You brought up soem great points in you post Darcy- will be waiting for his answers to them- I would think that the 22 hours included some sleep time- perhaps 8 hours, so that would actually bring the 'smoking time' down to 14 hours, and down further if he actually set it aside for a couple of hours durign hte day? These questions need to be addressed. I did a couple of reviews of the SmartFixx penstyle where I counted each puff (not too har to keep track of as I would smoke ten puffs each 'smoking urge', and stop or go to 20 puffs, and record the tally) and got to over 400 puffs on one cartridge and 350+ on another- both prefilled carts- but the taste and nicotine were kaput past 200- but htey did go well over 300 with good vapor) This would be a better way to judge the longevity of each loong cartridge I think- it's a bit of a pain to keep track of the numbers, but doen in groups of 10 or 20, it's not too difficult to keep a mental tally going.

If one loong cart can easily go 400 puffs, that would be = to 40 ciggs, or two packs of ciggs- then we could calculate cost vs. time by how many regular packs we smoke per day- I'm a 1 pack a day smoker, so if one loong cart lasts 2 packs worth, that woudl be two days worth of smokin for me- better way to judge how long it lasts than by hours because we would know exactly how many puffs each carts gives.

trust me the loong cart can easily go 400 puffs, now about the nicotine towards the end it dies out ,and like i said the flavour sucked from the start to finish,if the flavour was anything rather than plastic it would be the best e smoke ever i hope they can make more flavours in the future.
the smoke is crazy ,much more than a real smoke.
it cost me 250 australian dollars with 50 cartridges a bit high but what the fuuckkk,if it lasts its better than buying cheap ****t.

Some of us long ago postulated that a gel might work better than a liquid. When you open another, see if you can FEEL a difference in the way the liquids compare. A gel might prolong the smoking life of a cartridge by its density.

I agree Bob, a gel would certainly make the cart last longer. All it needs to be is heat sensitive so that it can produce the droplets needed to start the vaporizing process in normal atomizers.

OK, mixos mangled the atomizer and cart with his hilarious chopping open of it ... Mate, I nearly ...... myself when I saw you take to that poor wee cart with the garden shears, excellent stuff !

But from what I could see it looked rather like the heating coil may very well be in direct contact with the filler material, which appeared to be a coil of paper or some other material. That could account for the long life of the unit. If what I'm suggesting is correct then almost all of the area of the combined atomizer and cartridge in the V9 could be devoted to containing juice. There would of course need to be some form of baffling at the mouthpiece end to prevent juice from being sucked out. But I'd suggest that there maybe as much as 2ml in the cart area.

The pictures we've all seen of burnt material coming out of the guts of a cart from a few months back tend to support my theory. I'd also suspect that the burnt cart we saw had been sucked bone dry ... no liquid to prevent burning ... burning happens.

I may have to recant my early post about this being an expensive wee beastie to feed. If the carts are going to last a full day or longer then it definately becomes a viable alternative to the normal designs of e-misters we are using now.

Until I've tried this for myself I can't really comment fully on it, and yes I'm considering buying one.

mixos' comments about the flavour are a bit of a worry, but if as we suspect large quantities of everyones juice is being made by loong totem, it wont be long before a better range of flavours and strengths become available.

Is this the start of the new future for these things ? lets hope so.

mixos' comments about the flavour are a bit of a worry,

Me too- my mini SmartFixx tastes liek plastic and I can't stand the taste- I've got a feeling it's both because of the material of the Cartridge container itself, and because the plastic piece that hold's the cartridge in the mini's inplace touches the steel mesh and probably heats up

Was really hoping the loong coukld be injected with liquid to give it better flavor and to last logner- even just a couple of days would be cool- as well, we could boost the nicotine content with some higher e-liquid

I may take hte plunge- although the taste part of it is only hting that bothers me about it- I'm quite sick of atomizers dying on me- I'd actually stick with hte penstyle IF they had a better atomizer, or if they were say $20 for 5 pack though, but doesn't look like that's go9ign to happen anytime soon- unless these disposables force the issue of atomizer price reductions- Gah- wish the loong tasted better- only hting holding me back at htis point!

Mixos, are you certain you couldn't inject a syringe through the opening in the 'filter' end and puncture the membrane to refill the cartridge to change the taste with some yummy e-liquid to kill hte plastic taste maybe?

Leaford, if you can't afford them for yourself, perhaps you could afford buying htem for me then? Just a thought- think on it some :) Sorry bout the lost wages- hope it's healin well at least?

When or if I buy one ... the jury is still out, that's one of the things I'll be looking closely at.

But it kind of defeats the purpose of the design to refill it instead of replacing it.

I'm not 100% but looking again at mixos' vid it appears as though the heating coil, if it is indeed a coil, runs up the centre of the wadding rather than being at the base of the cartridge. I saw no sign of there being any metal wool in the vid, which if you've read my post on how normal atomizers work is an essential part of the operation. I'm thinking that a vertical heater element up through the centre core and possibly in direct contact with the wadding is how the V9 works and that because of this design, much more liquid can be stored in the unit.

It appears as though this maybe a more revolutionary departure from conventional designs than I first thought. Fascinating.

Just an update guys
I have spoken with the people from loongtotem via msn, they were very helpful indeed, i have placed an order for another 50 cartridges, of which will be a assortment of the various flavours that they have available (becuase the ones i have now suck) . I choose to go directly threw them seeing as smoke51's prices are so highly inflated. I recommend if you want to order this product go directly through loong totem as they are very helpful (even with the language barrier) and very fast to ship the item (my v9 was sent last friday and arrived on the tuesday).

Also later tonight i plan to take apart another atomiser and will take some better photos of the insides.

I bought one of these and yes quite a bit of smoke but the taste is horrible. It's almost tasteless but what is there isn't good. I'd compare it a bit to lighting a paper straw and sucking on that.

Doesn't taste like any cigarette I've ever smoked. It's a real shame as the concept is good, battery life good and cartridge life is good.

You could refill it I suppose. The small white plastic end you can pop out of the cartidge to reveal the insides. The cartridge consists of a tiny piece of wire wrapped in some paper looking stuff which holds the liquid.

Another nice touch with this e-cig is the cartidge being metal is then covered in a filter looking paper which gives it a more realistic cigarette feel in the mouth.

A question for mixos, how long are you able to drag on it before the red light goes out? I can only manage a couple of sections and have to do a couple of mini drags to get the thing pumping out smoke.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear that leaford, is that because of the broken toe and how did you manage to bust it ?
Yep, my part time job is as Hotel Security, and they couldn't accomodate my restrictions. And I busted it at my regular job, falling halfway off a loading dock. My regular job, however was able to accomodate my restrictions. That's the sucky part. The job where it happened, and where workman's comp would have covered any lost time, didn't even give me one day off. The job where I don't even have paid sick time I have to miss.

And worst part is another security officer is off right now for a hernia operation, so I would have been working extra hours if this hadn't happened.:-x:-x:grr:

good point darcy... maybe that is the reason why Philip was having issues?

interesting vid mixos ...

so they wrapped the atomizer or atleast a component of it. i wonder what that wrapping is made out of. does look pretty cheaply made, which is a good thing in the disposable world.

its a cheap cloth or something like it inside but cheaply as it might be its a killer smoke machine ,smart cheap and simple ideas are sometimes the best,i am still amazed how hard it is to open the cartridge ,anyway i hope i helped everone here.see ya lads

now i am waiting to try the other flavours and i hope they are better,[BECAUSE THIS IS A SHOCKER OF A TASTE]if i get a good flavour i will never change my v9 NEVER NEVER NEVER
