Aloha Jag and Beach friends!
Thank you jj, hope you get a nap!
thank Campanita, it is my price for abusing my body for many years
Lis, I've been overly busy this past 6 months and also have abused my body with fast food and cutting short my high-antioxidant fruits and veggies. But you would be surprised at how powerful the human body is in responding to its needs to heal itself.
I started getting a tightness in my chest about two weeks ago, and it scared me. I went on a green smoothie detox on the 8th ... only 5 days ago, and by the third day, that tightness was gone! I am sleeping sounder and better, have more energy and the depression I've felt since my pups have been gone is lifting ... a few perks I wasn't expecting but gladly embrace with zeal.
A couple of more surprises were that my skin was greasy and breaking out, and now it's soooo much better ... moist, rosier and dewy feeling ... almost back to normal. AND I've lost 8 pounds! No more bloating and water retention.
All I did was go to the store and
buy a half gallon of coconut milk, a half gallon of almond milk a couple of 35 oz containers of Greek
non-fat plain yoghurt, some
organic greens (kale, romaine, chard, cukes, celery) and some
organic sweet fruits (pears, apples, oranges, mangos, and tons of frozen berries). Then I pop them into my blender to make a
huge smoothie to sip on during meal times.
Here's my basic recipe:
1 cup coconut (or almond) milk
1/2 cup yoghurt
handful of greens
1/2 cup berries
1 or two sweet fruits to sweeten it all (whatever you like, except grapefruit)
Add a little water if it's too thick for you
2 tablespoons ground chia seeds (a coffee mill works great to grind, or you can buy them already ground)
a little food flavoring if you like (vanilla, cinnamon, mint, etc ... Frontier brand is the healthiest)
The chia seeds make you feel full all day and gives tons of energy.
Won't you try this please? Really, if you use fruits to sweeten, you won't even taste the greens ... just a delicious smoothie. Ask your doc first, but I'm sure he would okay it.
No grapefruit if you're on blood thinner meds.
We
you and want you well!
