Sorry, I figured a Sci Fi fan would know...BattleStar Galactica from the SciFi channel (which is now SyFy). It was a great series, check it out if you can. There is a Pilot, the series, and two (I think) "movies" that they ran in between seasons. Once they killed BSG, they tried to do a prequel series called Caprica...which was supposed to be history leading up to BSG. I'm not sure if it just didn't do as well, but I think they only aired 2 seasons of that. The production values of both was great, and the writing on BSG was particularly good.
Oh!!! :smacks self in head: I know BattleStar Galactica. I just didn't know it by BSG. I've seen some of it, but I came to it somewhere in the middle, so I didn't really know what was going on.
Steel Magnolias is not on Netflix. But Battlestar Galactica is. There's a Battlestar Galactica 1978 with 24 episodes, and one from 2003-2007.
