so far my 402 has been delightful. i'm not a fan of the flavored carts though, hoping to get some liquid this weekend!
other than that, i'm just keeping in mind that it takes the atomizer a few days to warm up, but atm the vapor isn't too bad.
one question...is the throat hit related to the strength of nicotine?

i got some juice from esmokeytreats coming in hopefully soon to compare with the JC. i'm digging the chocolate mint, the vanilla ice cream, the peach, strawberry, cherry flavor, and vanilla blended with original tobacco is good. chocolate almond too...the coffee is blech, so is the tennessee cured, so if anyone wants a trade....small bottle with dropper of each. the EST stuff i have coming in is all strong strength, so i'm gonna get some PG to cut it.
as for the carts...i like the design. i use a paperclip to push the inner receptacle up, then fill to where the liquid is just above the polyfill, and use the atomizer/battery to push it back down. this ensures decent contact with the wick, and as long as i don't overfill, no juice in my mouth. sometimes i'll drip one or two drops onto the metal piece surrounding the heating element, esp if it's coming out of alcohol or dried out.
i have to say, i don't know if these carts are filled enough with polyfill. it's making not so great contact with the atomizer, and i'm finding that the best solution (for now, at least) is to pull off the cart, pop the inner piece up high, and kind of mix the polyfill with whatever juice is left in there to wet the top again...then put it back in. it just seems to continue to compress the polyfill...if there were only like, 10mm^3 more polyfill in there, i think it would be perfect. any reason not to replace with slightly more polyfill, if i can get some?

Just wanted to add that, after a couple of days now, looks like everything is 'breaking in'. Much easier draw, more consistent vape, etc. Sure would like to thank everyone (especially Fedor - you've supplied a ton a great info on the 401) so that I had some idea of what to expect. If this keeps up, I will be very pleased with my new toy. Must admit that I'm still very partial to my penstyle though but at least my 401 works ... as opposed to my pen. Now just have to re-read this thread and others to learn the in's and out's of refilling carts, dipping, etc. and I'm off to the races. Figuratively speaking, of course. Again, thanks to all the members who share their experience and knowledge for all us newbies.

My 4 atomizers and 50ml of juice arrived today from Eastmall... was only in customs for 1 day. No sign of order from RuyanDirect yet, but I did that one airmail so who knows? It was a small order.
The juice i ordered was 36mg and the flavor is strong on the one I have tried so far (vanilla) so I can cut it no problem. I got some Glycerin USP from the pharmacy and also found a great site to get VG and PG at good prices. The glycerin definitely kicked up the vapor though i only used a little... 1 drop to 10 drops of pg flavored nic in my dipping case. The vapor is great without this addition, but I really like the way a little glycerin mixed in makes the vapor thicker and linger longer... more like a real cig. Now to do more research on cutting the 36mg juice properly for my needs....
I did dip my first taste of the vanilla at full strength and I might keep a little like that around. I only needed two vapes and I was good. I have only had so far the Johnson Creek sample pack and the nic was not strong enough as i found myself vaping a LOT! This vanilla from EastMall is quite strong and I don't know if it is the nic but great throat hit! Wowza, I had no idea. The other flavors in the customized sample I got are: Spearmint, chocolate, coffee, and strawberry.
My first m401/2 atomizer is still kicking really well (since the 18th of April) and the only maintenance I have been doing is blowing out and so far a couple of alcohol baths. I did notice once I stopped using carts and exclusively dipping (not dripping) the atomizer seems to work much better and it all just tastes cleaner.
Fedor: is the juice at Absolutely e-cigs the same that eastmall carries? If so, I can do my next order through them if I find a flavor i want to buy in bulk... If not, I will keep an eye out on if they start allowing customized samplers. That is... if come Tuesday, we can still get any liquid at all. Another reason I am glad i got this shipment when i did! But from what you have said in other threads and other opinions out there... smaller shipments through EMS should be safe at least for awhile? I hope so. I am happy to have a total of 5 atomizers so far now instead of just the one. I dare not open any of the new ones till this one die though... until we know if we can still get them after Tuesday... But a simple alcohol bath seems to get rid of any old flavoring and cleans the atomizer like new... so can still try these new liquids as they are meant to be.

Cool! Let me know how the tobacco flavor suits you( I believe that was one of the offerings in their sampler). if it seems good, that could be my bulk order. I can mix it with some of the spearmint i just got and make some really nice menthol ciggies
I have a friend i would like to create an m401 care package for his birthday in July and he is a menthol smoker so probably best to make him something as close as possible to what he has been smoking to start out with. I also used to smoke menthols some of the time. So I can go either way But I am finding the variety in flavors of vaping much nicer.. I have already gotten a distate for "analogs".. This alone is a miracle! I have had three real cigs in the past 3-4 days. Far cry from the 1 to1 1/2 packs a day over the last 20 years! The higher nic may just get me off completely very soon

I have never ordered from Eastmall. But i am quite certain that all liquids are pretty much from the same place in China. The reason some members have been complaining of substandard liquid from US suppliers is probably due to cutting. Many suppliers will order high nic juices and cut them to get maximum profit. This will usually affect the flavor. The more experienced ones should be able to compensate this with flavoring manipulation but this will mean further dilution. So i don't really know how this can be solved with my limited knowledge.
I am certain that EMS packages will get through. Just don't order 10 starter kits and 5 litres of liquid. In fact, stick to purchasing atomisers, batteries and chargers separately, without the kit (therefore, without any labelling). If you want a starter kit, just order 2 batteries, 1 atomiser and a charger. It will surely get through this way. I don't care how efficient the customs are.
Good tip! No actual starter kits, just parts. And yeah... liquid and parts should be ordered separately.. I read somewhere on here yesterday that a china shipper threw in a free atomizer with his order of e-liquid and the combination made it labeled so that customs seized it. Best to be very careful now. This has been a good thing and do not want to lose it!
Ugh now you got me sweating my order Fedor. I ordered 2 starter kits since it seemed economically a better deal than the parts load up. Hoping its not a big deal in customs to get it.
Not speaking for fedor and he will probably have a better answer than me... but I am guessing you should still be fine.. If there is a crackdown they will focus on ALL the LARGER shipments suppliers have made that are still being held in customs (one I know for sure since the 15th of April... like they are just waiting for Tuesday) I think the smaller orders will all still get through for a bit no matter what... They will first focus on the big guys to starve the US supplers out.

I ordered 2 kits and other supplies from ruyandirect. Ordered on the 28th and they went through customs today. You should be alright.
Excellent info. Excited to get it but 10 days seems to be the max wait time. Im in cali so we shall see how long it takes.
I'm not in any way saying that kits will have problems. I'm just offering another level of security for panic freaks.
The point i'm trying to make is that I feel EMS is totally safe. 2 or 3 or even 5 starter kits should still be fine. There is no need to separate small amounts of liquid (say a few hundred ml) with starter kits/ parts. Liquid and ecigs are equally illegal imo. Why separate them? If one gets seized, the other one will too.
Just order as usual is my opinion. Get it from reputable vendors. I get mine from the manufacturer because they are more anxious than us to get their products through customs. Its their business and they'll display more responsibility. Other resellers/ traders can always switch to selling fake Iphones or Gucci bags if the whole ecig business becomes too tough to earn a living.

As per your and a few others excellent reviews of Absolutely Ecig Fedor, i decided to just order everything from them at once and get the deal with the flat rate shipping. Excited to Ecig and dump smelly analogs.

I have an EVO and I love it! It's out of commission for a few days because of a weird battery incident - I decided to charge one of my batts via my netbook and it (for lack of a better word) melted. I could smell burning, and when I looked there was a burn mark on the white paint, just above the connector, and brown melty gunk at the LED. Very odd. The batt and charger are being replaced (thanks Sean!)
I was also finding that my batt would cut off frequently, way before the 7 seconds. So maybe it was just a defective battery. I do want to get the passthrough - just got one for my 901 and what a difference.
Also thanks for such detailed info about absolutelyecigs. I have a supplier here that I love (Sean at electronic-cigz), but eventually I want to do a big bulk order and it's nice to know that this company is reliable.

I got excited about the teabag method a few days before I got my first m401, but all I did when I got it was make a mess when I tried it. I might try it again sometime as it was preferable to the filler in the carts.. I just seem to do better with dipping full time. I do have an order of 20 blank carts on the way (mostly for the backup mouthpieces).. but I can play around with them and try the teabag thing again. I admit I gave up pretty fast as I am stingy about losing any juice!
Purr: what you might want to try is to just use VG,PG, and flavoring to make a 0 nic juice. That way if you end up making a mess of things you're only out a couple of cents, rather than wasting precious juice. Besides, i found out i don't mind mindlessly vaping 0 nic, when spacing out in front of the computer. I also wanted to try using teabags/coffee filters, but have been too busy concocting juice to try.
I just got some 36mg unflavored, and surprisingly i found out vaping this either straight, or cut with vg is a nice change.
