Yes smaller base for both wide bore and normal styles. I hadn't nailed that part of the design admittidely, still cool but not quite what I pictured in my brain.

I'm going to do some green buckeye burl and some of the Koa with glow in the dark acryllic tomorrow hopefully.

YES, truly outrageous :) I never really cared about driptips. Never had any that were more than decent IMO. Including other wooden drip tips. Until my first Low Country, then it was a game changer. They're so far superior to other driptips I've used, it's not even funny :)

I'm gonna make a vid about em soon...when I can get a chance to laze around on a sunny day with good natural lighting, and show em off in all their glory :)

Although no pic of video can capture the awesomeness of putting one to your lips and takin a drag :vapor:

That'll be fun Sloth :) Folks don't know what they are missing. I think the tip is a big part of the set up, they can add or take away from an atty and build. They rock on the Manta's as you know, but also excellent on a Thump, Lancia, Buhawi.... I have to show a pix when I get a chance of the Thump cause you wouldn't think it would fit that well, but I like it. The metal on the bottom makes it look like it is part of the atty and it compliments the draw (to me, what do I know) Of course the fact that they look great helps too.

yeah, you are a selective Sloth and I took notice when I first found this thread. I enjoyed your review as it was and had to give them a go.
they are all you said and more in person. The Thuya Burl 001 is very cool. I wanted to try that shape, very good, I may very slightly prefer the shape of the Spalted Sycamore, but not by much. I have my eye on another and am sort of waiting to see if a new release hits so I can order them together.
I see Nauti has dropped by :)

I have the new cores drawings for longer more traditional tips drawn up just have to get some quotes as the last machine shop took what felt like forever. Still waiting on lots of wood from the other worker (also a bit too long for my liking) but I do have some stuff and will be dropping more start of the week.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, if you're in the market for one of these wide stubbies the Maidou burls are out of this world. I've been fighting myself since I made them to not pull one down for myself.
