I've decided that after trying the Blu brand ecigs, i like the cartomizer (i don't want the hassle of refilling) and i like being able to recharge on the go and i love the size. however due to being on the road and in noisy environments often i think that is killing my automatic batt Blu so i want a manual. i keep trying to research what kind i really want to go for, but i keep finding conflicting information.

the Joye 510 for example... one place says you can use cartomizers with it, but other places lead me to believe it is only for use with liquid where you refill it yourself. does anyone know for sure about this?

i am trying to quit analogs and want to quit all together hopefully by january (since my work is going tobacco AND e-cig free). i have tried every other method of quitting imaginable and after trying the Blu i think the ecig in general may work for me if i can find one i am compatible with that i can eventually taper down to 0mg nicotine levels.

thanks for any info! :)

V, while some exist, there are not a lot of pre-filled cartomizers for the 510 systems...most are blanks which are meant to be refilled with your favorite liquid...if you want to stick with Blu and prefilled cartos, you are fairly well stuck with paying Blu's inflated prices...if you are determined to stick with Blu, you can get the blanks and fill them MUCH cheaper...if you just gotta have prefilled cartos, a much better choice would be to goto a KR-808 system such at the offerings from vapor4life.com, bloogplanet.com or smokelessimage.com...these are slimline units, far superior to the Blu and these vendors have a large selection of prefilled cartos...FYI, you will find that Blu, while used by many as a start into vaping is not well thought of around here................

...this is just my take on prefilled...with prefilled, you don't know who filled it, what they actually filled it with, how much juice they filled it with or how long it may have been sitting on the back shelf of a wharehouse somewhere...in other words, just way too many unknowns for my comfort...conversely, when you fill them yourself, you know exactly who filled it, what they filled it with and how long it's been sitting...filling yourself is not hard, just squeezing drops out of a bottle...the only hard thing is deciding which juice you wanna use...as always, these choices are yours to make and YMMV..........

p.s. it's not that we HATE Blus, it just that we know there is so much better out there...Blu has a following and if it got you off the funkies, then that is a good thing!!!!!!..........mj

Apollo is not compatible with anything.

If you want prefilled cartomizers I recommend KR808D-1 manuals

SmokelessImage
Bloogplanet
Halocigs G6

These 3 are the same - the new style KR808D-1 threaded models. The manuals have a totally sealed threaded end. The button is tiny and partially recessed. the safety cutoff seems to be 5 seconds (a bit short for a manual where you would like to activate it 1-2 seconds before starting your drag). These have extended charge life - they are 3.6v regulated and each battery size has about 40mah longer charge vs the standard/Vapor4Life KR808D-1. The Bloogplanet and SI cartos are very nice bottom coil, give a big easy drag, not as hot as the Vapor4Life ones but a nicer drag. Also seem more resistant to leaking.

Vapor4Life.com

These are a custom version of the normal manufacturer model, adding a 10 second cutoff so you can take a longer drag. They are 3.7v unregulated so they are 3.9-4.2v straight off the charger, have a plateau of 3.7v then drop at the end of charge. The manuals have an open hole in the end but it looks sealed inside. The button is more normal sized. The amount of charge is standard (180mah for the small ones, 280mah for the standard, plus an xl very long size). The WOW cartos are very hot and give nicotine extra hit (I use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a cool mouthpiece). The Coolcarts are not as hot. Tighter stuffing and drag vs the Bloog/SI ones but sharper edged hit.

I use batteries of both kinds, cartos from both. They can use each other's cartos as well as any 2.5 to 3 ohm KR808D-1 threaded 3rd party cartos (reservoir cartos, clear CE3 cartos, etc). You can put a DSE901 atomizer and drip tip on the manuals to test juices. There are adapters available to use other models of atomizer like 510.

Here's a 2-piece 510 kit that comes with cartomizers. I recommend it because it's $27 for the kit, has a 12 second shutoff and no mic to drain the battery. The pre-filled cartomizers come in USA Mix and Desert Ship only (tobacco flavors). You can get the cartomizers blank and fill yourself. This is a great kit for a noob that insists they need one that looks like a cigarette, tastes like a tobacco cig and don't want to mess with juice. Screw on a carto and vape. Easy peasy. 510 manual cartomizer kit from smok tech

A manual is actually what I'd like to try. It's not so much that I want it to Look like a real cig... just the feel of it if that makes sense. I know I'm addicted to the nicotine, but I also have had the habit for so long that the feel of something similar is beneficial for me. I discovered this fact when at one point I tried to quit and ended up chewing up every ink pen i got a hold of rofl :) I think I've decided to try the Joye 510 manual. Just for the sake of trying it, I think I'll get a small bottle of the liquid as well since it appears that the 510 can be used either with prefilled or empty ones you can fill yourself.

Though I am still a little afraid of filling them myself. I keep reading how dangerous it is and that if you get the stuff on your skin to wash immediately... and I'd also read somewhere that you can't overdose on the nic with prefilled but you can easily overdose if you fill them wrong. But I'll try and pray :)

Check this thread for soome sites that sell 510 prefilled cartos (undoubtedly more sell them, as it's 3 months old): http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/pay-forward-pif/202315-help-510-stuff-please.html

If you like prefilled, I'd stay with standard KR808D-1 (vapor4life) or the new gen 808D-1 Volt or Bloog.

A standard 510 is kind of beat for run time, at 180 mAh, and cannot handle lower ohm cartos very well. A standard 808 is 280 mAh (same mAh as a 510 XL/mega), while an XL or mega 808 is 380 mAh.

If you go to a big battery 510, like the nicely priced Riva 510 lite kit from liberty flights, you can use lower resistance cartomizers (more warmth), though I don't know how readily available pre-filled 2 ohm or thereabouts 510 cartos are.

I personally really prefer the 808 connector, and that they are 3.7V or so across the board. A dirty little secret about Riva 510 and cartos, in my case after a fairly short time I had to pry up the center contact on the battery, frequently, when changing cartos or recharging the battery, in order to get contact. I used at least 6 Riva batteries over several months, both real Riva and Riva clones, and they all exhibited this tendency. It's easy to do, but can get old quickly.

Manual vs. auto battery is an "eh" to me. I've had 808 auto batteries and passthroughs that lasted months, others died fairly fast, same as with the manuals. You'll generally get an easier draw with a manual, and with an auto you do have to not just pour liquid down the opening, but it isn't rocket science. There are definitely times when an auto really shines, when you don't have a spare hand to play with the button.
