Hello, I am new to this forum. I have to say I am overwhelmed with all the information available here. You guys seem to really know your stuff. I just hope I can figure this whole thing out. I consider myself an intelligent individual but right now I feel like I got myself in over my head.

Decided to make the switch and get off the Marlboros, analogs you call them? Anyways went to my local smokeshop which after coming here I discovered was mistake number 1. The nice guy did set me up with a refillable pen that seemed to have good reviews. It is a Vapor-X XLT. Anyone have experience with this unit?

Before I bought this refillable I had bought a L.A. vape disposable in "Victory Berry" flavor and it was amazing (though they don't last long the taste is top notch!). Upon buying my new pen I filled it with a VODA Vapor liquid and it is unbearable! It tastes so chemically!! Is this common with bad brands? Is there anything anybody can recommend that is comparable to the L.A. vape disposable? Thanks for any help guys. I really want to get away from the Marlboro man. We have been friends for long enough...

Finding a flavor you like is usually a search; when I started also, I found better flavor on the disposables than what was sold with the starter kit.

Welcome to the forum and good luck in the transition. It is a a process and it may take a little time to find the right juice that you like. It sounds like some of the berry or sweet flavors is what you like. I'm currently on a caramel kick and I like Salty Caramel from Mount Baker Vapor and Jon Wayne from Uncle Junk's Genius Juice. There are tons of flavors to sample and lots that are good and others that end up in the garbage.

Don't pressure yourself into the switch and the mentality of "quitting smoking". Enjoy the vaping, try the flavors and let the migration occur. I for one am still smoking but vaping much much more than I smoke and my smoking is decreasing everyday and it's getting easier and easier. I think of it as a migration process. I'm not going to put timelines on myself as that mentality is what causes us to fail quitting smoking.

So in essence, relax, vape, experiment and have fun. You will try lots of juices before you find the "one" that you like.

Try here for shops near you. A lot of them will have sample bars where you can try the juice before you buy it. Electric Cigarette|Eliquid|Supplies|Electronic Cigarette|Ejuice|Smokeless|Vapor Search USA. Just press on your state and check it out. Good luck & VAPE ON:vapor:

welcome to the ECF

Trust us, there are some really, really good eliquid makers out there

here are a few of the favorites - they do range on price

NicQuid excellent assortment of fruit flavors

5 Pawns very smooth high end eliquid

Mt Baker Vapor - huge selection - mixed to order so some steeping may be necessary (steeping = letting the eliquid sit for several days to a week after delivery to let the flavors blend and smooth out - shaking several times per day helps)

good luck on your search

Welcome!! About 2 months ago I was in the exact same boat as you- wanted to stop smoking and start vaping but was completely overwhelmed with all the lingo- voltage, watts, ohms, bottom coils, top coils, tanks, cartos, attys dripping AHHHH!!!! Take you time... read as many beginner and intro things as you can, watch some videos on YouTube and you will quickly figure it out, its far less complicated than it first appears...

I quit a 24 year 2 pack a day smoking habit a week after I started vaping... the only down side- I spent a few pennies on some equipment that I very quickly found was subpar. In my short experience the biggest factor in successfully getting off the smokes and into vaping completely is having quality equipment and quality juice- that doesnt have to mean expensive though. It does mean that you have to buy from a vape store or online- not the junk they sell in most cigar shops or drug stores... I will post a video below I found very helpful when I started.

Finally a quick equipment suggestion- get an eGo C Twist battery and a mini Pro Tank 2, both about $20 each and a good juice... if you like the fruity/sweet flavors (as I do) Heathers Heavenly Vapes is tops in my book, check them out...

Biggest thing- keep at it... if I can quit, anyone can- trust me.

Thanks for the quick replys everyone. I really appreciate it. I will probably head to a vapor store this weekend to try some samples. I will probably want to stick to B&M locations for convenience.

I keep hearing people talking about "steeping" the liquids. What exactly does this entail? Thanks for clarifying for a noob!

It just means letting the juice sit for a while after its made- it allows the flavor to develop by the ingredients mixing completely... set it somewhere dark and shake it a couple times a day- takes anywhere from a week to several weeks but is not always necessary.

Steeping is when a new batch of eliquid is mixed together it may need some time - days or weeks - in order to age and blend properly together.

Congrats on making the first step to get off the analogs. I quit them about 4 weeks ago and love it.... We get all of our liquids from the local B&M locations because we can taste however many we want. I would ask them if their flavors require steeping or if they steep them prior to selling them. When I asked my favorite store in town they said that their juices are steeped before they sell them, but I will say that they have improved over time since i bought some of them. Mainly the peach because it is a lighter flavor to begin with. I would think in the Phoenix area there would be many options out there so check other B&Ms and their flavors/juices. You may find that it is their base that you don't care for.

Thanks for the kind words. I will try not to force the issue. I was surprised how enjoyable I found the disposable I tried to be even without any nicotine! I was discouraged when I finally purchased a refillable with liquid but I will persist on! I may have just gotten unlucky on my first try.

Ok that's what I was thinking. Seems kind of inconvenient. Hopefully my local B&M juice does not require this. I am going to venture out this weekend to see what I can find!

Definitely try to get some sample packs so you don't break the bank buying 15ml or larger bottles all the time. There's so many places out there and everyone has their own mix it might take you a bit to find that one you like. But then once you find that one keep trying others often times you'll start going into a rotation of what you like, one week it might be coffee flavor the other it might be a fruit flavor flavor. Basically you want to keep an open mind about the flavors and remember that everyone has different tastes, just because someone doesn't like a flavor doesn't mean you wont like it.

I bought an eGo with a Kanger EVOD and I absolutely loved it. It hit like the real thing and produced enough Vape to satisfy the throat and eyes. I started with 24mg/ml juice and haven't looked back. I dropped the analogs (minus the 3 I had left on me...I wasn't going to throw those expensive .......s away..no way) and now you couldn't make me smoke one with a gun. I feel I am better for it and don't want to go back at all. Keep after it and it will all come in time. You have to be ready to quit in your mind before anything will really work. Just take that step and you will be able to enjoy much more than Vaping. :headbang:
