juice can get from the tank into the carto to vape). While PG is thinner than VG, and VG has a tendency to gunk up more quickly, cartos are disposible regardless. They can be refilled several times before they go bad, but you will have to replace them.

MAP stands for Most Angry Pirates.

LS! A tank like that, is just not going to work with your mini KR808D, which I presume you have. WAY to top heavy, and you will need an adapter. The 808 is as thin as a pen. Those tanks are big! You need a bigger battery like Flyer suggested, or maybe a clearomizer for your current 808 batteries....
Hopefully, someone else will come along to help you.

Hi Mark,

I will agree the SB's are expensive, but one of the things I looked at with them is replacing the batteries in the long run is a lot cheaper than say the ego's batteries as well as not being regulated to the 3.3 volts. I went with the BB myself as it is a bit smaller than the SB, only downside to that is I can not use a kick in it later if I decide I wanted to. Also if you like them on facebook you can get a 10% discount code.

I also use the Vivi Nova Tank on it, it and the BB are almost the exact same size around so it doesn't look strange. The long run savings between the two makes it a great set up for me.

Wow, a lot of replies in such a short time :)

Most V2 carts are much shorter than cartomizers. Check their website to match cartomizers and tanks. They may also have the 808-510 adapters. If not, I just bought one at electronicstix.com

V2Cigs has an adapter so you can use THEIR carts with OTHERS batteries, but not the other way around.

Dragonbone, this is where I get so confused. What's the difference between an "808" and a "KR808D"? How can I tell what kind I have?

I think the V2 notebook cig is just passing the 5vdc USB power straight through - I haven't measured it yet, but pretty sure it's not regulating it down any. In any case, it makes way more vapor than the 3.8 battery, even on a full charge.

I'm going to go with an adapter and make a silly-looking tank-on-a-stick for now, and save some pennies for a better battery later on. This is kind of fun - this and the eliquid mixing reminds me of when I was making my own beer...

Not to be rude but you are right this the Mom and Pop Vapor Shop submarine style tank, but MAP stands for Most Angry Pirate creator of MAP tanks and the DCT. As I said I am not trying to be rude, there is just a plethora of tanks out there but a MAP and a submarine are totally different. As to the OP I can not speak for these tanks but they to seem to be along the same style of Mom and Pop's submarine and mini submarine tanks. The subs have by far been the best carto tank I have used zero leaking and the screw hole on the side is perfect, plus mom and pop's price for a superior product and customer service that is unmatched is also a plus.

I also use a SB. Well actually two of them(chrome and silver vein). I chain vape 6 to 8 ml daily. Every morning I put in a fresh CRG18650CH battery. I have four in rotation. Simple and effective. I use Vivi nova's, CE3's, and my DID rebuild-able tank atomizer on them. I couldn't be happier. Sure the outlay of cash is a little high at first, but well worth it. Plus the top notch service and support at Altsmoke. If and when you decide to get a SB, make sure you get a couple of extra hotsprings. What this does is collapse and drop the battery in-case of a short. Shorts can and do happen.

Something else that you may want to look into if you ever decide to use a needle to fill are the CE3's. Very clean vape and they are serviceable. The are even available with the 808 threading.

vivi nova v2.5 :) 14.99 and comes with 3 different ohm attys (its rebuildable)
No idea why people are still using tanks with cartos in them .. Unless it gives a taste they like better. Cartos just arent for me at all ... Surrounded by a tank or not.

Different people like different things, like my bf loves his carto tank, I prefer my vivi nova. Not only is it easier for me, but only takes me a couple minutes to recoil the heads and for around $10 I have enough wire and cotton to last me a year.

Gotvapes has the Vivi Nova- older version has short wick while newer version has long wick for better wicking. Diff between carto/ tank and clearo/ Vivi is there's no filler in Vivi.
GotVapes Vision ViVi Nova™ V2.5 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

cartomizer/ carto- metal tube with stuffing and element.
carto+tank- a carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates carto by way of hole in carto.
Clearomizer- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing.
I now use Stardusts but when I was using carto+ tank cartos were lasting about 2 weeks before getting tight. Realize with ALL tanks flavors will be muted.

Where's a good place to pick one up? I'd like to do a comparison between the valley vapes tanks and the vivi nova 2.5. I found one site but they were out of stock, and altsmoke doesn't carry the 2.5

Thanks
