I found a recipe that I've been really enjoying of the past few weeks. I've been thinking of mixing up a 3 month supply of it (around a litre) just to have it all done and out of the way.

Is there anything I should be aware of in terms of preserving the quality of a batch this size?

I was planning on storing the bulk of it in an amber glass bottle, and filling a few 30ml unicorns from it on a weekly basis.

Is it possible a batch this size could degrade in any way over the span of a few months? I'm assuming that most of the premium juices I've bought in the past were sitting for quite a while, so I'm guessing no, but I'm not certain. I don't want to jump the gun and end up having to toss 1/2 the batch due to some factor I overlooked.

Also, I'm assuming that with the flavorings I'm using the flavor profile wouldn't change drastically beyond the 2 week steep I've already tested it at?

I'm using:
(FA) Tanger Mandarin 3%
(FA) Orange 1%
(FA) Cream Fresh 1%
(FA) Vienna Cream 2%
(TFA) Vanilla Swirl 3%
(FW) Vanilla Bean Ice Cream 2%

Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

My guess is there may be subtle change - but it's as likely to get better as it is to degrade.
My experience with Vanillas is that they NEED some time - they're often alcohol based and I can't stand them til that fades...

I usually mix about a month's worth of my everyday flavor - and mix it at least 2-3 weeks before I need it, and there's no change noticeable beyond that 2-3 week period, during which it dramatically darkens and "smooths out".

If you DO steep, you'll want to account for a bit longer steep in a larger bottle.
For instance, if you're storing 500 mls in a giant bottle, it's not going to steep as quickly as a dozen 30 ml bottles would. Possibly a matter of surface area...I'm not sure.

What's that flavor - Creamsicle?

1 liter seems like an awful lot for one person to vape in 3 months that is unless I'm misunderstanding and your actually making it for several people. But my usual recommendation is to make no more then a 3 month supply at a time if your worried about flavor changes.

Also as train2 said steeping is more efficient in smaller bottles then larger bottles.

Orange Creamsicle it is. :)
I found it on DIYorDIE a while back.

I hadn't considered the longer steep time for a larger bottle. Duly noted!
This recipe knocked my socks off without any steeping. It's really a soft/delicate vape compared to the premium juices I'm accustomed to, which I'm assuming were plastered with sweetener. After a couple weeks of steeping I did notice some subtle difference. I can't honestly say it made it better or worse; I like it just the same. It's funny you mention vanilla, though. I don't think either of these vanilla's are alcohol based (it's not listed on the labels anyway) and I'm not picking up that scent at all, but it did seem like the vanilla sort of popped a bit more after just a few days, possibly taking a bit of the spot light from the orange, but overall the flavors seem to be playing nice with each other. :)

Thanks for the info!

I typically go through 10ml per day. Unless I'm having a senior moment I think that puts me at about 900ml over 3 months.

@dannyv45 Thanks for the tip, sir! Always appreciate your input. :)

@SteveS45 That thought did cross my mind. Valid point. I can't be sure how long this love affair will last. Might just be overly excited that I finally mixed something that I'm really enjoying, and that doesn't taste like flat Cream Soda (that was my last result experimenting with caramel...not sure how I got there, but it was horrendous).

Darrell, there are so many flavors, possibilities, etc. In my case, it is a no-no to make a 3 month supply of a certain recipe, but it's me because I am used to alternate daily among 3-4 different eliquids, since I grow bored pretty quick of the same flavor for more supreme it could seem to be at some point. My advice would be to make only a month supply if you have to, then repeat if you still find it like the only vape you ever need.

I hear ya. Thanks for the perspective.
I might decide to scale things back a bit once the euphoria wanes.
Regardless, it's good to know how to best handle the larger batches. :thumb:

I always make 1000 MLs of my ADV at a time, in one bottle. They sit for at least 3 weeks, getting shaken up whenever I remember. I then just transfer it to a 60 ML bottle that I carry around with me. Never had an issue with degradation or flavor change.

8% orange cream
5% strawberry
3% pineapple

I'm eager to experiment with more fruit and creams. Gonna give that one a whirl when I make my next order. Thanks. :thumb:

Pick up some Koolada. I like to add it at 1% and less and it adds some "coolness" to the vape. It's hard to explain the feeling. Lol

My largest size mixing bottle is a 500ml. It will last me a little over a month. I try to make each about a month before I need to use them, so when I finish the juice it is a little over 2 months after mixing when it is used. I don't notice any degrading of the juice. I buy all my supplies for my ADV(Kreeds Kustard)at HV(premium nic and Cap flavors mixed max VG) and immediately decant upon delivery and store in my chest freezer until usage.

I have mixed 250ml single stand alone flavors that I vape everyday and keep them in the fridge. I use a 30ml bottle to fill my tanks with that I keep in my tool box that sits on the counter by the fridge. The ones I have now are
Skittles
Juicy fruit
Bubblegum
Spearmint
Blueberry Raz Slush
Sweet tea
I have others in my rotation daily also but those are in 120ml also in the fridge and in 30ml bottles in the toolbox.
Never have had any flavor loss.
If I really find a mix I like and can vape everyday, after all testing is done and I have vaped through almost all of my testing then I mix a 120ml bottle. Then if all that goes well, ie. no flavor change or funny tastes then when I am ready to mix it again I mix the larger 250 ml bottles.
:)

Im glad I saw that recipe before placing my order! My supplier is on the other side of the country(best prices and selection in Canada), and it takes 2 weeks to get here. I am definitely including some Orange Cream in my next shipment! That sounds awesome!

Any chance you tried it with straight Orange and Strawberries and cream instead?
