Chim, when I was a kid, our local pharmacy (called a drug store, back then), had a soda fountain counter. My friend and I would go there every week and we each would order a cabinet. They would mix it up for us, right there and put it in a very large glass. It was huge and the cabinet only cost 50 cents. We could barely drink the whole thing.

Where I'm from we still call it a drug store. Those shakes sound amazing! It's amazing how things have changed! I would've been at that drug store every day getting me a cabinet or 2. I tell my nieces about the 1 cent candy store we used to have near the church when I was little. Every Sunday after Sunday school we'd all go there & get a bag full of candy for only .50. They think it's crazy & don't believe me. But they don't understand a world without smartphones & texting.

Oh yeah, 1 cent candy. There was a small variety store near my home, it was owned and operated by a husband and wife team. We would get penny candy there and his wife would make fudge and that cost us 2 cents a piece. They also had a large Coca Cola cooler, filled with ice and bottles of Coke. We would give them a nickle, take a bottle out of the cooler and drink it. We couldn't leave the store with the bottle, because the bottles were returned to the Coca Cola company.

I still live in the area. The little store is gone now, torn down years ago. Their house, which was behind the store is still there, but the husband and wife have long since passed away. They were elderly when I was a kid.

The old drug store is gone too. That building was torn down about 20 years ago and has been replaced with a bank. Now a CVS dominates the area.

Oh well, I think that I will call it a night, go to bed and dream about the old days, when this was a rural area. Now, it's more like a small city. :(

    Goodnight, Chim and Dale. :)
Good night Jer, sorry ... I was off exploring:blush:
Thanks Dale. Some days I don't feel so young.
My niece told me earlier that I was still young enough to go clubbing. Smh! I told her that even if I am I don't want to.

Of course you're still young enough you silly goose!
But I do know about feeling older than you are some days.
Do you work tomorrow? I forget.
