No...they knew in season 3 (I think) that there wouldn't be a season 5. At the time, a friend of mine who works at SyFy said that BSG carried the biggest the audience share, so I don't understand why they canceled it...unless it started to cost too much. I had high hopes for Caprica, but I think that SyFy disappointed the BSG audience too much for them to give that series a chance. It's too bad, it could have been cool.I thought you said it was written to be completed in 4 seasons. I guess you mean you wish there would be another series.
Fringe is available in a DVD set. I'm sure this BSG is, too, but I'm watching it on Netflix.
