That youtube made me cry. No matter how severe your state is, once someone hears mental disorder and connects it to you, you can just watch all of your friends become hospital 'guards', if they don't fully understand to begin with. It's not always paranoia, and what is received is not always protection or help. Those youtubes seriously broke me down just now, literal tears; especially since I just read in the newspaper I was using to pack dishes (in the house of a bereaved loved one - the closest thing I had to a gal pal since moving 2500 miles away from home) that a drug I was prescribed was basically being pedaled through the area by some guy who was making Astra Zeneca tons of money, through doctors who were prescribing to such an excess that it ended up in a mass lawsuit. Imagine how I felt trying to tell people that I didn't like that medicine just to hear them tell me to 'take it for now' knowing that was just supposed to shut me up. The side effects were almost completely inward - hallucinations, nightmares, weight gain, depression, but everyone was so busy being helpful by telling me to do what was best that no one noticed or no one believed that it was just plain worse. Don't even get me started on the small but noticeable benefits that go to someone who lives with someone who is 'not well'.
Please excuse me for the venting, part of it stems from the fact that no one has said a word about the whole drug issue, so now I'm worried that bringing up the idea of trying something different will open a whole new can of worms. THE POINT IS only you can live for you. The stupid things you do don't provide that you might lay their blame somewhere else and the productive things you do will never benefit anyone (not even someone visibly receiving credit) the way they will benefit you. It's always going to be worth it to go through the process of making it better because while others can help, only you can put yourself where you need to be.
By the way, I think the laugh I got from that poster really set me up for the emotion provoked by that video
If I got my hands on one I would display it proudly though!
