Glad you and your neighbors are OK, we wuz worried!

So a clean miss at both your places, home and shop?

They've no doubt changed over the last 60 years, (and even more in the last week!!), but I used to go to Forest Park and the zoo when I was a kid visiting my Grandma. Dang, that's been a while! :)

shop is well out of the range of these tornado hits

There is stupid and there is really stupid ..

The elimination of pretty much all of the tax incentive regarding EV's and Hybrids, at least within the current bill making its way thru, is penciled in to now expire the end of this year .. the original $7500 credit was set to expire in 2032 ..

Now, the idea here, along with increased fuel efficiency for gas vehicles, was to spur on the EV industry and put a bit of a clamp on climate change .. giving consumers an incentive .. and, it was working ..

All the major auto makers have been and continue to be ramping up facilities, putting in more R&D, etc, based on the Governments own incentive ..

If and when that incentive gets removed, what does that do besides drive sales of EV's and hybrids down .. ?? Thus tossing to the wind much of what the auto makers have already invested in what they thought was the future ..

Many times, I think there is this deep seated wish for America to return to some sort of idealized past .. you can't turn back time, no matter how much you wish .. what you can do, though, is deny that climate change is real and thusly, punish a segment of the Manufacturing Community that counts on long range plans in order to er, plan for the future ..

Morning, all.

More overnight rain, but sun breaks in the guess. Nice when / if it happens that way, just like Camelot :)

Not using anything with blister pack coils, Mike. Er, well, other than the Caliburn G3 Pro I won here on ecf. I did get a few of the 1.2 ohm pods for it, the .6 and .9 that came with it just vape too hot for me.

errr, ummm ... from the guy who drives a 'what'
I mentioned a while back that my 2013 Chevy Avalanche was getting a bit long in the tooth .. it's an impossible vehicle to replicate, so you either keep the durn thing or settle for something else ..

I decided to go with a 2024 Dodge Ram Crew Cab short bed .. it's about as close to the ride and drive of my Avalanche .. going with a rear wheel drive, since it's slightly lower and I don't really need a 4x4 ..

Prices have gotten back to semi-normal on trucks .. still high, IMO, but it's unlikely that we'll ever see pre-Pandemic price levels ever again, just the way it is ..

Why does a color other than white, black or silver cost more .. ?? That's why the streets are so bland anymore .. back in the day, you could get about any color in the rainbow ..

View attachment 1018305

Picked up the new truck today .. fer cryin' out loud, it's like having to learn how to drive all over again .. vehicles have become rolling concoctions of tech .. do dads for every this and that .. then, it seems like it wants to take over for you at times .. will take a bit of getting used to ..

When I got out of the Army in 1970, I had some exit money I got, as well, my combat extra pay went into it's own account (my Parents) .. so, I had a little coin and bought a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T .. the whole enchilada .. 425-hp 426 Hemi, SlapStik ratchet shifter, I think I paid something around 4K .. it was a great, great car .. never passed a gas station it did not like, course, back then, who really cared .. ?? .. chick magnet like crazy ..

I was so stoned one day, tooling around some country roads, I accidentally shifted into reverse doing about 60 .. and, it did not blow the transmision ..

The next, and last Crysler product I owned was a Crysler Cordoba .. remember that .. ?? Ricardo Montalban and Corinthian leather .. drove like a road yacht, when you could drive it .. just a real POS .. 1979 model .. 400 CI V-8 .. never, ever regretted getting rid of that lemon ..

Still learning about my new truck .. it's amazing the tech they pack into these things .. and, an 8 speed automatic in a truck that does 0-60 in under 6 seconds is a real trip .. I mean, we're talking probably 3 tons of machine with that kind of get up and go .. with the option to switch to manual shift ..

It's a fun ride and drive .. smooth as silk

Do you have a point .. ?? Did I say I was for or against EV's / Hybrids .. ??

My point was, simply, companies invest in R&D based on certain assumptions and projections on what the market will do .. in this case, incentives ..

That has zero to do with what I personally prefer to drive .. although I did seriously consider a Ford Lightning ..

Yes, I believe in climate change, yes, I drive a full size gas truck, yes I believe in gun control, yes, I carry and have a fair collection of bang bangs ..

That's the duality of life ..

Just pulling your chain ... if'n we were sitting in the bar I would have said that to you with a smile on my face as we tapped bottles then took another swig.

Rain overnight, mostly clear skies this AM. Keep up the good work :)

Indeed. And if those assumptions and projections - AND incentives! - go awry or away, they stand to lose a lot of $$$.

Perry has not been feeling well. He has an appt. with cardiologist but it is not until July. He wet to his family doctor today and she is worried about his fluid and wants him to call his doctor and get fitted in. That is sort of scary. He is taking a bunch of fluid pills now so hopefully that will make him feel better.

It was still a rather nice day. I had an eye appt. this morning and I have to go back next week because I still have too much inflammation and some wriinkles in my new lens. He said not to worry about it because he can laser it out. Always something. Looks like I will still have to have readers but he is not sure quite yet. It is suppose to get better. Fingers crossed.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

I didn't get wrinkles ... but both my new lens clouded over. I had to go for a laser 'fix' too, just takes a few minutes in the chair. The Doc said it was pretty common and an easy fix.

Morning, all.

Might be done with rain for a bit. Dry overnight, maybe random showers later, but nothing in the guess for the weekend - or coming week, although that far out is always a crap shoot.

He wet to his family doctor today and she is worried about his fluid and wants him to call his doctor and get fitted in.

Yeah, DEMAND they work him in, or get him to an ER.

The people here are what makes this such a nice place to be.

Indeed. Came for help quitting cigs, hardware issues and such. Stay around for the friendships.

Wife had that happen in one, yep, easy fix, painless.

Ah, simpler times, hard to to to telemarkerters!

They added a pill and increased his water pill for two days. I think he is breathing a little better. I sure hope so. He is going to call first of the week and see if his cardiologist can see him sooner. If he can't, I would pick a new doctor.

Perry does not eat sweet things so I fixed me some chocolate chips pancakes for breakfast. I don't normally eat until supper but I had a chocolate craving that got the best of me. Had to eat them dry because there was no syrup in the pantry, but they were still good.

Looks like a beautiful day outside. I went out and had my coffee earlier. I love drinking it outside. Happy Friday all.

I was not too worried about what the eye doc said yesterday but after reading here, I feel even better. I am not sure why, but I don't think I am seeing as clear as i did at first. I go back next week so we will see. I am sure it takes a while to heal. I am still following his orders on those 3 different drops. I have to start doing the other eye next week for my 30th surgery. Good thing I'm good at giving myself drops since it is 12 times a day.

As time went on I too felt like I wasn't seeing as good as 'after' the replacements. Welp! That was confirmed at my follow-up visit when the Doc said my replacement lens clouded over. After the laser treatment all was fine again.
