Morning, all.

Cool 42 overnight, high 50s later on... uh, yeah, spring in the PNW :)

One side is more for close ups and the other for distance. Hard to explain but it works. As for eyeglasses/prescriptions, they just adjust the same as when your eyes need different specs for each eye.

Guess that makes sense, regarding later prescriptions. The other factor in my decision is that Medicare only covers non-corrective inserts, but covers the complete cost of glasses within 1 year of cataract surgery. Yeah, cheapskate :)

The day started off poorly yesterday because the laptop that I just purchased (renewed) would not turn on. GRRRR

Between that and not being able to eat, I was a tad upset to say the least. I contacted Amazon and the seller is supposed to get in touch with me. I hope I can get it straightened out. I had to wait until I came to Perry's today because that is where my other laptop is.

Happy to report, the surgery went splendidly. I cannot wait until the 30th when they do my left eye. It is amazing. I honestly had no idea I was seeing so poorly. It's like someone turned on a light in a dim room. I return to my regular eye doctor next Wednesday (a week's checkup). They said it would get a little clearer every day, but I can already see pretty darn well without my glasses. I look funny because I took the glass on the right side out of my glasses so I could see. Yesterday, I just wore my left contact.

They gave me an IV to relax me, but I remember most of what they said and did. Nothing hurt, though. They did 24 yesterday, and I was the 23rd. At $6000 per surgery, that is $144,000. Not bad for half a day's work. Not always, but sometimes, technology is awesome. Scary, but awesome.

Perry was upset today. His boss said he was going to close Perry's shop down in two month. Instead, he started it in two days. We got to his shop this morning, and they had already loaded up a bunch of his big machines. Even the ones that he was running parts on. Going to be a bit challenging for a while, I think. I keep telling him to keep an open mind because it could turn out to be good for him. We will just have to wait and see.

I only had to wear the clear plastic eye patch yesterday and now just at night for a week. Now the drops are another story. I have 3 different drops to use 4 times a day and believe it or not, they gave me a chart to follow for a whole month. Going to be difficult in two weeks when I have to do that eye too.

Friday again. Another super-fast week. I don't have any plans and I am glad. That rain sure did make the grass decide to grow so I guess it will be time for Perry to mow again. We had a pretty hard rain and I think it has helped with the pollen for me. Either that or all those drops I'm using.

Anyone have fun plans for the weekend?

Yes, my first pair of bi-focals were progressive. Adjusted just fine, but hated them. It was long before I retired, and I needed to look at blueprints and such a lot of the time, got tired of needing to keep moving my head to see the prints. Following pair were lined, and I could once again just move my eyes. So a large area for close work, and a large upper area for distance. With the tri-focals you get a large area for middle, like dashboards and such.
Yep, I can totally relate to that. Up until this pair of progressives I could deal with those oddities of field of vision, blur, distortion when not looking directly through the sweet spot. But this lates pair all those 'things' are way more significant / exaggerated than all my previous pairs. I wasn't expecting that because the prescription is a 'lot less' because the cataract surgery really did improve my overall vision. I don't get it. I need to go talk with the folks at the optical shop. Perhaps they missed the 'sweet' spot when measuring me or the lens were not made to the measured specs.

Morning, all.

More rain, so the plan is to carefully watch it and count the drops.

Happy to report, the surgery went splendidly.

 Figured it would. Yeah, the first one is spooky, cutting up the eyeball!! But really no longer a big deal. And yep, that cloudy vision just creeps up slowly and we don't notice.

I need to go talk with the folks at the optical shop. Perhaps they missed the 'sweet' spot when measuring me or the lens were not made to the measured specs.

Could be. Worth having them check it out. Or maybe with your improved vision the transition from sweet spot to distance isn't quite right?

Hey Willie, did the tornadoes miss you? Are you ok? There's been a lot of reporting on the news today.

We we had storms here, but we got lucky and didn't get the severe wind that was called for. We got 2-1/2 " of rain and lots of thunder and lightning. After the storms passed Mike was driving back from a doctors visit and had to detour past a few flooded out roads. So now we know where the flooding happens around here.

Tree down in my yard and fell into neighbors yard onto their storage shed. Ughh
Oh boy, that could have been so much worse. Still shocking, but it seems someone was watching out for you and your neighbors. I hope it wasn't your favorite tree.

We were lucky. The tree split and one part landed along the fenceline and the other on the storage shed. I hope there isn't too much damage to the shed. I am waiting for the guy to schedule removal while hoping nothing worse happens with all this wind we are having.

    Morning, all.

Seems to be a break between storms, still on the cool side, some fresh snow in the mountains. We'll take it, still about 4" shy of average.

@Uncle Willie ? You there and ok?? No word since the St. Louis tornadoes...

Hello all. The weekend sure did go by fast. Whew! The "peeper" is still doing great and I can't wait until the 30th to get the other eye done. Still getting used to seeing colors so bright.

I went to a baby shower today, and boy have they changed since I had kiddos. They had drawings, and Perry won a bottle of bourbon. It will go in his collection. Me? I enjoyed all the finger foods.

It was outside, and you could not have asked for a better day. I sat on the front porch because they had rocking chairs. I do love rocking.

Going to take care of the yard work at both houses tomorrow since we never got around to doing it this weekend. And it is Monday, so I'll start the week off trying to eat right. I have not been very successful lately, although I have started walking more.

Happy Monday to you all!

    Morning, all.

More rain, although we did have some decent sun breaks yesterday, and the claim is more of that later today. They say that's the pattern until late in the week. Still shy of average, so that's good. And still below average temps, so some fresh snow again high up, also good.

They had drawings, and Perry won a bottle of bourbon.

That should go to the mother-to-be, she'll need it!

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Hey Willie, did the tornadoes miss you?

@Uncle Willie ? You there and ok?? No word since the St. Louis tornadoes...

Thanks for asking .. it's rare that I retreat to the basement during one of these events, but retreat I did, me and my dog and a couple neighbors that have no basement .. it was pretty scary .. Forest Park / Zoo / Worlds Fairgrounds took a big hit .. it's still rough out there, but coming along .. that's what you see on the map with the heavy concentration ..

Put that generator to use .. fairly minor this and that as far as property damage ..

Glad you and your neighbors are OK, we wuz worried!

So a clean miss at both your places, home and shop?

They've no doubt changed over the last 60 years, (and even more in the last week!!), but I used to go to Forest Park and the zoo when I was a kid visiting my Grandma. Dang, that's been a while! :)
