I have Lorann butterscotch, but it didn't really work for me either. I think its a flavor that needs something sweet to open it up. It might taste better with a little ethyl maltol, which is one of the safer and atty-friendly ways of sweetening juices, although I haven't tried it yet.

I use ALOT of butterscotch in one of my all day vape mixes but it also has a hint of caramel, vanilla and english toffee....

I found the butterscotch does need a little of something else to bring out the flavor but I mix with VG as well so dont know if that makes a difference.

I use alot of butterscotch/toffee/butter rum so those I leave the bottle open for a day or so, but stuff that I use a little of like cotton candy or the flavourart tobacco flavors I mix the pg/vg & flavoring together and let it sit uncovered and it mellows the bitter stingy chemically taste out.
I had to crack down with writing stuff down, so I keep post-its and a pencil handy now- kept making the same vile crap over and over again.

From Wikipedia: Ethyl maltol, 2-ethyl-3-hydroxy-4-pyrone, 2-ethyl pyromeconic acid, or C7H8O3 is an analog of maltol, where the methyl group on maltol is substituted with an ethyl group. It is a stable white crystalline powder at room temperature and easily dissolves in many polar liquids. Ethyl maltol has a melting point of between 89 and 93 °C, and a boiling point of 161 °C.

This chemical has a sweet odor that can be described as caramalized sugar and cooked fruit. It is an important flavourant for the food, beverage, and fragrance industry. Ethyl maltol is non-toxic, highly pleasant to human sense of smell, and easily detected by the human, with as little as 10 parts per million perceivable in air.

PGA is Pure Grain Alcohol.

I have not tried Ethyl Maltol in my DIY stuff but I am seriously considering it. For now I use liquid sucralose (Splenda) to sweeten and enhance certain flavors..butterscotch is one of them.

FYI....butterscotch is good with Capella's Vanilla Custard.

Thanks for that post about the ethyl maltol, I have also been looking for a way to sweeten my juices and read that somewhere else but only like one other post.
I have also read post about adding honey or cotton candy, but had no luck with that. The honey just over powers the taste and the cotton candy doesn't sweeten enough.
Now increasing VG does help a lot but I still want it sweeter.

Thanks

Lorann's butterscotch ruined 2 of my atomizers. Reading around I found that the artificial colorings are bad and clog atomizers. Cleaning the 2 atomizers brought them back. After some testing with various loranns flavors I find the claim to artificial colorings clogging atomizers to be correct. All flavorings that have little to no color simply vape better.

Butterscotch was wonderful for the first day or so though. I am experimenting with what I had left over from the original mix. I put a few drops in a base of other flavorings like Bavarian Creme. Seems to be ok when used in tiny amounts.

Rootbeer has the exact same behavior. I believe rootbeer loranns might actually be worse... still tastes ok though.
