Hey Guys.

I need suggestions for Maximum throat hit on 0 or low nic. I'm tapering off the nic, but still need the hit. Suggestions;

Thanks;
jd

Add 30% Everclear to 70% VG and 5 drops of Menthol liquid. Will produce a nice throat hit.
Dan

Menthol liquid:
2.5ml crushed menthol crystals disolved in 7.5ml everclear.

Added:
If your brave add a couple drops of liquid jalapeño juice :) Always a guarentee!

My experience is that if I drop some menthol crystals into
any juice it KaBangS into a nice throat hit. No alcohol needed.

The other factor, Jim, is what are you using to deliver your vape.
With a high voltage device, a throat hit is kind of a given, provided
you are not vaping straight Glycerin.

Another factor which worked for me is using more PG than VG. Of course,
heavy on the PG and light on the VG switches me from a human fog machine
into a throat hitting fool. Add some menthol, and ZoW! A few drops of vodka
or everclear? There is a noticeable taste difference, and a different throat kick.

Bottom line:

Alcohol
Menthol
High Voltage
PG rather than VG

Dan, will 30% everclear cause the atty to burn too hot and shorten it's lifespan?

I'm going out in a while to get some PG. I was always happy with VG, but that was with high nic.

I was never a menthol person, but the hit I get from the high nic feels much like menthol, so I'll give it a try. Where do you suggest to get the crystals from? How 'bout Everclear?

I'm not running high voltage. My passthrough @ 5v is the highest I go. I'm going to start using my Nicostick as soon as the batteries get here.

If I can get this hit thing down, I'll be in good shape. No more juice orders, or e-cig battery orders. I can concentrate on more attys.

Good question, I get lots of vapor when I use it, Have not had an atty go bad yet using it. I suppose the alcohol gets burned off, but if the element is constantly wet I do not think it will affect it. Anyone else notice this?

Here is a neat site to check out if looking for hot extracts :evil:

Were you brave enough to try the pepper? Did cause lingering throat burn?
How did you make your extract? I too will look for the menthol crystals.

Hey guys;
Got most of what I need. Being a non-drinker, I didn't know about Everclear, but when I went into the liquor store for 100 proof vodka, the Everclear was right next to it. Just couldn't find ant menthol crystals locally yet. May have to order.

Thanks for the help;
jd

I am sure you know this already.

FYI: Menthol Crystals on Lorann web site.

I was looking for them locally. I found them on a site for $1.50 but I didn't want to deal with waiting & shipping charges.

But Thanks for mentioning Lorann! We have a Baking Supply Warhouse here in Houston that has a Mega inventory of Loranns. They just might have the menthol. I think I'll take a ride there tomorrow and check them out.

Thanks again for the Lorann mention.

The hits I get from the high nic are very cooling. I think the menthol crystals will simulate the same thing for me.

Too bad you don't drink.

I have taken quite a liking to vaping highest PGA my atty can handle.

If the nicotine gets banned I think I can switch to the PGA.

Please don't take my M403 away!

How did you make your extract? I too will look for the menthol crystals.

There's a video and thread by member "Walrus" on the forums "DIY Throat Hit with Cayenne Pepper Extract": http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/10671-video-diy-throat-hit.html

He mentions further down in the thread he's done other videos on it. I believe it does cause a lingering burn at that strength, but mixed down some, I suspect it would linger no more than any other strong throat hit. Hope that helps.

I've read on the forums that you can make your own extracts with VG or PGA, so you could pick many foods that would be appropriate and create a flavoring of them if you want to experiment with different stuff for throat hits.

I have been thinking about what kinds of things could cause a throat hit. We already commonly know about Menthol and red peppers like Cayenne extract. Curious about Habanero, but that is extremely strong. Just in case anyone else wants to try it, here are some things that could do it that I believe would also not be harmful in moderation:

fresh onions, ginger root, black pepper.

I have started a ginger root flavoring. I bought a small piece of ginger (maybe 20 grams or so), "peeled" it like a potato, minced it, and put it in a container and added PGA just over the top. I shook that up and have been letting it sit. I'll let it sit for a day or two, probably use a cocktail masher to mash it a few times during that time, and then strain it with a coffee filter. I'll mix it with some PG and post what it is like.

I attach a picture of my ginger experiment in progress. I'd be interested in anyone's thoughts or concerns regarding it.

Continuing with the ginger extract experiment from the previous post, After about 12 hours of soaking the ginger in PGA, I microwaved the mixture for 10 seconds, which was enough to get it good and hot, and then used a spoon to carefully crush and squeeze on the now softened ginger. The ginger smell is now about even with the smell of alcohol, so I think it’s getting there. More updates to come.
