Looking to you fine folks for the solution to my Kayfun woes...

So I bought a Kayfun lite to build my own coils and buy less pre-assembled coils for my nautilus. I have watched umpteen videos on filling these things, followed my fave B&M shop owner's advice, and yet I FAIL to wick and fill this sucker so that it does not leak...I found that by covering the side air hole when filling, I can prevent it from leaking out the air hole when I scew the lid on.

But now it is leaking out of the air screw on the bottom, and it's screwed in tight.

Also, the chamber floods after a few light pulls.
And one more thing, has anyone found their resistance jumping (by a lot) and eventually settling to what seems like a reasonable level?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated! The only other experience I've had with rebuilding is my dripper, which is super simple by comparison. Thanks folks!

Ok, well I have some guesses. For the resistanc:

1. Make sure your post screws are tight.
2. Make sure the positive block is straight and the 510 pin is fully tightened.

For the leaking:

1. Do a vacuum check. Plug airholes with your fingers and suck tight on the drip tip. If you get any air, you have a damaged or missing o ring, most likely.

If it passes the vacuum check, its your wicking or fill method. Get back to us after you check vacuum.

You are screwing the top on, with the atty UPSIDE DOWN correct? For this method, top fill, to work correctly some juice will get PUSHED into the chamber. If you plug the airholes that excess juice goes down the drip tip. You will then need to blow through the air holes or suck on the drip tip, to create a vaccum in the chamber. I blow throught the airhole, instead of sucking up a mouthfull of juice. I do the same basic proceedure on my side fill 3.1 and bottom fill kayfun bases, when filling from the fill holes. Rarely get any leakage from the airholes other than condensate. Or when changing altitude.

This is a real Kayfun light or a fake?
It's a clone. I went back to the B&M that sold it to me and the super nice lady who owns the shop showed me the trick for creating a vaccum in the tank so it doesn't leak. Now I have to remember to give it some time between vape sessions because I just very nearly just got one hell of a dry hit. ;)

It worries me that you are getting both flooding/leaking AND (near) dry hits. Usually one will preclude the other assuming everything else with the coil and wick is working properly. Or did the dry hits only start after the vape shop person did something to it?

It's also a bit strange that it's flooding when filling through the fill-port, I fill kayfuns pretty frequently straight from glass dropper bottles and aside from occasionally spilling some out the top it never floods the chamber. When you were trying to bottom fill did you see the juice flowing down into the tank, or did it all stay at the top around the fillport area?

The air hole on the side of the base, the screw underneath, and the inside of the base are all connected so if you get some juice in there and don't blow it out really well it can leak down for a little while after the source of the leak is gone. It's also normal for a little bit of condensation to form within all those air channels and eventually cause some minor juice accumulation on the bottom of the atty, so if it isn't leaking extreme amounts that's another possible cause.

Thanks for replying, Uncle Chuck. I know that when I wicked the RBA at home I used too much cotton for wicking on one attempt, and that it was actually blocking the juice channels -- it shouldn't take more than a minute or two to prime this coil if I put a couple of drops of juice on the coil before replacing the chimney. The flooding was the leaking through the air holes, which I seem to have figured out :) and blowing it gently out prevented the annoying gurgle we all know. I've been filling from the top because I don't have the syringe-type bottles and the juice gets everywhere when I attempt to use the fill screw. All in all it's a fiddly device until you get to know it, but I'm enjoying it now. :)
