I love my eGo, but I was considering adding a mod to my collection... After all, it's been 3 months and I am a full fledged vapaholic. I am wondering if it's even worth it...would adding a 3.7 even be worth it? or would jumping to a 5/6volt make that much more sense?

My eGo rocks. My only real problem with it is I'd like longer batt life and batts at 24.00 each seems expensive. (I have 4).

Here's where I'm at:
1. I like taking long drags and I don't like hot/cooked juice.
2. I'd like longer battery life.
3. A little more power than my eGo would be nice.
4. I don't want to set the house on fire or burn myself.
5. I want a 510 connection.
6. I want something that fits nicely in my hand...

So, is a mod good idea... or am I better off buying a 5 pack of eGo batts and another charger?

If a Mod is a good idea, I am thinking I like the chuck and the GG and a few others out there look interesting.

Thanks much,
LT

Let's take a look at your criteria:

1. I like taking long drags and I don't like hot/cooked juice. That says to me: not 5V or 6V and not low-resistance atomizer. For example, I stick a low-resistance 801 on my DSE905 when I want a hard quick hit. For my long leisurely vaping, I use a regular atty.

2. I'd like longer battery life. – Minimum 14500 (900 mAh) battery. Even better: 18650 (2400+ mAh) battery. Stay away from the 10400 (320-340 mAh) batts.

3. A little more power than my eGo would be nice.
– Use a true 3.7V battery. The regular 510 batt really is about 3.2V; I don't think the eGO batt is that much more. The Kr8 batt is true 3.7V, as are the 14500 and 18650 batts (at least higher quality ones like AW). Also the higher the mAh, the longer it stays at or near the initial max 4.2V. Or you may want to consider the new variable voltage Buzz.

4. I don't want to set the house on fire or burn myself. – Use protected batteries and no stacking (or good venting).

5. I want a 510 connection. – No problem. Virtually all mods can have a 510 connection (or you can use an adapter). BTW, have you tried the penstyle attys? They really are quite marvelous.

6. I want something that fits nicely in my hand... – "Fits nicely" varies from person to person. Assuming, for the moment, that you feel that way about the eGO, you'll want something a similar size and shape and with the switch button in a similar position. So no box mods for you.

Most 18650-based mods (e.g., Chuck, Silver Bullet) are longer and fatter than you might want (other than perhaps the Precious - L). 14500-based mods (like the Protege, BB, Provape, Nautilus, and DSE905) – and perhaps the 16340-based Little Chuck and Mini VapeStack or 183502-based Indulgence (all three of which are short but fat) – are closer to eGO size.

Also notice the button position of devices like some GGs and XHaler (toward the bottom) and the SuperSix, Screwdriver, Makos, Steampunk Sparkplug, and some other GGs (at the bottom).
With those guidelines (adjusted by you) take a look at ViZi's comprehensive guide (and his table organized by battery type and voltage) and youtubecommercial's vast collection. [Aren't those guides and lists amazing?!] Select two or three that strike your fancy and investigate them here on ECF.

For an economy solution, you may want to consider the "DaBoomMod";): A Joye302 (penstyle) atomizer and adapter on a Kr8 battery. [If you insist, you can substitute a 510 atty and relevant adapter.] If you use all stainless steel finish components (and, optionally, a stainless steel T-Tip), you've got a poor man's Precise: long, slender, elegant.

The 280 mAh is close to the 320 mAh of the Precise, but much less than the 650 mAh eGO. However, with the Kr8's slim PCC, by the time your battery has pooped out (that is the technical term, you know) – two to four hours, depending on how heavily you vape – the backup battey in the PCC is ready to swap in.
