****************Footprints in the Sand**********************

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."

Good Morning Major!

I thought another true life story may be appropriate this morning. When I was first returning to work, over 20 years ago, from the 3 surgeries and 20 week protocol of Chemotherapy I still had a job working for a car dealership. The first day I returned to work was pretty rough. One of the older mechanics, a usually stern and unsmiling man, approached me at the end of the day and I was expecting to get chewed out for some reason or another. Here's a recounting of our brief, yet for me exillirating, conversation:
Old Mechanic: "Hey boy! Is see you got back in one piece and are returning to work.
Me: "Yes sir."
Old Mechanic: "Do you know why you've come through and are recovering?"
Me: "Not exactly but I believe it is because of the prayers of others."
(I'll never forget the steely look in his eyes, and hardened looking expression on his face when he said,
"That coud be.....but I thought it was because your tough!"

That really gave me shot in the arm! I hope that energy will come to you today and that as you fight the good fight that your opponent will first stutter, then weaken, then fail!

This is my favorite poem? of all time. It's seen me through many hard times. Thanks for posting it.

And good morning brother Steve. Hope everything is going great for you.

Good Morning Major!

Another day where the hours have passed too fast. I'm up to my neck in Cicero's letters and just didn't notice the time. He was an interesting and eloquent man. What an amazing life and in such ground shaking times. Imagine knowing Julius Caesar, Brutus, Cassius, Pompey, Cato and outliving them all. Marcus Antonius however, outlived him and Octavian (Augustus Caesar) outlived them both.

It's been cold. Maybe the warm sun came to you today.

:)

good morning Major!

I said a Prayer for you today

I said a prayer for you today
to make your spirits soar,

I prayed for happiness for you,
but then I asked for more.

I asked that God would give you
the courage that you need
to be yourself, to do your best,
to dream and to succeed.

I prayed that God would bless you
with confidence in who you are.

Good Morning Major!

I really am concerned not to hear from you for so long. Your posts are the reassurance that those who love you need to know you are still with us. My deepest apologies but it appears that our friend Cicero has invaded my prose but when it comes to the placement of words, few have been his equal.

The other thing about Cicero is that he was very brave with his words, even he said perhaps he was foolish but when he returned from his exile, crowds came out on the streets of Italy and Rome itself to applaud him. The other thing is how he looked his end in the face. It is said that when Antonius' assassin came, he calmly stretched out his neck for the blow. A man of great courage and that is all we can be, courageous.

If we can all have courage like Cicero, then we are all Cicero.

This is the best dramatisation I have seen of him yet and yes the base humour and violence is in keeping with the known nature of the people. Wilting flowers (or keen indoor gardeners!) should not press play.

Let us all be brave in all we do. No matter what.

My apologies for not being online for several days but I had to be rushed to a local hospital after midnight on Thursday US time and was only just released a couple of hours ago. Not my idea of a fun weekend but please be assured I would never play games by simply not responding to this beautiful thread.

I have to go in enough the last few months that the paramedics search me for my smartphone and take it away. The last time my wife tried to sneak it in for me, she was given a warning that she would be barred from any visitation rights if she was caught doing so again. :(

Again, my apologies but but it was not deliberate. I can think of a lot better ways to spend a few thousand US Dollars than wasting it in a hospital. I am thinking that for future reference, if Capt.Steve or dspin or someone like that would PM me a contact number, at least my wife can let someone know I am alive or not. Besides, life won again this weekend! That makes it life 1, death zero! :)

And I plan to keep running up the score against the other team! I must admit though that it also really upset me to miss out on a chance to pre-order one of the pieces I have searched for for almost a year. The Brass Rev-1 GGTS 4-in-1 top cap. Any of these guys can tell you, if I had known I was missing out on that, I would have mugged a doctor to get his smartphone!

Thanks again and here's to everyone having a safe and blessed week ahead! :)

Steve
