Weather yoyo continues, and I forget which end we're on today...

Boy, are we getting some rain this week. Sure glad we got both yards mowed this weekend. Perry even mowed my aunt's lawn for her because it was pretty tall.

I have been doing my drops 4 times a day, and I am ready for my Wednesday cataract surgery. I am not sure what to expect, but I do not think it will be bad. I wish they were doing both eyes like they did a woman at the Moose Lodge. Oh well, it will be fine.

Morning, all.

Still cool and dry, low 60s most of the week, maybe some drips over the weekend, but nothing big.

Yes, it WILL be fine. Pretty routine these days.

Yeah, nice to get them both done and out of the way .... but then you'd be wearing two eye patches for a few days to a week. Perry would have to be your seeing eye dog.

I guess I drew the lucky card, eye wise .. my exam last year the DR stated .. 'your eyes are in amazingly good shape for a guy your age' .. still ended up with a new set of bifocals, but only +2 on the nearsighted side and very little on the farsided end of things .. no hint of Cataracts, Glaucoma, Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Eye patch? Not when I got mine done. Just special eye drops for a week or so.
I had to wear a perforated translucent plastic protector over my eye for a week after my surgeries.

So far I've only needed a new lens (cataract surgery) in one eye, he other is still fine. But, for years, TRIfocals :)
Did you ever use progressive lens glasses. Just wondering how trifocals compare to progressives. I've gotten along fine for 20 years with progressives but my newest pair after the double cataract surgery I'm having a dang hard time getting adjusted to.

Might have something to do that I didn't wear glasses at all for 5 or 6 month's except for reading. The new progressives are fine for mid and far distance (things are definitely a bit sharper) but the near vision I'm trouble with a narrow field of vision and geometric distortions of the rectangles of the windows on my laptop.

I've not done the cataract surgery, but have eyes that are really picky about the brand/version of the progressive lenses used in my frames. I would check with the optician to see if they used the same lenses in both the old and new glasses, and have them mark up the new ones to make sure they put the "sweet spot" in the correct place for your eyes.

In my case, I've had the helpful opticians give me the latest, greatest, HD, lenses. I just couldn't wear the durn things, and driving was impossible with them. When they downgraded the lenses to the older brand/style I used, everything was fine.

They gave me options of lenses put in with the cataract surgery ( don't mean eyeglasses, actual in eye lenses, so one side is more for close vision and the other is more for far away. Doesn't everyone have options?

Because of the type/level of astigmatism I have I did not have options like that. My vision in general was quite improved (distance w/o corrective glasses) is 20/25 but near vision is still quite blurry without corrective glasses.

Ah, yeah, forgot that, but it was just for the day of and that night.

Yes, my first pair of bi-focals were progressive. Adjusted just fine, but hated them. It was long before I retired, and I needed to look at blueprints and such a lot of the time, got tired of needing to keep moving my head to see the prints. Following pair were lined, and I could once again just move my eyes. So a large area for close work, and a large upper area for distance. With the tri-focals you get a large area for middle, like dashboards and such.

They gave me options of lenses put in with the cataract surgery ( don't mean eyeglasses, actual in eye lenses, so one side is more for close vision and the other is more for far away. Doesn't everyone have options?

I did have that option, or get the new lenses both in either close or distance, which would then require glasses for the other end, so still needing glasses. And what do they do when/if your prescription changes? I went with no correction and kept my tri-focals.

One side is more for close ups and the other for distance. Hard to explain but it works. As for eyeglasses/prescriptions, they just adjust the same as when your eyes need different specs for each eye.
