A liquid in glass thermometer does not need to be programmed. You just mark the graduations. It is a physical reaction to temperature changes. I don't see your point.
IF I understand you correctly. That's the same argument as the thermometer. Inanimate objects/substances changing state/form/density as a result of their environment/temperature/whatever. Nothing new here from the thermometer anology.

The thing is, plants are absolutely devoid of any mechanism which would allow thought (nervous system). And, the only evidence you've provided is response to light, a response which is essential to their survival. Yes, phototrophism is a response to light, explainable without need for intelligence or thought of any kind.
