Happy New Year everyone! I've been gone a little longer than expected due to winter storm Goliath, but home now. Glad to hear things are getting a little better, Jasen. Here's what I'm doing tonight:

And here's what I'd recommend if you ever get a chance. Seriously, the best beer I've ever had:

Very good choice and yes, I have had it. The only thing I really, really love that I cannot get in my area is AleSmith Beers.

Anyway, glad you are having a great new years eve, hope your year is a wonderful one, filled with loads of good beer!

It's a total unicorn beer, right? I just got lucky in at a liquor store in DC. I want a whole case. Man that stuff is soooo good. I tell you what, though, that stuff is strong. That would've been one hell of a conversation if I'd had the chance to talk to you that night ;)

Hahahaha, yeah, it is a kick in a the pants. Considering some of our past conversations...I'd bet it would have really been good....hahahaha. I can get the 90min IPA and 60min IPA pretty common around here, but there is a rare occasion to get the 120min and it's worth it. If you ever get a chance to try any Alesmith, don't pass it up. Really nice guy that owns the brewery too, I had a chance to talk with him a few times. But they are a very small brewery and don't distribute very far.

Well, it sounds like the confederate redneck brigades have called for a cease fire tonight finally, or either they ended up passed out on the ground or in the hospital. Whichever way, just glad my house is finally quiet and not sounding like a war zone still. OMG it was totally crazy there for a while. My poor little fuzzy .... weazel didn't know what to think. One thing for sure, you don't want to be holding him when a boom occurred or you would be in the hospital. His nickname for this week is shredder, I haven't had a chance to clip his nails since my surgery and damn they need it.

I get to go back east only about once a year, but hopefully we'll move back in a few years if I can convince the GF to move. I'll definitely check out Alesmith next time.
I didn't realize how strong the 120 min was, and I had bought 2 pretty strong beers to have the night before we had to get up at 4am for an early flight out of DC. Then I got nervous about packing a bottle in my checked bag, so I opened it and drank it... whoops. I was still still drunk when I woke up. Made the plane ride into Atlanta during the crazy storm/flooding quite an adventure.

East won't do you any good for Alesmith. It is out of California. I think it is only distributed in a few states out west. I only got some doing a beer trade with a friend.

So you were in Hotlanta huh? Only a couple hours from me. Gotta love our hot raining weather..eh? Though a cold snap is coming in for the weekend. And probably why my body has me on lockdown. Been a really rough day with these big pressure changes. Was doing great earlier in the week, now I feel like dog doo that has been ran over, slung up on the mud flaps of a semi, dried up, fallen off and ran over again.....LOL....visual enough for you? hahaha

Aww hell, Jasen, that sucks... yeah, weather does a real number on your joints, huh? Love the visual! Hope you have some good whatever you need to get you through. Should be a pretty chill weekend for me, so hopefully I'll have a chance to get in touch if you're feeling up to it.

Thanks! And sure thing, call away. I always keep some of the good stuff stashed for days like this. But overall, everything has been moving in a positive direction. I know there will still be days like this, so I save for the rainy days...literally...loL. It'll be good hearing for you again, been a while.

We'll do a trade next time I come your way. Spring, I think.

Woohoo, sounds like a plan. They make really nice beer. I put them up there with DogFishHead and Stone any day of the week.

Makes me reminisce about the days I made beer. Nothing like the fun process and wonderful smells of liquid bread being made. Too bad the South only has a few good breweries. But they rarely go out into the realm of really big, big beers.

Damnit, I am going to go raid the fridge now and see what kind of crazy things I have hidden away in that corner nobody sees....LOL...or rarely my short wife can't see and steal them from me....hahahaha.

OMG!!! Look what I just came across in that dark little corner nobody sees (as I hide stuff in front of it...LoL). An Old Guardian from Stone Brewery. My absolute favorite Barely Wine Beer. And a 2014 bottle at that....how did that happen. Let me tell you, it is smooth, hints of buttery toffee, crazy hops and perfect for tonight. I had a nice bottle of Gigondas set aside for tonight, but I think this was just what was in order! And at 11.6% alcohol, think this is gonna be just what the doctor ordered for what Ales me.....LOL!

Redbrick brewery is in Atlanta.

I used to be in love with dogfishead IPAs a longtime ago, Orkney ale's SkullSplitter is an absolute favorite as well as Bell's two hearted ale.
Old Rasputin was my favorite stout and Samuel Smith's winter welcome a classic.
There are shops in Atlanta like Greens or Suwanee package that stock the 120minutes and all the above at all times, everything from Stone, Tommy knocker, lefthand, etc.
I always thought sierra nevada celebration was divine.
Then there is the heavyweight champion golden draak...a Belgian crusher worthy of the name.
