Like I said, I just love my Origens but want to find another just to break things up a bit.

I've tried the Tohb, Quasar, Odin, Vulcan and of course the Patriot. They just didn't hit the mark for me. I'm not a fog machine and not looking for big air so flavor is king. It seems that my sweet spot for builds are dual micro coils with KGD cotton running right around 0.6ohm. I make my own juice at around 12mg. And my mod of choice are my GP mods in an 18490 mode.

I've been fascinated with the new Hobo rda but am thinking is really designed for lots of air. I'm also kinda interested in the Magma since it has the deep wells like the Origen. But I have blown a bunch of cash on drippers that I can't sell so I really want an RDA that is going to be similar to the Origen if that is possible.

    Suggestions would be appreciated, please.

I have to completely with the post above...Veritas is awesome. I think it gives a ton of flavor and it also produces great vapor as well. Its pretty much leak proof and has a deep well. The only thing you should be aware of is some people find it a PITA to set up...I find it fairly easy to set up (similar to setting up a genny).

    I'm absolutely loving my Hobo.

Easy to build with open deck and posi t-post. Compact chamber that produces superb flavor and decent clouds as well. Single or dual mode capable. AFC in front of coil(s) and on top hat. Super deep well that holds a ton of juice.

I haven't tried a Veritas but have used a Magma. The Hobo out performs the Magma imo.

I was exactly on the same boat as you a few weeks back, my best mod was a brass gp paps in 18490 (I have 2) and my rda was origen (I too have 2)

the quasar for me gives me a better flavor but you need to drip a lot more so the origen still won until I discovered the orchid...

before the orchid I have been an exclusive dripper for a bit more than a year, I did try a lot of tanks but none could match my rdas. but the orchid, WOW the orchid! I'm running it at dual coils @.5ohms and it produces much more flavor and vapor than my origens and holds more liquid, I've been on the orchids for a couple of weeks now and I don't think I'm going back for the origins for an all day setup, I still use and love them but just for a few vapes and then back to the orchid.

I know you asked for an eda and I'm giving you a tank, but it is really easy to build, just as an rda and for me it is the first time that a tank has given me a much better performance than an rda at those ohm, not just the portability issue .

What about clones of any of these top RDAs? I know there are clones but I know that there are "CLONES" and then there are 'clones'.

I would like to pick up 2/3 primarily for testing of DYI flavors I expect to do in the near future. But I can not see putting down $100 a pop for those top dog authentic models.

Having said this....my question is....will the RDAs have such a different result of the DIY flavors I want to use in my tanks that it would be a waste of time and money to use the RDAs for flavor testing?

New to all this and just trying to find my way around with out first going broke!!

The quality of the clones is hit or miss, so narrow the field down to a few you want to check out, then take the time to read some of the reviews and comments at FT. That way you can get a little better handle on what to expect.

The orchid (mentioned by vapero above) seems to be getting really good reviews, and you can drip on anything that has a straight shot down to the coil. Come mix time, just empty one, slap in some fresh cotton, and drip away. Only slightly more hassle that a dripper, but with the huge bonus that when you're done testing, you can load her up and vape from the same device you tested with.

Another thing to keep in mind is the distance from the coil to your mouth. You can use shorter or longer trip tips to adjust this a little, but if you have a long tank then it's impossible to shorten beyond a short drip tip. I really think that's why a lot of folks like the nano tank on their kayfuns so well. The reason I bring this up is because the orchid get's a lot of complaints about juice capacity, but I suspect that it's shorter tank is part of the reason everyone raves about the flavor. At any rate, I'd recommend looking at the v2 version over the v4.

Yawn....... Always someone busting on clones. Homework is where it is, just like shopping for the right car.

Anyway, If you thing the Origen is awesome, I suggest spending some time with a Magma. I have several types of RDA's including these two.
Sorry, but the Origen really does not stack up against a well built Magma for Flavor production. I'm 3 weeks into trying to convince the Origen it can produce great flavor............... but it refuses to believe me. Horizontal coils set high, just over the air holes is the best so far.

Good advice...I am finding each day of research brings in a new set of questions and answers. Hahaha...but that's one of the things I love and especially about the vape business....its a wide open field with new stuff happening every day.

Gonna take all this info and put it together and then make some decisions soon.

    Will be fun I'm sure!!

See a lot of good words on the Magma...looks like a solid build and performer...but would most likely have to go with a clone.

Hey all, thank you for the suggestions so far. I really appreciate it very much!

I do have a Magma on it's way as I have heard mention that it is very similar to an Origen. I've put the Veritas on the short list and should be looking at getting one of those soon, too.

I do believe that Norbert's designs are fantastic but I just can't do a geni after all the hassles and juice running down my leg with the RSST. An Orchid is also on my short list since I do use my Kayfun everyday at work.

    Thanks again all.

if you like the kayfun but love rdas the orchid is a must have.
for me it outperforms my rdas at the same .5ohm range and has a tank, how much better could it get.
if you are looking into clones get an orchid v1 or v2 and a kayfun top fill cap. it is really easy to fill withoout needing any tools

sorry for the out of focus picture but it's hard to take one with both hands bussy

Where do you get a Kayfun top fill cap? I've never heard of one.
