I'm going to give you a different kind of review than you're used to. Instead of breaking down the mod and going through pros and cons, I'm going to tell you one thing about it, explain why I believe it, and make a short comment. Then I'll end with a final word about the RS.
The Rough Stack V2 is the most durable tube mod to be found - bar none - period - exclamation mark
I thought that before, but now it isn't just assuming, it's true fact to me and here's what made me believe:
I helped a friend with his cattle the other day. We polled horns, gave inoculations, replaced faded or damaged ear tags, and branded some yearlings that were missed last year because they were pastured elsewhere for a while. Anyone who has ever done this will tell you this is physical and rough work. Even the most experienced cowboys come away from a day of this with a few bruises.
I was knocked down a couple of times. I was smashed between the split rail fence and a yearling steer a couple of times. I got kicked and nicked pretty much all day long. - My rough stack was in my jeans pocket all day and survived some serious abuse.
I vaped for a few minutes on the tailgate of the pickup before we headed back to the house. I got distracted by making sure some of the gear was tied down and I left my RS on the tailgate when I got in the truck. At about 40 mph I check the rear view and see my RS bouncing through the grass in the ditch behind us. I stopped, backed up, got out, found it, picked it up, looked it over. The only thing seriously wrong with it was that I lost the drip tip.
I drove to the ranch house with my friend. It's a big old farm house with 2 full stories and a converted attic. We went up to the converted attic where there's a small TV room and a nice deck built out over the 2nd story roof. We went out on the deck to have a beer and sit in the rocking chairs. I was enjoying my beer and having a vape. I set my RS on the railing and got up to go get another beer when I knocked my RS off the railing where it banged off the 2nd story roof and then fell about 25 feet to the ground.
I went outside, found it, picked it up, and vaped it right there. It got a pretty good scratch from either the roof or the ground, but I'm pretty sure I could buff it out if I wanted to spend the time trying.
My ride showed up and I dug out a fresh carto. I relaxed in the passenger seat happily vaping away through the 90 minute ride home.
That's why I believe I can count on my RS. If it can take a day like that and come away with nothing but a couple of scratches and maybe a ding, then it is a well designed piece of equipment made from durable parts.
My Short Comment: I think the next time I see someone comparing the RS to some fancier mod and saying that the fancier mod is better constructed some how or has the mystical "build quality" that the RS supposedly doesn't possess, I'm going to set them straight.
I know the RS isn't the end all be all PV for every tube mod user. Lots of people want something more fashionable or something that has a precision finish, or something of a specific size or build material. Some people need different functionality with a button not so close to the connector...etc. etc. If you're someone with an active lifestyle where situations at work or play might ever put your PV at risk, you won't find anything else that can do a better job of taking a beating and continuing to function. Anyone who engages in any rough physical activities at work or play should really consider owning a rough stack.
