The PG tends to dry you out- dont be scared- it sounds worse than it is... but a higher PG mix will dry your mouth and lips some- drinking water helps resolve this... it comes down to finding the balance that works for you... the higher the VG, the less dry issues you will have but also the thicker and less sweet the juice will be.

For me, my first experience with an ecig was Blu... when I used them I would get a very heavy feeling in my chest, almost like someone was sitting on it... come to find out that Blu uses 100% VG juice. I have since gone to custom liquids from HHV at 15mg and 70:30, I find the 70:30 to be nearly perfect- great flavor, no heavy chest...

I can testify to that to; not concerning Blu but concerning 100%VG (straight glycerin from the Pharmacy); I tried vaping that for a SHORT while; and yup "a very heavy feeling in my chest" is exactly what I found.

Call me naïve but I thought the juice was essentially water.

It is not water; it is mostly glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG).
Both as used in foodstuff.

What you exhale is supposed to be mostly water.

I think there is another thing: PEG400 found in some eliquids.

All of this talk of dryness and heavy chest is concerning. I figured that I was switching to Vapor to feel healthy? I don't really like the gunk throat feeling or heavy chest. Now that I think about it the VODA Vapor I bought (but don't use) does both those things and it sucks.

Let me be clear- I do not believe vaping to be any more harmful to you than drinking coffee- both provide a stimulant which, normally, your body would not need... if doing the HEALTHIEST thing is your concern then you should quit smoking period. No smoking, no vaping.

That said, while too much PG can dry you out, too much VG (for some people) can cause a heavy chest feeling, neither comes REMOTELY close to the damage done by smoking... if the idea of PG or VG gives you pause about starting vaping it shouldn't... I, and every other former smoker on here, can attest to the HUGE positive health experience moving from smoking to vaping.

Obviously the healthiest option would be no smoking, no vapor, no coffee. Let's be real. Nobody is giving up coffee.

I just want to be able to breathe again. If it takes replacing an evil with a much lessor evil than I am fine with that. I am not trying to live a life ala Jack LaLane.

If being able to breathe is your goal, vaping is the pathway... 2 months ago I could barely run a city block without being VERY winded... today I can run a couple miles. Plus, I don't stink, dont have to constantly go outside to smoke, have a slowly returning sense of taste, can actually smell things (sometimes not a positive ), am spending a fraction of the amount of money I used to (though the first 6 weeks or so that wasnt the case as I experimented with equipment), and am far less woried that I might not see my kids grow up.

Vaping has been a god-send... 24 years I tried quitting- cold turkey, Welbutrin, Chantix, patches, gums, lozenges, licorice, you name it and I tried it. Nothing worked for more than a couple weeks... till I started vaping. 2 months on Sunday without a smoke and the urge to have one is just about gone- it pops into my mind a couple times a day but lasts a couple minutes and thats it.

Give vaping a chance, you- and those around you- will be glad you did.

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I am apprehensive at the moment to say the least. I am confident though that once I get settled in to everything I will be able to enjoy all the things you mention. I expected to be able to buy a pen and some liquid and have unlimited enjoyment. My first liquid almost made me give up. It was horrible! Thanks to the encouragement I am getting I will try some more liquids before I concede.

I usually advise new vapers to look out for a good pyrex tank such as the mini Protank 2.
A couple cheap plastic tanks is ok to try with but once you decide you want to vape in the long run instead of smoking, there's no real reason to vape cheap plastic that might be leeching into your eliquids.

The unit I have is a Vapor-X XLT it has a glass tank for holding the liquid. Is this not sufficient?

I'm pretty sure that's a standard CE4 disposable tank; there are more than 10 maybe a hundred differently branded CE4 type systems;

maybe I'm wrong; can you open it up to replace the heating coil? The CE4's can't replace the heads and are disposable plastic.

This is over my head. I will check the owners manual to see if the heating coil is replaceable. Other than that your lingo is to much for me. :/

Yeah, no mention in the manual of anything in regards to changing the coil. I took another look at it and the cartomizer May intact be a thick plastic not glass.

I am trying to understand what is in my kit. It appears from the website that my kit includes...

Lithium Ion battery 650 mAh 601 thread
clear tank cartomizer (made of thick plastic?)

Does this mean that to switch out the cartomizer I would look for one with a 601 thread and it will fit? Am I understanding that right? Would the mini Protank 2 be compatible with my battery?

when I first quit I bought a kanger EVOD duel kit it had everything I needed and 2 so I had a back up it was $40 at local shop its a good starter rig I got tobacco flavored juice at 24mg and haven't smoked since

Wow...looks like I got ripped off. My rig was more expensive and came with not even close to that amount of equipment. :/

it also came with 5 replacement heads which is included w/kit and free 12ml juice it was a good deal I got lucky
but kranger is good starting equipment

Ugh... Guess they saw the sucker coming when they saw me. Lol. I hope this POS I bought is SUFFICIENT for a while at least. I would hate to flush the $100 down the drain. With so many different interchangeable parts constantly needing to be replaced, I am starting to get worried that I am going to be spending more vaping than I was with analogs and money was part of the motivation to transition.

I mean is it really necessary to have 2 batteries, several tanks, different heads, coil replacements ect ect ect? I have a battery and a tank. That's it. What do I need to buy to complete my setup?
