I knew y'all would understand! I've found I do a much better job of cleaning if I mentally prepare myself first. Sometimes this takes a few days

I got some lavender essential oil, mixed with water and sprayed his areas. Also, steam cleaned the carpet in his favorite marking areas. Also, I have been letting him outside to see what his life could be like....but I do not think he has learned any lesson....he likes it, and sometimes stays out for 30 minutes. 8-o But maybe that has eased anxiety feelings.
I still do not trust him....so I keep an eye on him. And I would never allow him in granddaughter's bedroom again, since her bed was one of his main "go to" places.
We shall see......and I do hope you can find out what Oliver's problem is Tink.....all the dozens of web sites I have read say there is a problem of some kind when a cat does not use his litter box. We think Hellraiser's main problem is his I.Q.
