i also noticed that the aw imr 18500 1100 mAh is 10c, and going by bapgoods info, that means it could also easily handle the 7amp spec since its an 11amp max battery!...?

did i get that right baps??

a pair of those in parallel might be ok? i know thats out of spec (...i think, but maybe running 2 in parallel is still considered 1s? <--altho that seems totally wrong) :)

Hey does anybody know if there is a built I'm charging circuit or if their charging board would work for pass through charging?
You need the additional charging board and you can vape as it charges but not pass through as the charge board only puts out 500mA.
DNA Charger

Our Micro-USB charging module lets you add the functionality of onboard charging to your DNA 12 project or can be used as a standalone charger for non-DNA projects. It is designed for charging 3.7V 1S Li-Ion and Li-Poly cells. An onboard status LED illuminates red when charging, green when fully charged, and orange when no battery is present. Mounting holes for #2 screws are provided for easy attachment.
Input Voltage: 4.5-5.5VDC
Charge Current: 500mA
Charge Voltage: 4.2V
Input Interface: Micro-USB
Dimensions: 0.5″ x 0.6″ x 0.14″
Mounting: #2 screws 0.30″ apart on center
Purpose: charger for 3.7V 1S Li-Ion & Li-Poly Cells (can be used with the DNA 12 or as a standalone charger)

I have two question for those who already have these:

1) The cutout for the screen, are you just under sizing the hole a little and placing the screen behind it?

2) How are you securing the chip to the mod? For my DNA12, I epoxied it in place. I want to get away from this if (for some reason) I have to do repairs or send it back.

that would be 1s2p, 1s = 3.7v 2p = 2 cells in parallel, 2s2p is 7.4v with 2pairs of 2 cells in parallel tehn wired in series

lurking here, great stuff

I have the same questions, especially number one. I'd hesitate to mess around with a 50 dollar brain knowing that I'd likely break or uglify the display such that looking at my finished work would adorn my face with a frown and send my hand reaching for another mod... ;)

1) First, I carefully removed the thin black transparent piece of plastic adhered to the screen and used that as a guide to cut a 1.5mm thick piece of plexiglass and also the cutout in the case. The plastic piece is 21mm x 7mm and is a mm or so smaller than the full length and width of the screen. Then I carefully glued the piece of plexiglass to the screen, then wrapped the plexiglass/screen in black transparent window tinting film, and inserted the plexiglass piece into the cutout. The plexiglass is flush with the front of the case.

2) Epoxied in place. Breaktru has suggested hot glue and for my next build, I might try that.

Breaktru how is the nano-tech battery treating you?
How does it compare to an 18650?
When available are they only in the china warehouse or are they typically available in US warehouse as well?

I love the nano-techs for RC stuff.

Not bad, in fact pretty dam good. They are 1200mAh, 15C. I have to charge them about 22 hrs after coming off the charger.
I'm happy with them. They have a Low internal impedance of 1.2m ohm compared to that of 3mΩ of a standard Li-poly.
And they aren't much bigger than a 14500 battery. Dimensions: 58mm x 15mm
I calculated that this battery is rated 18 amps. 15C = 1 x 1200mah or 1.200Ah = 1.200 x 15C = 18 amps
