I may be having buyers remorse. I just got into vaping and I started with ego Twist with some Kanger Carts. I loved this setup and though I needed to step up my game. So I combed over so many e-cig forums and visited some brick and morter places here in so.cal.
I really liked the size and feel of the Provari mini...and bit the bullet. Currently I have a Vision Viva Nova STV tank with a 2.4ohm atomizer vaping at 4.0-.3V. I get good vapes, but taste not as good as on the Carts. I am soooo wanting to get rba (Genesis/Phoenix/Cobra)...but paying 150plus will my vaping expectations be met?....I still luv egoTwist with Cart...Provari mini with Viva Nova Tank growing on me though, but flavor just not there....

check out discountvapers.com they have a DID knock of called the griffin they also have a cobra clone. Try one of these they are very close to any gennsis atty IMO. I have a real DID, AC9, Defcon minis, atom bomb they are all awesome and the AC9 is my fav. but dont spend $150 on one till you get a cheaper clone, to see if its something you really enjoy.

Heck get a $9 smoktech tank and some 3ohm cartos and blow clouds all dat swhat I do. I used to drip on standard res joyetech atties and loved it for well over a year then revisited carto tanks and it was pretty good this time around. Juices are sooo much better now HHV hint hint and the experience is hassle free and tastes oh so good. I have RBA's and think they are a serious pain in the ... to make coils. You can get used to anything but it is ultimately up to you as to how satisfied you wanna be. Get a pheonix RBA sumpthin' cheap and fiddle with that til you are sure RBA is the way you want to go. Genisis, Zen... meh!

I'm still new and think I found a decent middle ground with carto tanks for my Provari. Tried what I believe were knock off vivi novas and they sucked. I still use my ego twist for work and nights out and the only clearo that has worked well me for have been kangers. i don't like dripping as its a hassle, but i have a feeling I'm missing out on some flavor with my current setups. I was looking at gennys, but I need something that won't spill in my pocket as I'm mostly on my feet during work. I'm patiently waiting for my Ithaka, but pulled the trigger on an Ody clone, Terminator, to tide me over.

the nova's are super reliable but not the best for flavor.

for starting with geni's get one of the AGA versions, very affordable and work just fine. and for 25 bucks it doesnt burn your pocket to see if you like it.

you can always try a carto tank as well nowhere near as expensive as a high end geni, and everyone says wicked vapor and flavor.

Despite their popularity (probably because of their ease of use and being inexpensive), I found the vivi nova style tanks to lack in flavor production, too.

My preference on my Provari is pyrex cartotanks. Pyrex is superior to plastic as it is a totally inert material and will not suffer from leaching into the juice or cracking or melting by certain flavors. Carto's allow for better flavor, and in a tank the carto stays bathed in juice allowing it to last longer than when used solo.

I highly recommend IBTanked - Get Tanked With Us!. The 19mm diameter size fits perfectly on top of a Provari. Prices start at $20. I have seven of these so far, each with their own flavor of juice. I did a review of these at this link: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tank-reviews/349222-ibtanked-pyrex-glass-tanks.html

The XL size needs a 45mm carto. The standard size needs a 35mm carto. I recommend using laser-drilled cartos for beginners. Cartomizers and drip tips are available for purchase on the website.

XL and standard size IBTanks on Provari's. XL IBTanks on my BB and Provari.

I'm not sure why you even mention the provari mini. It sounds like you just don't like vivi nova's. You can use the "Kanger Carts" or any other 510 device on your provari, although if you're talking about T-3's you'll need an adapter to handle the ego threads.

I like the viva novas because I dont have to drip, also it fits in my pocket very niceley does not leak. I think the more I vape the more flavor it gets...but still seems muted. I have varied the voltages higher..but I like it around 4-4.3, thats just me.

I am going to try Tank/Carto combo for now since I dont have the funds or the will power to hunt down one the USA made atty's.
...of all the China Knockoffs which one best made.

Thanks all

It really will depend on the juice. For you sounds like your using a juice that tastes better in cartos. I like the vivi novas myself - I don't notice muted flavor and since I use cartos too I would if it was the case. Some find carto tanks not so good, some don't like vivi novas. I'd say give a carto tank a try. It's nothing to do with your pv really - you can always pop a carto on it while your waiting for a new tank to arrive.

Before you invest in a tank and all the accessories to make it work well (carto punch, slap your momma tool or clone equivelent, etc.) you might consider just trying some of the cartos. They cost a couple of dollars at most and you'll quickly find out if cartos are the way you want to go and what brand you prefer. Also decide if you like the xl or regular length cartos best and buy the correct size tank.

I really like my AGA-T and A7s. Both inexpensive RBA but very good quality for their price.

There is a Co-Op going on for AGA RBA & carto-tank at the moment. May want to look into it.

you could still use cartos and cartotanks with the 'vari just fine, i never liked the novas either to be completely honest....

as for your RBA dillema, try an AGA-T. its a solid unit that doesn't come with the price tag.

Like other posters, I'm not the biggest fan of the Viva Novas, but they are reliable and easy to use for beginners. Definitely easier to use than a carto tank, but I'm glad I put in the time to figure how to use tanks since I like them much better. All the RBA talk I see though has me edging towards trying one of the inexpensive ones. But just the thought of needing to get a torch, season my mesh, and figure out how to wrap a coil has me sweating.

It's really not too bad to get the hang of it. I jumped right in and bought a iHybrid and after 2 tries had the coil working great.
