Was washing chemicals (Comet) out a tub enclosure today with hot water. The steam made the smoke alarm go off, which in turn made the home security alarm go off.I fanned the bathroom door which made the smoke alarm go off, but the client’s mother didn’t know how to disengage the deafening-loud siren on the home SS.
She began rapidly hitting every key on this multi-keyed panel. Not knowing it at the time, she was playing the Stress Key, Life Threat key, Intruder Alert and Panic keys like one plays a piano. LOL, the piano is right below the Security System too. Finally I called the client to get the secret CODE to disarm. BUT then, here comes a parade of Fire Department and Police cars.
And then all the neighbors came out!
OMG, what a show!
And the firemen!OMG just inches in front of me ... two buff, tan, white-teethed hunks that were as stellarly gorgeous above the belt as below. I was trying to answer their questions, but then they smiled at me, and I turned to jello like a dork. The client’s little 86 y.o. mom had to answer their questions.

What I would like to know is how steam ... not smoke ... could set a fire alarm off. I thought they were to sense carbon monoxide. And then, the client asked me if my e-cig could have set it off. I wasn't even vaping at the time and told her not only was I not vaping, but little wisps couldn't set one off.
Regardless of her age, she lives on cigarettes and beer. I've never seen a scrap of food go into her mouth, and she's only about 4'10" and weighs around 90lbs.

Maybe the steam softened enough of the cigarette buildup to set off the alarm some way.
