Another reason to bring in the plants is that our deck needs to be power washed and sanded and then a new coat of paint before winter temps get here. We just have to find a contractor to do it.

Last Spring, I did the deck power wash and stain .. still looks great, but stain is always finite these days .. you can expect maybe 3 years out of it no matter how expensive the stain or what the can says ..

Dragging deck plants in and out every Spring and Fall is, perhaps, one of the most unlooked forward to things I do .. in fact, seriously thinking of selling them all and getting fake plants .. I've got plants that are at least 20 years old in some instances .. and all the others I've propagated off them .. it's a chore ..

So glad this is a beautiful day because our families are getting together to go apple picking. This orchard has hay rides and a maze for the kids as well as a store and amazing apple cider doughnuts! They also have pumpkin picking so I'm looking forward to getting some pumpkins for decorating around our house. They'll have food vendors so if our son didn't get around to making his Mississippi Pot Roast we'll just bring food back to our house. Nobody should go hungry today!

I don't look forward to bringing the plants in either, My window space is limited so I'm not sure how this is going to work out. The deck always looks so bare without all the plants and flowers outside.

Yesterday I got a notice that my Personal Choice 65 healthcare insurance is no longer going to be available so I have to find another one. I'll have to call the medicare phone # to find a new plan and then check to see if our new doctors accept it. Ugh!
Will the phone work? Govt shutdown and all that?

I have test-driven a bunch of convertibles. I am pretty sure that might have something to do with my back killing me. I am starting to think it is not meant to be.

I found a 2018 Miata MX-5 that had only 6,000 miles on it. Beautiful, and I could not find anything to nitpick except the price. After deducting their fees, the total would have been $28,000.

I did find a Mercedes SLK350, which I really liked, but I am definitely having second thoughts. I did buy a car, though, and I am quite pleased with it. It is a 2011 Lexus that was so clean. It may be an older car, but it is more advanced than anything I have driven.

Got some new headlights for Ken's truck (where he hit a deer). Perry installed one, but the side that was bent would not go in. After 4 Band-Aids, he decided to call a friend. Bless his heart. I am going to get it ready to sell along with the Honda CRV and dad's Silverado. I hope Dad's '98 truck will sell fast. It only has 59,000 miles on it and is in immaculate condition. He was funny about his cars.

Hope everyone is having a great week. I hope to have things settle down soon because I am exhausted.

Congratulations on your new Lexus! Buying a car can be stressful so I'm glad your search is over. Hope you have many years of happy driving!

If I were a Bass Player, I'd want to be John Lodge .. RIP .. back when I was young during the Revolutionary War, it was always a toss up on the turntable between the Moody Blues or Pink Floyd ..

Whoa!!! Now that evokes some memories and feelings from what seems like another lifetime of my past.

I got a bunch of stuff from Amazon today to accessorize the car. I love making it mine. We took a drive to an audio shop to check on upgrading the radio. I could not believe it was going to be a $1000. Sheesh!

We were laughing tonight because even though it is a 2011 car, it is the most advanced car I have ever owned. I found out tonight that the windshield wipers adjust automatically to how hard it is raining. That is just crazy. I also have never had a car that push button starts and opens just by having the fob in my shoulder bag. It takes so little to make me happy.

Cleaned out the shed this weekend, was glad it rained today so I could rest. I couldn't find a home for 2 wood chippers and a tiller. We put them out on the road where Perry lives because the city picks up anything. We went to get some egg drop soup, and when we came back, they were gone. Guess someone beat the city to them.

Initially I thought that's what you had in mind-that someone would pick them up. Mike had a regular lawnmower he wanted to get rid of. He put it out on the sidewalk and a week later it was still sitting there. Then he put a sign on it "IT WORKS" and it was gone in an hour! Win - Win!!

I love my fob! No more searching for the keys!! My fob will also open the "trunk" on my car and I love that for when I'm shopping especially if it's raining. I didn't realize for awhile that it could do that so I was quite happy to find that out. I'm so happy for you and your new car! I hope you have some more pleasant surprises.

My thoughts on the New, Tech packed Vehicles ..

I loved my old Chevy Avalanche .. when it got to the end of it's life cycle, it was a sad day for me .. I knew that truck as well as I knew myself ..

So, logic said 'Buy a brand new truck, since that may be the last vehicle you'll ever need ..' .. so, I drop $65K (total, out the door) .. and, I love my new truck ..

However, it's packed with tech I don't need or want .. and the 'brain' will not allow driving if certain systems are detected as failed or faulty, if the 'brain' thinks so .. (not that I've had that problem, yet) ..

So, hope that any glitch that comes down the pike happens while the new warrantee is still in effect .. because, these days, about anything requires a near PHD to fix and costs 5x what old, simple tech used to cost ..

Even a simple thing like an oil change is an easy $100+ clams .. because, instead of regular old 10/30 oil and a filter, you need synthetic oil .. I can remember oil changes being $20 and that was back when they needed to lube the zerts as well ..

Then, the availability of these new fangled tech parts is always a crap shoot .. I've got a buddy with a new vehicle that had some module go out under warrantee and has sat at the Dealership for 4 months waiting on a part ..

Packing NASA tech in a vehicle may seem like a real wow factor, but like many things in the Modern World, there is always a dark side .. but, the thing is, you really don't have much, if any, choice ..

These are just more failure points that, in most cases, cannot be handled by the driver and requires a technician to diagnose and fix ..

We always bought used cars until we got our Taurus. Mike looked under the hood and said, "well, this is the first car I'm not going to be able to fix!" I agree, I'm not big on all but a couple bells and whistles and the price that comes with them, but you're right, no choice these days. At any rate, I hope you have many happy years with your truck.

And don't even get me started on Self Driving Cars
