What can I say Bishopheals and Capt. Steve? Extremely well thought out and excellent presentation of your wonderful idea....you even talked this old byrd into posting a pic....that in itself is almost impossible. I hope that many others will quote you in their posts and still post to this thread. I am drawn to this thread to post not as a matter of habit but as a matter of trying to help a brother.

Good Morning Major! Good Morning Mrs. Major!

Continue the good fight Major! We're all pulling for you; we're all in your corner. I can't actually speak for everyone else...or maybe I can...we're not going away from our rally under your banner.

"The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him."

Goooood Morning Major! Goooood Morning Mrs. Major!

Another fine morning, here, in Middle Georgia. Hopefully, I will have some surprising, and interesting news to post, sometime next week. I don't want to spill the beans so....I guess you'll just have to wait around if you want to know what it is!:)

I hope that you are past your second surgery and able to eat and that all bodily functions are good. I've been there; I wish for you, today, good sleep, a voracious appetite, and soothing spiritual balms that will ease the body and please the soul.

This morning a quotation about human nature and the value of constancy.

"So when at times the mob is swayed
to carry praise or blame too far....
Choose something like a star.
and be staid."
-Oh Star (the fairest one in sight) Robert Frost

Good Morning Major and Mrs. Major

Just dropped by to say hello and wish you well and let you know that I am keeping you in my thoughts and in my heart. I know your surgery has to be finished by now and I wanted you to know that we are all pulling for you. Get well, Major. I know it is hard, but just get well. :)

hugs to you both,

Morri

Good Morning Major! Good Morning Mrs. Major!

I hope that your recovery path is less steep and free of obstacles today. Work has been crazy lately, hence, my spotty posting. I'm half way through my 50+hour week.

I guess today's quotation, even if you don't like the politics of the person quoted, adress this and some other concepts.

"Everything I did in my life that was worthwhile I caught hell for."

Good Morning Major! Good Morning Mrs. Major!

I have surprising and interesting news (what a surprise, huh?:)) to report to you and all other fellow posters to this thread. I hope to post a picture, some time later today or tomorrow. Ever since I first contributed to this thread I have been intrigued by the GG. What a great community! Here I am not even a GG owner and I am welcomed with hospitality and sincere warmth.

So, I am extremely pleased to announce, that this day, I have only just opened a package I received in the mail. I have been saving coins, dollars, fives, tens, whatever I could lay my hands on for months now. Thanks to the ECF classifieds and I am now the happy owner of a SSGGTS #3163!

New and inexperienced I am off to set up my new acquisition and give it a try.

Please accept my journey of slow savings, my watching and waiting, my realization that a new SSGGTS was many months away, my resolve to be a GG owner, my success on the classified ads, and the fruition of this process as a salute to you Major. I also must salute and recognize imeothanasis. So.....now I am officially a SSGGTS owner!

God bless you major and may each day see you slowly gain the strength, that by necessity, you need and deserve. May you and your wife take some small comfort knowing that there is a new addition to SSGGTS owners today.

"All places that the eye of heaven visits
Are to a wise man ports and happy havens.
Teach thy necessity to reason thus;
There is no virtue like necessity."

-William Shakespeare Richard II, Act 1. Scene 3

Hello to all! I have been unable to post til now and I apologize but have been fighting the good fight with the love and support of this community. I refuse to focus on the negative aspects as this is not only counter-productive to ones own health but is also at disagreement with what God's word says about breathing live into a negative by dwelling on it.

This is the season when we all celebrate the birth of Jesus and whether we call it Christmas or whatever, it is the one time a year when people seem to be a little kinder to others and a bit more forgiving, I know it is true of me. So whatever you call it, allow this special time of the year to bring you joy and happiness for no matter what your current state you find yourself, there are always thousands (millions?) more who have it harder than we do. I know I have to remind myself of that a lot. ;)

I am amazed at the life this thread has shown but that is a testament to the level of love and care for each other that is truly and sadly too rare these days. I feel I have come to know some of you personally and can say without hesitation, that I say that with thankfulness in my heart. Yes, we do have a choice in life - As long as we breathe, we have a choice to choose to call it a good day by dwelling on the positives. Or we can choose to allow ourselves to become so mired in the mud of life that we hardly see anything else.

So yes, I choose not only life but thankfulness. And I will do so as long as God allows me to be alive! I refuse to accept an early out just because it may seem like the easy way. Life was not designed to be easy but as I have found out personally, it is not until the true testing times of life occur do we find whether our faith is real or just words.

In the Christian Bible, NIV, Hebrews chapter 11 verse 1 says it all very well to my thinking: "Now faith is the assurance that what we hope for will come about and the certainty that what we cannot see exists."

My ability and access to you wonderful friends is limited for now due to health and location but be assured, you are all in my hearts and prayers. I can say without hesitation or care what anyone else thinks that for the love and care you have shown, how can I not love you back?

Have a blessed and joyful Christmas Season! And as per my quoted definition of faith is above, I will say I have faith I will be back on again sooner rather than later! :)

Good Morning Major! Good Morning Mrs. Major!

Major you have graced us with a most wonderful and energizing post this morning. We are so blessed this morning and every morning we are given.

I can only imagine what kind of good morning the humble, hard working people, in today's quotation must have had...

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. "

The New Testament of the Holy Bible. Luke Chapter 2

Indeed Major, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." But the part I like best is simple, succinct, to the point, and oh so very enlightening: "Fear not..."
