So the other day I asked if anyone knew of a juice that might be able help clear out my lungs, and to help with my sleeping issues. I got a few answers, and already before I posted had a look at "lung juice" and became interested in it. I did a quick search on ECF and still couldn't find anyone who has discussed in detail what I wanted to know. So I did some research and then compiled a list of all the herbs listed on the Nhale website and what they do for you. I now present it this list to the ECF community.

Elecampane- Internally, it is known for stimulating the process for dissolving fat. It also detoxifies the body. Elecampane contains all the minerals and vitamins that the body needs to strengthen its immune system.

Mullein- treatment for respiratory problems, including dry, hacking and unproductive coughs, a mild sedative, herbal pain reliever and demulcent that is soothing to inflamed tissues.

Osha root- treatment of viral infections, colds, flu, sore throat, and upper respiratory congestion.

Yerba mansa- relax muscles, calm the central nervous system, and reduce fevers

Yerba Santa- expectorant.

Dandelion Leaf- liver and gallbladder benefits, A natural diuretic, helps promote bile excretion from the liver. (Improved bile flow makes it possible for the body to better metabolize fat, which helps optimize the body’s cholesterol levels.)

Licorice Root- asthma, canker sores, chronic fatigue, depression, colds and flu, coughs, gingivitis and tooth decay, gout, heartburn, HIV, viral infections, fungal infections, ulcers, liver problems, ulcers, yeast infections, prostate enlargement and arthritis. In the respiratory system it has a similarly soothing and healing action, reducing irritation and inflammation and has an expectorant effect, useful in irritating coughs, asthma and chest infections.

Lobelia*- asthma, bronchitis, whooping cough, fevers, emphysema, pneumonia, nicotine withdrawal

Cordyceps- Enhancing and strengthening of the immune system, Improving sexual function in men and increasing libido by stimulating the production of sex hormones, Building muscles and improving physical performance, Providing anti-aging and fatigue reducing effects, Improving the respiratory function, Enhancing cellular oxygen uptake, Benefiting vascular system by improving circulation, regulating blood pressure, and strengthening the heart muscle, Protecting liver and kidneys

Reishi mushroom- boost your immune system, fight cancer, ward off heart disease, calm your nerves and relieve both allergies and inflammation.

The ingredients I could find that are special in the sleepytime green tea.

Valerian Root -Treating insomnia, relieving symptoms of menopause, Anxiety, Chronic fatigue syndrome, and helping with depression.

Melatonin-Sleep aid, Alzheimer's disease, Antioxidant, Asthma, Blood pressure, Immune system booster

Damiana- anti-depressant, boost energy, anti-anxiety, antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, cough supressant, mild laxative, digestive stimulant, expectorant, diuretic, and astringent.

This was complied as I scanned over a few websites on each herb for myself and jotted them down. I am in no way a doctor, or a herbalist. That being said I ordered my sample of the sleepytime green tea last night, and have a good idea what to expect. Hopefully this is helpful for those who wanted to know more about the herbs inside the juice.

Edit: I left off some of the purposed benefits of some of the herbs, and only stuck to what I felt would be helpful for the ecig community. I also left off the purposed negative effects in part because I have not looked for the negative yet. I will look tomorrow and see if anything drastic I should post about each herb.

The websites that I looked (I looked at about 3 for each herb) said people have used various forms of each herb such as smoking, ingesting, and topical uses. I couldn't find anything specifically about "vaping" it, then again I honestly didn't look that hard as I was looking at alternative health websites and not something with vaping in particular. I am spending today looking at negative side effects and more info regarding each herbs normal (ie smoked, ingested etc) use. I will compile a list much like my first post, or edit my post to reflect what I find.

I think this is all interesting but keep in mind that your lack of sleep is probably because you have less toxins in your body promoting your tiredness and also if you're like a lot of new vapers or veteran ones, you might be vaping a lot more taking in more nicotine than you used to... It being a stimulant promotes your lack of sleep... 2 things to thing about :)

I wonder how you would turn the herbs into a liquid form to add to ejuice.....I know there's a lot of herbs people recommend for this that or the other to take on a daily basis...might be easier to get them in their natural form, extract the good stuff, and vape it instead of taking pill forms of it :) I need something to work on my memory. I'm only 30 but remember stuff like an 80 year old man :)

Ok so this is what I could find on the negative side effects. Keep in mind that I did not post signs of allergic reaction, which is possible with almost anything. Also take note that only a few of these are approved by the FDA (but if you are an ecig user I don't think you care about that) If you have any medical condition or worried about anything I would ask a doctor about each herb to see how It might interact with you.

Elecampane- Rare, can cause dermatitis.

Mullein- Rare, reports of skin irritation.

Osha root- Pregnat woman are advised to abstain, due to may make pregnancy difficult.

Yerba Mansa- may interact with some sedative medication causing extreme sleepiness.

Yerba Santa- No reported side effects.

Dandelion- GRAS- however may interact with some medications. Few reports of heart burn

Licorice root- may interact with medication, heart, liver, or kidney disease you should refrain from using it. May reduce testosterone levels, Abstain if you're on diuretics or have hypothyroidism.

Lobieala*- In large dose fatal (39.9 mg/kg in rats)

Cordyceps- No reported side effect. Acts as a blood thinner take caution if taking blood thinning meds.

Reishi mushroom- no reported side effects. It can interfere with immunosuppressive drugs or organ transplants; in addition, sensitive people may experience symptoms of detoxification as it goes to work on the body. Those include dizziness, digestive upset, skin rashes or sore bones.

Valerian Root-Headache, restlessness, upset stomach, or drowsiness/tiredness after waking up may occur. Rare serious side effects nausea/vomiting, stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine, extreme tiredness.

Melatonin- Rare cases of Dizziness, Headaches, Abdominal discomfort, Confusion, Sleepwalking, Nightmares, as well as previous stated drug interactions.

Damiana- GRAS- Rare reports of disorientation, dizziness, headache, ........ and insomnia

This took a bit longer to compile then the benefits portion largely in part because there are very little studies done on them (positive or negative).

In conclusion I know that I am going to try it. The side effects of these herbs look no different to me then side effects of known prescription drugs. Actually some of the prescription drugs for sleep aid are much worse. I am going to try it and see how it works for me. YMMV and its your choice on what you want to put in your bodies.

*Lobieala -I could not find this as it is spelled on nhalers website. I used what google corrected it too, Lobelia. So this information might be wrong. This is actually a very interesting herb and I suggest that you read about it.

I've been using Lung Juice in the evenings for the past week. Can't really say that it makes me sleep better, but it does seem to make me very relaxed, making getting to sleep a little easier. There's an older thread over at Nhaler's slice of the site talking about Lung Renewal Juice, that got me interested in this stuff.

One week isn't really long enough to positively identify benefit (or harm) of course, but I really like it so far. One of the variables is that my daily vape is 24-26 mg/ml whereas the Lung Juice clocks in at 12mg/ml. So, the lighter nicotine load helps, but there's something else going on. With straight-up 12mg/ml nicquid, I'll chain-vape my way into a nic-coma (and stay up 'till 4am), but with the Lung Juice, I don't. After a dozen hits (more or less), I'm drowsy enough to put down the PV and turn off the lights.

FWIW, I've been using (and loving) the Pear Lung Juice. I tried the Green Tea, but it's a sharp flavour in vapour form, and the taste seems to linger a bit more than I'd like.

Thanks for the thread - it's a handy summary of what the herbs in LJ do. Bookmarked. :)

These types of things can be bought and consumed orally. Why the need to vape it? Just seems like unnecessary risk to me.

Personal preference I guess.
This is true, but I personally was looking for something in vape form, And this looks like it could be it. Like I said in the first post. I was looking for this kind of info on ECF and didnt find it. That is why I made it.

I dunno. i used to sell herbs and the like and love the idea of getting more folks to use them but vaping it.. Hmm dunno. I read someplace the FDA is sending out notices for e-cig companies that sell herbs to vape to stop the practice. It's a warning. If they sell herbs with medical or health claims then it's illegal because they are not controlled by Big Pharma and regulated by the FDA. There could be legal action taken.

Myself I personally feel you have the right to do whatever you want with your body. I think we know less about vaping those kinds of substances than we do about nic liquid, PG,VG and flavorings and should be extra cautious. I would love to know that doing so is as least as safe as what we vape now and had some that really worked well. I could stand to vape something to help me sleep myself. I suppose the idea is if you vape it the stuff may effect you faster as opposed to taken orally.

There should have been some lab studies done with good results first before anyone started selling herbs and the like to vape. I think any company doing so without data is negligent to it's costumer base and has much greater potential for doing harm to someone.

Just like the natural tobacco nicotine extractions many of us vape everyday. Separately, there are many known benefits of smoking different herbs for health. though not popular in western culture, many parts of the world have been smoking them for hundereds of years. many have even been known to make vape-able extracts vaped by using sun light to control temps with mirrors, lenses, and magnifying glass.

Now we have the ability to further control proper temps for true vaping through electricity. Which i think is great. Many plant extractions are as simple as using grain alcohol.
With some research adding VG, water, natural oils for flavor, and even nicotine if desired would be a definite possibility.
We buy and vape medicine all the time for lung illness. As the world slowly realizes how "big pharma" is even worse than "big Tobbaco" and makes the transition back to natural health i think vaping herbs for health with be the norm. At least in parts of the world not ruled and educated by those same tyrannical companies.
