I have been thinking of ordering one, but now hearing of some issues of late so I am not so sure.

Never had any trouble with mine. It looks and acts exactly as advertized. - If I were in the market for another one, I think I'd get the one with the voltage indicator, though. My one and only gripe is that the trim pot is very sensitive. Small movement of the wheel = big change in voltage, so it isn't what I consider to be completely pocket friendly. I could mitigate that problem easily by marking some arbitrary spot on the wheel and scratching a little mark to match on the housing... In fact, I guess if I did that, I wouldn't have anything to complain about, but I think I'd still prefer the voltage indicator.

I've got 3 pairs of 14500's that I use in my mods, grey Ultrafires, Trustfire flames, and AW IMR's. The UF's and TF's are rated at 900 mah, the AW's at 600 mah. The grey UF's won't even work in my madvapes VV boxmod as the protection circuit on the battery trips when I set anything over 4 volts (this may just be my batt's though as others have said they use them without a problem). The Trustfires work but the voltage falls off pretty quickly and vapor production drops. The AW's just keep working about the same until they just stop.

Some of it has to do with the voltage, but mostly it's the drain rate and amperage that the batt's are capable of. The grey UF's are a low drain protected li-ion battery, the TF flames are a high drain protected li-ion, and the IMR's are a high drain safe chemistry unprotected cell. The UF's just can't produce enough amperage at higher voltage. The TF's can but don't drain as fast as the IMR's so the IMR's can produce higher amperage faster and for a longer period of time. That's my take on it anyway. Anyone else care to elaborate?

I use an Evercool type box mod(way more efficient chip) with everything upto a 1.5ohm DCC @ upto 6v(usually 5v) pulling well over 3a...I do this with the grey Ultrafires from MV with no problems...just my experience........
madjack:2cool:

p.s. I vape 5ml/day and get upto 10 hrs with these batts...I usually rotate out the 2 pairs I have around the 8hr mark or once in the morning and once in the evening...........mj

I have only used grey ultrafires & trustfire flames in my madvapes VV box....no problems at all with "tripping" protection & I vape between 4.5v & 6.0v (most often 5.2-5.5) all day, every day on this wonderful lil mod since the day it arrived. former 2 pack a day smoker, vaping just over 2 months now & I live w/ an e-cig in hand :) the ultra/trust-fires last me all day at work/commute (about 10 hrs) & I've yet to run them down to "not working".....figure its time for "freshly charged" batteries when I get home from work & just before I leave for work. it's been perfect so far.

That didn't work. I waited 10 minutes and then it worked

Must have got the regulator pretty hot. You might think about heatsinking it if you're a chainvaper. Some people will use a dab of thermal epoxy and then a penny on top of the thermal glue. Some will notch the penny with a grinder or a dremmel, but even though it makes a better heat sink that way, I'm not fond of defacing my nations currency, so I bought a small scrap of sheet copper from a roofing crew I saw doing a copper roof on a bank. Any sheetmetal shop should have scrap aluminum sheet too, so good heat sink material is easy to get. It isn't as cheap as a penny but it is perhaps more effective material and more easily customized for this purpose. The couple of bucks for a piece of scrap big enough to make a few dozen heatsinks is a good investment.

Yes, I do stovepipe  Can you take a picture of your mod so I can see what you are talking about? Thanks!!
I was using it set at the highest setting; but the cartomizer I was using was a 3.4oHm from Ikenvape, so I thought it would be okay.

There is a lot of glue protecting it; not sure where you are talking about putting a heat sink.

Oh yeah. I see what you mean. You have the version with the volt meter. -- I have the plain one.

Sorry. My suggestion is not going to be helpful. Your regulator board is under the glue.

Ahh. It doesn't have a volt meter though. But thanks for the try!

Weird. Mine has the batteries side by side on the right. The electronics are all on the far left. My regulator board is exposed facing down and I can see the trim pot when looking at it from the side.
