She has 6 kids... the 5th male is her husband. ;) They have four boys and two girls. She ended up having to have a hysterectomy after #4. She had one natural and 3 c-sections.

I'm sorry to hear your sons birth was traumatizing. :( Did you end up emergency c-section? I had two of those.

Do you have kids Aaron?

Nope, no kids.

I was traumatized by other peoples kids...I opted out before one!!:p

....that was me this a.m. - I believe I saw every hour of the clock from the time I went to bed until the time I got up this a.m. I know I shouldn't even look, because that only makes it worse. Then I calculate how many hours of sleep I can still get if I fall asleep right that minute......maddening.
There's a comedian that talks about not wanting any kids. He and his wife had decided not to have any. Not because they didn't like kids or anything.. it was just that they had met some. (They ended up 'surprised'. ;) )

Ugh! Sorry you had a rough night. And yeah... never look at the clock! I try to convince myself that it only feels like HOURS and has really only been minutes. But that makes me all curious so I have to look and see what it's really been.

Morning sickness, long protracted labor (no c-section), couldn't sit for weeks after (and couldn't get comfortable), baby wouldn't nurse, but wasn't happy with a bottle either, sleep deprivation, and then he developed colic. I flat wasn't prepared for any of that...I bought into the "oh, you just fall in love the minute you see him". To be honest, the first six months, I would have gladly given him back.

Just kidding....sort of.

It didn't help that my husband was gone from 5am until after 7pm. If the boy was still alive when he got home from work, I'd done my job for the day.

Once he was able to talk, things improved markedly, for both of us. Now, I think he's just the coolest kid (he's 26) ever: handsome, smart (mouthed :)), and just a blast to be around. But back then....na uh.

Yeah elf... funny how they don't tend to prepare you for the 'what if's'. I guess none of us would have kids if we really knew what we were getting ourselves into.

I'm one of those crazy women that would have had a dozen if I could have. (I wanted 13 to be exact. lol) But, two was good, too. ;) Besides, between my kids and their spouses and my grandkids... I now have my 13. :D

You have my sympathy on him having colic. Ooooh man. That is so hard to deal with! Especially when you're basically on your own.

Hope they get you all fixed up tomorrow Smoky! :)

What's really funny about the whole thing is, we had decided we weren't going to have kids. It was a second marriage for both of us and my husband already had 3 boys, aged 14, 16 and 17. He had gone to the urologist to see about getting a vasectomy, but didn't really like the doctor. Three weeks later.....oops! :)

I wouldn't change a thing now, but I truly understand some gals who go through postpartum issues. It sucks.

Definitely a good thing for me right now, maybe someday though. If I do have kinds I really want to adopt, too many kinds in this world in need of a good home.
