Chi w/ trident clone vs REOgrand w/ RM2
I
Setups
So I got home and found a Brass/Stainless Trident I ordered from slowtech over a month ago to match up w/ my badly needing a polish because I haven't used her since getting my first REO Brass Chi.
I quickly did a dual micro .4Ω 26 gauge kanthal setup on both the RM2 and Trident.
Both the REO and Chi are using a Sony 30amp 18650
The RM2 has a single 1/16th air hole
The trident is running w/ both air holes open.
II
Test Fires
Corrected issue w/ my setup on REO re-fired and wow!
III
Observations/considerations
The chi is fully noalox'd all thead's including button setup.
The REO is running fully stock w/ a touch of noalox on the firing pin.
The Chi hits immediate w/ minimal voltage drop.
The REO has a much longer heat up time w/ voltage drop evident.
^corrected issue w/ REO new test fire to show, Voltage drop minimal vape production there.
As observed in above photos the Trident puts off more thick vapor on initial post cotton soak test fire immediate and even burnt my hand a bit w/ blisteringly hot juice shooting from it. The shot was taken immediate b/c the juice hurt.
The REO took some time to ramp up. @ .4Ω's I knew i'd be pushing it but knew I had extra springs if I dropped the spring. I wanted a control group both running .4Ω's. I waited about 4 seconds then took the test fire shot on the REO.
REO issue was my issue corrected and it's vaping stronger than Chi w/ Trident. Yes it is

Vapor quality/taste/what really matters
They are both EXCELLENT. It's important to understand the REO is not designed to just be a ungoverned non street legal mod such as the Chi. In fact the Chi required me to make a small O ring b/c of certain batteries auto firing just from screwing it together b/c of the negative side making contact. The Chi has no safety mechanism stock. You adjust a telescopic firing pin till the battery doesn't shake in the tube and go.
The Chi's firing button has too short of a throw. It works well but almost non existent throw. Just unscrew the lock ring and squeeze your pinky on the bottom button and it goes.
The REO is built with a good amount of though in mind. You squonk and get reliable predictable vapes all day. The squonking makes it the perfect every day on the go analog replacement w/ excellent quality.
As far as taste goes from them.
The Chi/Trident w/ both holes open produces good vapor. The RM2 produces a good amount which appears more dense. After correcting issues it vapes and produces more dense vapor w/ more flavor than Trident/Chi.[/b[
As far as taste goes. They both have good taste. I'd have to edge towards the RM2 in terms of actual taste quality.
The smaller air chamber of the RM2 along w/ the single 1/16th air hole cause this in my opinion.
Response time from firing goes to the Chi/Trident.
Mod'ing the REO to reduce voltage drop would remove the delay but at the expense of safety. I'm happy w/ it where its at as a good solid all day vape.
Overall Winner for practicality ease of use all day everyday use:REO w/ RM2
Winner of vape producing contests voltage drop powerhouse vaping: Chi w/ Trident After correcting issues REO is on par if not better.
V
Conclusions
If I'm going to a vape meet and feel like screwing around blowing crazy clouds I'd use the Chi/Trident. If I felt like blinging out the freshly polished chi w/ the gold/SS trident looks very sharp. If I'm looking for immediate kill you borderline crazy vapor production the trident/chi win.
Other than that the REO is the best overall in terms of vapor quality, taste, ease of use, and taste are with the REO.
Anyone who says otherwise simply has different taste buds than me. If the Chi/Trident were better I'd say. I'd use my REO anyways because at the basic level of it the Chi/Trident don't solve my needs of being an effective bottom feeder with a very pocket friendly form factor.
