Good Morning Major!

A slow and cooling rain has lowered the temperature here to around 70 degrees (F); what a blessing!

A few quick quotations for you this fine day offered in the hope that they stir some fine thought, some treasured memory, or give you pause to reflect.

"Happy the man whose wish and care a few paternal acres bound,
content to breathe his native air in his own ground."
-Alexander Pope

"HE clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ringed with the azure world, he stands.

The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

-Alfred Lord Tennyson "The Eagle" (a fragment)

Have an energetic, incisive, and eye opening day!

Good Morning Major!

"Mum, look at me!" says Gizmo

He's holding a cornflake in his foot.

"It's a cornflake sweetie- like a small corn chip"

Gizmo takes a thoughtful nibble and moves it around in his beak rolling his tongue over it.

A few big nibbles, the cornflake is gone.

He looks at me, puts his head on one side and looks up at me with his big white-ringed eyes.

"Alright." he says.

Sometimes, the little things speak volumes.

Good Afternoon Major,

I hope you don't mind but I am beginning to really like it here. I hope I don't make a nuisance of myself.

hugs,

When you begin to touch your heart or let your heart be touched,
you begin to discover that it's bottomless, that it doesn't have any resolution,
that this heart is huge, vast, and limitless. You begin to discover how much warmth
and gentleness is there, as well as how much space.

Good Morning Major!

It's another glorious day outside; another glorious day to be alive!

***WARNING Christian Religious Poetry Ahead***

Last night, while surfing the web, and looking for interesting quotations and poerty (which is one of my favorite things to do on-line; that's right I was doing it long before I posted to this thread!:?:) I came across a poem that for some reason seemed to touch me. It also made me think of you, and unfortunately, several other family members, friends, and co-workers. You all are going through trials right now. Almost all of these people are not well. I keep asking myself, "What the heck is going on?" Anyway....I liked this one so much I committed it to memory. It made me wonder if it was a poem, a prayer, or both. Hence the above warning and disclaimer; I don't want to offend anyone.

"When Jesus Christ was four years old
The angels brought Him toys of gold,
Which no man ever had bought or sold.

And yet with these He would not play.
He made Him small fowl out of clay,
And blessed them till they flew away:
Tu creasti Domine
(Translation:Thou hast created them, O Lord.)

Jesus Christ, Thou child so wise,
Bless mine hands and fill mine eyes,
And bring my soul to Paradise."

-Hilaire Belloc "The Birds"

I hope everyone who reads this will receive the blessing of some special grace today but especially you and your family Major.

Good Morning Major!

We do amazing things for those we love. We travel massive distances, tread the cobbles looking for gifts, cook carefully planned meals, write cards, plan surprises, rub backs, dress wounds, raise esteem, instill confidence, tell stupid jokes, laugh at things that aren't funny, walk in the rain, make cups of tea and bring sandwiches.

We do all these things. Each of them quietly speaks the same message of love and patience. Yet they are no substitute for those three little words. Because as often as we can say them to ourselves, they only gain meaning when someone we love says them to us.

Have a good day Major.

Good morning buddy, despite the fact that I haven't been online much at all since I've been in Greece you're always on my mind and thoughts. Yesterday I spent a beautiful time watching the sunset on the beach and I actually thought to myself how nice it would be to be able to share this wonderful sight with all of you. I'll post some more pics tomorrow for you.

Have a wonderful day Major
