Given the same building blocks and input there are 3 camps IMO.
Camp 1, which I think makes up the majority of the population, can't see the potential and need to have it spelled out (or in this case actually produced) for them to get it and/or buy it. From 25+ years of retail management and ownership I'd guess that this makes up about 80% of the general population. The percentage is probably a little lower in an enthusiast forum such as ECF but not much I would think. This is not a knock on anyone, my dad is extremely intelligent, much smarter than I am, and I look up to him in many things but for some reason spatial and aesthetic things challenge him. He can tell you if he likes something but can't tell you why to save his life.
Camp 2, which I believe is a smaller percentage of the population, can see the potential and envision the end product but don't have the skills/equipment/knowledge and/or desire to actually produce it. These are the ones who will be actively involved in the decision making process and giving input to the maker. These are the custom order customers.
Camp 3, again an even much smaller percentage, are the ones who can see it and actually take it from vision to end product. These are the talented modders and builders who we are fortunate to have here. I'm guessing this would actually be about 1-2% of the population.
Given that camp 1 is a majority of the population it makes sense that having an inventory of items to choose from will drive sales.
I've always believed in and followed the laws of 3s in retail whether it be 3 levels of quality (ie good/better/best) or 3 different design styles, etc. Any more than 3 choices can cause uncertainty and stall the buying process.
When considering all this, keep in mind that 95% of all statistics are made up on the spot and that I haven't had enough coffee yet this morningAny and all of this may have no resemblance to or bearing on actual life. Just some observations from my presently nicotine and caffeine deprived brain.

Hahaha, I love it...that's pretty funny, but I really do bet close to accurate. Though I think camp 2 is higher here on the forum as those guys and gals are keeping my @$$ so busy, I barely have time for the camp 1ers....LOL. But I am trying.
Couple of items that are becoming apparent to me. My standard size of 18mm is wrong. The vast majority here has wanted, purchased or preferred much smaller tips. 15mm seems more realistic for my standard now. I guess smaller tips are the "in" thing now, where a short while back, really loooong tips were the rage. Gotta keep up with the times. Oddly enough, I thought fatter tips wood be more desired, but my standard 11mm seems to be hitting the mark. I originally thought 10mm but I didn't produce them because the walls thickness was dangerously thin and din't want anyone's tips to crack or be too fragile. So 11mm is the standard, but will happily make up to 16mm, maybe a tad larger on special request with the right piece of wood. So anyway, I will be starting to work on making up some inventory of all the woods I have and will make them all around 11mm in diameter and 15mm tall.
Today a new controller board arrives to make my life easier. Finally will go full CNC which will let me cut out some custom brackets for my DRO (digital readout) so I will know exactly at all times, whether cutting manual or computer controlled. This is also going to let me fully disclose the next phase of the services/products I will be offering. All the logistics are finally worked out for it, just haven't had to time to make it happen. SOOOOOON!
With all that being said, it's my Bday weekend. Going out for dinner later today and plan to chill on Sunday (yes I have to listen to Elvis music on my Bday since it's the day he died) and do what I want to do......LOL. But more than likely since I love playing with electronics, tools and computers, it will involve playing with the CNC lathe/mill setup. Another reason is that absolutely stunning red mallee shell Pdib made for me is calling my name to complete. CNC mill + wood shell needing caps = well you might see were this is heading....hint...hint and the future possibilities.....
On the carbon fiber covered GDNA mods. Sigh. I screwed up in a major way this week and ordered sleeving about 3 times the size I needed. So called and talked to a super nice guy named John at Soller Composites who helped me figure out the right size. Let me tell you, their web site is horrible and why I messed up the first order. At least he gave me first shipping on the second order.....LOL. Expensive as the stuff is, every bit helps. But I did find a future use for the wrong stuff. Sorry for all the babble, but my point is that this is going to be my standard stock stuff I am going to make up.
On the same subject, is there really a desire for CF drip tips too? I am more than happy to buy supplies if so. My preference on this would be a PM stating the desire to purchase.
Last statement and I will shut the hell up, for now...lol, I have not forgot about all the folks expressing interest in the router style wood tips. Promise that is high on my list. Already cut some blanks for it, just nervous about putting cutter to wood just yet as I haven't figured out a jig to accurately reproduce just yet, but think on it often. Holy crap, i wrote a damn book.

Quick share here. if you want to change the color of the Peko ring easily I just found that the cheapie Fasttech vape bands ( the ones that have fasttech printed on them) Turn them inside out and they stretch to fit perfectly. And yes, I know the drip tip I have on her looks silly! I'm gonna be getting that fixed in a day or so, thanks to Drunk_J and his awesome work!

Yeah, couldn't be more perfect! The finish also matches exactly with my freshly oiled wood. Perfect size for me too.
