I've seen those pics and asked him if I could have him post them here or give me permission to post them here a few weeks back and I never heard anything back.

They had the bottom plate removed (how he did it I have no idea), the whole mouth piece and airflow assembly totally out of the pod. Same with the fill port. Then he ran wires from the contact pins through the pod to the fill port hole to one of the tiniest 510 connectors I ever seen. It really looked great. I have no such tiny 510 connectors, or I would do the same.
This is the 510 that would be best if you can locate one.

The challenge with doing the 510 mod is that

"unlike most of the dna boards, the Go has a VERY narrow working range in terms of resistance. Basically .2-.4 ohms, and that's total resistance, not cold resistance."

Now the 510, your solder job, and your atty, all add to that "total resistance". This means your coil builds have to be spot on to stay within the range.

Uhm, perhaps I am not understanding this ... why would they design and ship it with .5 ohm pods if those are 'out of spec' for the board?

The .5, while outside the optimal range of the board, was deemed appropriate for the MTL (aka tootle) vapors. It gives a weaker hit but it is enough for many folks. The vast majority of testers preferred the .25 ohm pods. The way it is marketed is use .25 for DL and .5 for MTL. The board will work outside the .2 to .4 range, but for it to really shine you need to be in that range.

Ah yes good question. But I am not Evolv, nor have a contract with them. So I can only guess like you. But by using them, I believe the .25 pods are a better fit for them. As the .5 pods tends to not last so long before burning. And so far it is looking like here that 11 watts can burnout a .5 pod, but it takes 15 watts to do the same to the .25 pods.

Ah Mike post just showed up. Yeah that makes sense. :)

Nice that it came apart with isopropyl. There were a couple posts about a more specialized solvent but isopropyl is much more readily available. Not worth it for me though.
As I mentioned in another post, the view isnt worth the climb. Unless you want do the 510 mod for giggles. Definitely not worth rebuilding these (for me anyway) as opposed to buying a replacement pod. If you use unflavored juice in them (not salts though), I have had a pod last for months.

Another "gotcha" if you rebuild them is you have to make damn sure you glue it back together well, or it WILL leak. Once I glued mine back together my ISO trick didnt work for taking it apart again. My glue created too good of a bond and actually melted\fused the plastic together at the seam. I dont know what kind of adhesive Lost Vape uses but the ISO works to soften it.

It would be nice if you weren't that vague in terms of the performance of the board. Do you have spec for the operating range (min/max output V & I)? It doesn't really matter what the max output is since it is way too high for such a small battery.
The ideal use imho is MTL or restricted DTL and if Lost Vape were smart enough to design the pods the correct way, this would have been a perfect mod for out and about.
I can't wait for other companies to come out with DNA GO devices. I'm hoping I can get a board and make a 3D printed one during Christmas vacation when I'll have some free time.

Having used the device for 2 weeks now here are my thoughts.

The device is beautiful and very well made. I have been waiting for the technology to get here and Evolv have managed this with the DNA GO board. I believe that these sort of devices can and should be the future of mainstream vaping. Discrete, easy to use, reliable and with a good vaping experience.

The ergonomics obviously aren't great, with this being a cuboid; however it is so small that it doesn't really matter. The button on the other hand, should really switch places with the locking mechanism, so that it sits a bit higher up.

Looking forward to other improvements that future devices can make are:
a) replaceable battery
b) option for rebuildable pods (similar to billet box)

Finally, let's come to the biggest flaw of the Orion, the Pods. It was obvious from the moment I opened this kit that it wasn't going to be a great MTL with such a big empty space in the chamber. I made an illustration of how easily this can be fixed by merely building a small shaft just below the mouthpiece that helps in minimising the space of the chamber and directs vapour directly from the coil to the mouth. I cannot understand how the Orion was in beta for so many months, yet this glaring issue with the MTL pods was left unchanged. Give this device to any experienced MTL vaper and he will find the flaw within a few minutes.

However, forcing me to vape this in restricted DTL, I do have to say that I experienced one crucial thing that I was aware of, I neglected its importance until now. Most of my juices taste very different when providing more airflow, i.e. different range of temperatures. Some taste better, others worse. Having vaped MTL consistently for the last 7 years, I have been ignorant of the importance of this.

The MTL vape on Orion on low is a bit harsh, but still ok for me using .50 pod.
I found the MTL vape fair but not in the same zip code with what I like so I am using the Orions as restricted DL, out and about ,easy to carry , sneak a vape devices. My favorite MTL devices (by a country mile) are my Billet Box with MF bridge and 1.3 ohm EUC coils. I liked so much, I ended up with three Billet Boxes.

I am vague because I dont work for Evolv, I am only a beta tester. I have not seen a datasheet yet so I cant be more specific. I am only quoting what the Evolv engineers have shared with me.

Trust me, I am very frustrated about the lack of a datasheet, as I am getting some boards (not mods) to play with soon and would love to know all the specs before I design a mod.

May as well fill out the top half of the chamber too.

If you get a chance, look at how the air comes into the chamber, you will see how easy it would be to improve the way the air hits the coil.

I am always baffled as to why the manufacturers restrict the air at the inlet instead of the outlet, I guess then they can say it has adjustable air control.
Try it with your garden hose and see what kind of "forceful" stream you get one way vs the other.
It needs to have it's reduction at the coil end.

yes despite what bill will argue until he's blue in the face...just restricting the airflow doesn't make for a good mtl experience.
It's definitely not tight enough all the way around to make it great. It's decent but it's much better at restricted dtl and airy mtl.

I hope you weren’t offended. I was just interested in hearing specifics.
Personally I don’t care if it doesn’t reach 30W above 0.4Ω. I care more about efficiency and being able to build at a bit higher than 0.4. I’ll send an email myself and try and get some info, although I suspect you have way more clout with them than I do.
