I have two bottles of juice called Blue Raspberry made with Propylene glycol, glycerin, Nic. and flavorings.
My concern is the fact that is turns a caramel color in a weeks time. Nicotine mg's are different in each bottle at 24 and 18. Also when I put it in the Vision Clero or ViVi Nova it cracks the plastic within 30 minutes.:?:
I've been using it in my Lava Tube with the Tube tank for a few weeks and no cracks but the tube seems to be a little cloudy.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

i know your problems, and will help you....

first concern: the turning of color is normal, it happens as the alcohol from the flavorings evaporate from the juice and it begins to become more pure in flavor, we call this steeping. it is 100% ok to still use this.

second: the juice you are using is a strong fruit flavor, chances are it contains a bit of citrus acid, which does NOT play well with polyplastic tanks....in order to tank these types of juices, you will need to get a glass or metal tank, the vivi nova has aluminum replacement tubes, and as far as glass cartotanks, i personally recommend phiniac, as they are simply second to none when it comes to quality.

edit: i know most of this as many of the fruit flavors i prefer are heavy citrus based, raspberry being one of my favorites, i know your pain when it comes to tanking these types of juices...it just takes a bit of knowledge to remedy the situation though.

well you are right on the second part for the most part(although there are other things such as cinnamon that is not an acid but also does not play well with plastic)......but on the first completely wrong....change of color comes from the nic oxidizing and chemical interactions between flavorings/nic(french vanilla comes to mind....turns juice blood red)

yes you are right as well, but the alcohol evaporating out removes the last remainder of any preservative type ingredients in the juice, allowing the oxidation to occur, so i wouldn't necessarily call me outright wrong....most flavorings do contain alcohol to preserve and suspend them, look at the ingredients list on a bottle of vanilla extract in your kitchen, i personally guarantee there is alcohol.

Some blueberry flavorings contain Triacetin which has been known to crack the plastic tanks. :(

i feel your pain man, really....i'd about given up on tanks until i found phiniac tbh, all the other glass tanks that used grommets made the juice taste like a rubber band factory....the end caps were brilliant though, and they fit tighter than any tank i've used....quite frankly i'm done with any other type of tank....my nova's really only get used every so often as i don't care for them as much as my more sturdy juice delivery systems....and the between two phiniac tanks and a penelope, i can get through several days of vaping without needing a refill

Yes and so does my almond, hazelnut, mint and lemon extracts. I have another juice 'Lemonade' (16mg nic.) that has not changed color in three weeks so maybe this is not made with an extract type flavoring?

that depends really, some vendors ship juices that have been sitting around for a little while, some juices are pre-steeped before they are even considered ready to ship, and some really just don't change color much....and there are also variables like nicotine content, etc....as you can get a bottle of crystal clear juice that has 0 nic and leave it sit around for a month and may still be crystal clear...it can be a number of things from that to climate....its not something to worry too much about though, as it simply happens, and many vapers (myself included) enjoy the juice more after it's gotten a few days to sit...hell there are a few vendors i order from in advance just because i know i like a good two or three week steep on a particular juice.

Ok a couple of you have mentioned the 'Phiniac Tank' and they're beautiful! It appears to be a 'made to order' which I will do but are there any merchants that will sell them ready made that I can get in a few days?

check the website, they usually have a few made, also the naked tanks and the sandblasted tanks usually ship next day....shoot them an email and ask for their stock, and also make SURE to check scratch and dent, as those have very minor flaws and you can get a good chunk of cash off because of a tiny flaw

Thanks elmattias, I will go back and check it out. And thank you all for putting my mind at ease.
Funny how I smoked cigarettes for 30 + years and never worried about all the umpteen thousand of chemicals I was burning to ingest poison into my body and now I'm worried about a little color change? LOL What's wrong with this picture?

it boils down to uncertainty, and the fact that its more complicated than simply setting something on fire and inhaling...once you get used to the ins and outs it will be like second nature...i hate to say it, but the best advice is keep calm and vape on...really...the good thing is you have this forum, which is a huge database of information readily available to you...you're in good hands here, most everyone is willing to give back to the community what they initially recieved hospitality wise when they first joined.

anyways i'm rambling now, good luck with the new tank search, the guys over at phiniac are amazing, you won't be disappointed at all...only other thing i could recommend is a tank filler tool (they sell a cheap one on the phiniac site as well) as the end cap seals are TIGHT after they sit for an hour or two and set up...i think its like 12 pounds of force or something like that if i'm not mistaken to seperate the caps (no fear of leaks from these things.....ever.) and the glass is rugged as it gets, chris the owner has a video of himself throwing one against a brick wall on the site, the tank just bounces off...they simply have no peers when it comes to downright product quality.

Phiniac makes some of the highest quality tanks, to be sure. However, before investing some $40 plus dollars into your first tank, you can get a high quality yet inexpensive pyrex tank from IB Tanked. Prices start at a measley $20 and go up, depending upon upgrades of decorative style or stainless steel end caps. Nice tanks for new or experienced vapors alike.

Phiniac ships the tanks within a day or two of ordering. Depending on where you live you should receive it within four days. It is well worth the price. Nobody can beat Phiniac's quality or dedication to customer service. I own two of them that I had shipped to Thailand, and then shipped them back to the U.S. to have Frost Color (was not available when I originally purchased the tanks) added and sent back to me in Thailand. Well worth the wait both times.

And +1 for Triacetin cracking the tanks. It is derived from Glycering, but chemically different, and used as a carrier for some flavors instead of PG. It is known to crack tanks and play havoc with plastics. Stay away from Triacetin based flavors to be on the safe side.
