I REALLY wanted a cup or 2 or 3 this morning, but was having fasting blood work done. Arrgh! Wish they'd figure out how to do it without the fasting part!!
That's one area I'm lucky in...;) I arrange a time for a ride....when I know I'll just be waking up...set the coffee to brew before leaving. The lab is less than 5 minutes away in a car...there are never any waits and I'm home within 15 minutes of leaving, to my freshly brewed, hot coffee...:D

Dare I touch on this subject? In conversation with a friend last night about this topic, I asked if she knew anything about McCarthy, because that's what it's beginning to feel like to me, and...ran across this article this morning....;)

Sexual McCarthyism - OffBeat Magazine

I think the floodgates have opened and there's probably more to come. Many women figured their careers would be over and they were probably right back then. Now that the cats out of that very big bag any guy who even smiled at a woman can get nailed right along with the really guilty ones. No way to prove a lot of it.

Exactly! And that's what has me worried...not every male is evil personified, and...not every female is a saint...;)

Hubs always cheats on the fasting. Has a 1/2 cup coffee.

Does he take milk in his coffee? I've often thought I could get away with drinking some if it was black but my half and half is a must.

@yiddleboge6 - Our lab is 10+ minutes from us, but there's often a bit of a wait, long enough for me to start drooling while thinking about my coffee waiting at home. I hit the brew switch just before leaving. Of course I woke up 2 hours earlier than appointment time so there was plenty of time to think about not being able to eat or drink anything... that was not helpful.

Anybody else have a problem with that little waiting dots bar at the top of the screen when you try to post something? I hit post reply and those little dots just sit there blinking. If I do a refresh it seems to post and the dots disappear. Very strange.

I've only had to wait once....for the only other person who had arrived before me... Every other time there has been no other patient in sight...:D

That's just one of many glitches and problems that have been occurring since they moved to the new server...hopefully they have everything running smoothly again soon...;)

I have a similar story... and I believe many women do....but I didn't slug anyone either...cuz i'm a lady;).....but i'm the sort that either cussed the man out LOUDLY...or, if still necessary, slapped him a good one.

A lot of this behavior, at least in my experience, is based on showing domination and power. Many many women are afraid to speak out about this so I think that all the ones that are now doing so openly are gaining "strength in numbers", so to speak.

But... I also feel that anyone should be considered innocent till proven guilty or at least have a preponderance of other instances from other offended parties.

Will someone help me off this box? it's really high...

I agree, a power trip. After all, our society did evolve (barely!) from one where women were property, and the mindset of being able to do what you want with your property continues in too many men.

(Well, OK, if it really IS property, maybe that's ok. But living beings are not property!! (I've often said that any thing I own is for sale, although things with great sentimental value have a price no one is likely to want to pay! My spouse, my children, my cats? Nope, they are not things, not for sale. But if you want to buy our custom made wedding rings, they're yours for a mere 10 Million ;) ))

The current societal discussion is important, and long overdue, although like you, Janet, I wonder how far it may go. Yes, women need to speak up and take some more active part in correcting the problem, and imo, if that's done at the time the results will be better. While knowing that, 20 - 30 - 40 years ago, the fears of not being believed, of losing jobs was quite real, as those things did (and probably still do) happen (the women accusing Judge Moore are being called liars, all of them... so are the ones accusing Trump, he says, although the lesser number accusing, say, Franken, are, per Trump, telling the truth  ), today the ubiquitous smart phone could be a very good tool. Some perp whips it out, video it for evidence. And scream rape as loud as possible.

..very VERY acceptable!

I agree with Willie on that, so's Claire ;)

Last time I had fasting bloodwork done, I brought my fresh hot coffee with me. I suspect she would have laughed if I had started drinking the sugared milky confection WHILE she was pulling out the blood.

My long time DR has never required a fasting period prior to Blood Work .. I believe the reason being :: He always does an A1C test and pays no attention to the fasting blood glucose test ..

Currently, I am on 2 Blood Pressure meds .. and they got me down to near the "old" standard .. now, as I understand it, the "new" standard is ::

"Americans with blood pressure of 130/80 or higher should be treated, down from the previous trigger of 140/90, according to new guidelines announced on Monday by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology."

So, since I do suffer from a couple of three chronic conditions o_O .. (liver, heart, blood sugar issues, I like to call them the Trifecta .. ;)) .. we'll see what happens at my 6-month checkup in early January ..

I also suffer from "Dr Office Blood Pressure Phobia" (DOBPP) .. when the nurse initially takes the reading, it can be quite high .. 180/125 not unusual .. so, I am always required to sit in the chair and meditate for a few minutes after the first reading .. at which time, things get back to normality .. the Nurse is not wearing a Bikini or thong, so, I know it's not that causing it .. in fact, she's closer to Frau Blücher .. ;)

It's funny you should say that, David, since that's pretty much been my motto forever .. other than a few sentimental attachments, I'll sell anything as long as the "Price is Right" .. ;)
