We're taking the kids out for a trunk or treat event the night before and then just trick or treating in the neighborhood on Halloween. First Halloween with just the wife and kids not on a military base or being forced to attend a church Halloween activity by other family because "they simply do not know what will happen in the neighborhood so they 'ban' tradition" and expect the rest of the family to go along with them or they "ban" themselves from those who don't, so....

Staying home and handing out candy. I like to see all the little trick or treaters.

Kinda sad that they mostly come before dark. Back in the day, we stayed out 'til 9:30 or so, came home... emptied our pillowcases (yes, pillowcases :D) ..... then went back out 'til midnight and filled them up again. Certainly didn't take our parents with us. They couldn't hang..... we were hardcore, lol

It's just not what it used to be. But, still fun :)

Thanks for the contest madvapes!

Oh the good ole days. Wouldn't start til dusk and had to be home by 9 until we were older, 10. The candy and stuff were bigger, the witches were badder and the fun was awesome. Pillow cases were what we used after that first one. I miss the popcorn balls and candied apples we would get as well. Every house was a treasure chest of goodies even if it was just a handful of pennies.

There were tons of more kids, the streets were filled with kids, ghouls, parents and the odd costumed animals.

I pity a lot of the kids of today, for what they are missing. Why I try to make Halloween fun.

First year had about 10 kids, next year plus word of mouth, about 50 and since, average over a 100.

I love Halloween!!!!!!

Used to be that we had lots of trick-or-treaters in the neighborhood. We would drop a white sheet made out like a ghost from the upper deck right next to the front door and scare them all. We stocked up on more candy than we knew what to do with... and ran out. Had to start handing out Almond Roca and other things we could find. The next year, we bought even more candy--and ran out. Then, suddenly, everyone stopped coming.... ...and we were left with eight bags of candy (I think we still have some). That was twenty years ago, when I first moved into this house...

This Halloween, we'll be taking our kids to go trick-or-treating with some friends who still have a lot of participating houses in their neighborhood. We don't leave until after dark--although it's clear that many of the little ones were probably out before us. For us adults, we enjoy the walk and each bring along an adult beverage to consume along the way...

My wife and I go by my Mother In Law's house and help hand out candy. No baloney, she gets around one thousand trick or treaters. She makes 750 bags, and runs out of them, then we give out loose candy. People in the town that we live in bring kids by the truckload. The police block off the streets in her neighborhood.
We have to go by her house early so we can get there before the neighborhood is blocked.

We will be in Pittsburgh to visit my son and grandchildren. We are going to a pumpkin patch that weekend for a hayride and carving a pumpkin - they get to draw it and I get to carve it and then, of course, we are going trick or treating - it is always so much fun to see them all decked out in their holloween gear!!!!

Trick or treat is one of my favorite nights of the year. I started putting up decorations (yes I am a dude) and extra lighting a few years ago (spiders and webbing with white lights on the fence). Now I have a few skeletons and hanging skulls. Then I decided it wasn't enough so I started giving out full sized candy bars to the kids. The first year I had 80, then 100, 140, and last year 200 treater's. I start buying my candy in advance and look for sales.

Trick or treat is always on a Thursday night in my county, for as long as I can remember (childhood). They do it so it's on a school night, jr high has a football game that night which occupies those kids, it's a school night so no youngin's have an excuse to be out late, and it rarely interferes with adult Halloween activities/parties, and traffic is less.

For trick or treat I'm giving out candy.... and for the real Halloween I am turning my clocks back. :)
