I despise cell phones, but it's ironic that I love laptops and tablets.

Me too, sometimes I think we are the last people in the world with a land line; course my dh needs it for faxes in his business :)

ECF is wigging I'm not sure I see the post quote it and then when I click post quick reply it says are you sure you want to leave this page, like its does when its going to post it twice. I say no and refresh the page and it looks like I posted first

I've had a lot of that the last few days ... it's not just you!

I've been eyeing a Lenovo ultrabook at Newegg .com

Wife wants to know what I want for my birthday in August....its an ultrabook! I can't build one, don't have many micro tools and I'm not sure my hands are steady enough at 57 to work in such minute conditions.

    Hey! I'm a August baby too :) Aug. 17th, no year:laugh:

I've been eyeing this one: Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 13.3-Inch Convertible Touchscreen Ultrabook

    Nice but a tad pricey.
    :)

You can get 90% of its performance in a $750 Ultrabook.....For my uses (net browsing, occasional Netflix/ Youtube, research) I don't need all that much.

This desktop pc has a $500 video card in it and a decent Intel quadcore overclocked to 3.35 Ghz (i7 860), 12 gb ram, its sufficient if I want to return to pc gaming (I don't)

Yeah, its price is holding me back.

I know you guys are talking ultra books but this is going to be my next laptop replacement. I have a 17.3 that sits on my raised coffee table for surfing the web while watching TV and VM ware for work so it doesn't go anywhere so I'm thinking this will do just fine.

Hey, it's been a good day! Several new members to the family, and a few longer term members checking in after being away for a while. I'm glad to see everyone! It's a good thing we've been renovating - looks like the extra space will come in handy, lol! GG, let me know when you check in here - when I add an avatar pic, I think it adds it to all my previous posts....

    8-o Don't text & drive!!!!!!!!! We'll still be here when you're done:)

Here's a TMI story. I know a couple with only one smart phone between them. When one of them needs to do a "big job" in the bathroom, they have to take the phone with them, so when we're out, if one says "hon, hand me the phone, I'm headed to the john", we all know why...

That's nice. I haven't seen that one before.

Dell has quality but their sales practices and tech support leave a lot to be desired.

I don't want or need their tech support. They show you a price that seems reasonable, by the time you add decent spec components to it that $899 laptop has become $1299 or more.

I want an upfront price and to see the specs (to research them if necessary)
