So, I have been lightly dipping into DIY for some of my juice lately, and I got started with some LorAnn's flavors because they were easy to find. I made a batch of watermelon that is de-frickin'-licious, and a grape that is good, but I don't vape it much because there is too much food coloring in it.

So I move to the strawberry. Same base mix (30/70 PG/VG, about 10mg nic strength, about 15-20% flavor) but the flavor is nonexistant. It tastes just like the plain base mix. I tried adding a little more strawberry flavor, nothing.

So I mixed it about half and half with some leftover cantaloupe I had from madvapes that I thought had a bit too much TH...

And the flavor completely dissapeared!!! No cantaloupe, no strawberry, nothing. Weird, I thought. I have monkeyed around with the strawberry by going almost all PG and all VG in small batches and also gotten the same effect, no flavor.

But here's the killer- ten minutes after a decent vape session with my "flavorless" strawberry, I coughed a little bit. And the cough actually tasted a little like strawberry.

Is it just me? Have other people had similar experiences? I know after poking around a bit that LorAnn's seems to be the least liked of the flavorings used, if this is why then I guess I learned my lesson.

It could be you. It could be the flavoring. It's really hard to say.

I do lots of experiements and friends will stop by and ask to take my "failures" off my hands. I make another strawberry that really sucks to my tastes, but one of those friends loves it. Says it tastes great and has asked me to mix her up some. I thought it tasted like strawberry koolaide powder mixed in acetone. Who's right? Both of us.

It's all about finding what works for you. Loranns Strawberry is not one of yours.

(Those same friends will let me know if a sample they got from me really stunk for them too. I had one experiment that got me 2 different phone calls that each had over 30 minutes of unsavory adjective filled tirades. Hey, I warned them that thing smelled good but vaped like $H!t, and I got to have a good laugh at their expense.)

you will find that a lot of lorann's flavors work great there are a few that just a really low or even just useless. the strawberry can be one of them it has been a bit since a mixed, But I would suggest that ya go back get another dram they are only 99 to a 1.15 look at the color. Since this is more for candy and I am sorry I just don't see people making their own hard candies any more it could be old stock.
Look at the color it should be a nice pink, shouldn't be cloudy try to get the darkest pink that they have with what is in stock.
If ya want I'll go look at my old mixing supplies and see if I still have any, if so I'll take a pic of what your looking for.

If you have to check the color or whatever to make sure your batch isn't bad, do you really want to be using Loranns?

I'm too lazy to dig out my quote from Mr Tasty Vapor about how he got inconsistent product from them (with random brown chunks floating in caramel or something)... yet again... Why are people still using this stuff?

People are still using 'this stuff' because everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and don't rely on mr tasty to tell them what tastes good.
Personally, I agree with the previous posters. Some things that Loranns makes are quite good (for instance, *I* THINK that Loranns champagne is a far better choice than TPA) . On the flip side; some of the LA flavors are very artificial tasting.
There is a fantastic guide by Nikhil in the stickies. He goes into depth about the various drop companies and their strengths and weaknesses. Taste is also very subjective, so what one may find repulsive, another may love... And vice versa. Best to just read as much as possible and then experiment.

Also- LA has recently changed the labelling. The new lables are white with a pinkish red trim.
