Like I said, they don't hurt at all (at least, they aren't painful "to me"...don't know about others' experiences :)). They're like seeing a flashing zigzag in your peripheral line of sight; then they slowly move and get larger/brighter....then they just fade away. The first time I had one I thought OMG...STROKE!!!!!!!! As I was online, I quickly put "zigzag in vision" into google and read up on it. They even had a picture that was pretty close to what I was "seeing".
Yup. Same here, I thought I was having a stroke or something the first time. I'm glad yours are painless. I get weather related ones. They're the pits. Thank God above for Excedrin Migraine. I only take it when I absolutely have to but thankfully it knocks them down.

Not that I'm aware of. Mine tend to be stress related, but I guess I haven't been under enough much stress lately because I haven't had an episode in months.

Well if it is stress related that would explain why i get them. Actually had one a couple days ago while trying to set up screen files at a theater, couldn't see the bottom of the screen.

Mine tend to go away more quickly if I can close my eyes for a while

Mine have looked like a sideways lightening bolt, or z shape. Sometimes it just hovers, and just barely moves, sometimes it's like seeing shooting stars. It's really a strange sensation....for me....8-o:p.

yeah the one I had the other day was like a stretched out V, actually lightning bolt is a pretty good description.

Like I said, haven't had one in months...now, Dale on the other hand....hope hers has passed off by now.

Sheesh.. I missed that dale was having that. :(

Lori... soooo sorry! Migraines are just horrid and to have the flashing light thing at the same time. Booooo!

I get migraines now and then (not as often now that I don't smoke... YAY.) Mine are just on the right side of my head.

Years ago, I got a migraine that I was pretty sure was going to kill me. My mother in law had to come get me from work and take me to the doctor. Turned out it was a very weird and rare virus. I was the 4th person in NM to get it. Oh boy... how special.

I had to put thick bedspreads over the bedroom windows so not a speck of light could get in. I literally crawled to the bathroom.. standing up was out of the question. Lasted four days. Shudder.

I used to get those visual disturbances all the time when I was on birth control. A few times I had numbness on one side of my face or one arm. No headache, just the flashing zig-zag line that would start on one side & a blind spot, that gradually took over most of my vision for about a half hour or so. Doc said it was vascular spasms. They've eased off considerably in recent years, which makes me really happy!
