Good Luck, its tough to do even when your replacing smoking with vaping. But if your kicking cigarettes just remember the money youll be saving from switching over. Spend around $60 (less than a carton cigs here) on a good kit to get ya on your way. I was halfway through a carton one day and I said this is just stupid to be spending over $200 a month for my to light on fire and cough and hack every morning. I put it in my brain once that carton was finished, I was done smoking. The night before I ran out of cigs I went to a local vapor shop and got an ego kit and havent looked back. First 2.5 weeks were tough but painless compared to going cold turkey which I have tried before. You can get through it and after the first 5 days your cravings should have dramatically calmed down. Good luck to you.

I am only 5 days into vaping from smoking a pack a day for over 17 years, more than that if I am out for the evening. People, close friends and not so close have told me many times to stop or cut down because I was ridiculous. My first and my last thought during the day were about cigarettes. I joked that they are my best friend. I rarey ended up without a lighter or 2 packs around my pockets simultaneously just in case I ran out. I was embarassed to buy cigarettes in my local shop so often. I could stay hungry, thirsty, not buying anything, etc..as long as I had money for my daily dose of smokes. I would even light a cigarette when I saw one of those vivid ads on the TV how cigarettes kill... and anything less than a pack a day and I got anxiety and was literally having panic attacks and getting out of my skin, crying, etc...so you get the idea how bad a smoker I was/am.

Anyway, I was browsing for something else the other day and an online ad for e-cig got me interested. I actually had a super cheap kit that I had bought over a year ago while I was on holiday in Thailand but never ever tried so I immediately charged it to try. It was horrible...nothing compared to cigarettes so i was highly discouraged. Then my partner suggested that maybe there's better ones out there. I had nothing better to do for the evening so I decided to reasearch. In the end I invested in the cheaper Ego-T starter kits not very much excited that it would be too much better but I thought it was worth the try after reading so much about success storys with e-cigs
Well, well, the same day I got it was the moment I stopped smoking analogs and I haven't had one bit of cravings for cigarettes, honestly...What I learned from my initial research and highly limited experience is what everyone says here, which is get a liquid type of kit, not prefilled cartridges. I highly recommend the Joytech Ego-T versions, depending on the finances you got, get the best you can afford from Ego-T, Ego-C twist, etc... The PG predominantly juices have more of a throat hit from what I read which is what I love in cigarettes so I settled on a normal PG juice with tobaco flavour(Dekang Gold & Silver B&H). I got the highest 26mg juice as I was afraid less would give me cravings. I also got one of the flavoured juices to try. I wasn't super enthusiastic as I like the bad cigarette smell in normal analogs believe it or not, so I randomly picked the stuff that sounded to me personally the least repelling which is the Halo Belgian Cocoa E-Liquid. The Joytech Ego-T kit came with an Ego-T standard and Ego-T low B type(cyllinder shape) resistance automizers. The standard was ok but it leaked and juice was coming into my mouth and also into the automizer. I don't know if it's faulty or not, I put it aside and then tried the second low resistance automizer the kit came with. That totally did it for me as far as throat hit and amount of vapor is concerned.....I was out of speach it was so nice....I had mixed up the two juices for the second try in proportion 70/30 tobacco/cocoa flavour and this is the best smoke....sory vapor I've ever had in my life :) It is so nice that at the moment I am not even interested in buying any new e-cig upgrades or any new juices....My partner, who also got the same kit but different e-liquid, ended up with the low resistance automizer, although his standard didn't leak and the moment he tried my juice he got hooked on it too... Both of us have been totally analog free happy vaper bunnies for the last 5 days and I never intend to go back, it was such an easy transition...

When I read around here that people are finding it hard to stick to e-cig, all I can think of is that they either have a very bad kit to start with, bad or not a good choice of automizer, don't have the right juice, or don't know how to vape. I love having very slow, rather longer than with normal analogs drags out of it, and it made my head hit the sofa the first few times I got it right because the throat hit is better than my super high nicotine analogs I used to smoke.

Stick with it, shop around for a better e-cig kit, don't overlook the automizer too, makes that little bit of a difference that can put you off or hook you on. Get the right amount of nicotine juice content and the flavour you think you like. If you are a heavy smoker start high and then lower if you like gradually, and you will be surprised.

I've tried this a couple times before with ecigs, didn't do my research and bought mini's and 510-T's. I also bought American juice and I couldn't get past the flavor. This time I've done more research, bought better equipment, and I have found juice that so far I am really enjoying. So far I am enjoying the Players (Canadian style) juice. It's still pretty new, but I've been vaping it for about 3 hours, really liking it, and haven't had an analog. I am a 2PAD smoker, and I'm having a couple of beer right now, so I'm feeling really encouraged so far. I kept reading that you need to find the right juice and I'm actually thinking that I may be able to quit analogs. I know, only a few hours, but I like the taste, so I hope I can make it stick this time.

I am just as bad with the cigarettes. Everyone I know smokes and the only person more hooked than I is my Dad. He has COPD and sounds horrible when he breathes. Ikeep telling myself if I don't smarten up that will be me soon. I wheeze sometimes already! Scares the hell out of me but doesn't stop me. I can't fall asleep til I tell myself this is my last smoke for the night. It really helps to know there are other people who switched who had a strong dependency on analogs. My next purchase I think will be an ego-c with a low resistance atomizer if that's possible lol. I still have a lot to learn. I am hoping to get out to this store that sells e cigs here soon and they might be able to help me figure it all out lol. I live in Canada so there are not a lot of stores I know of that sell decent equipment. Thank you for your advice!

I am happy it is going better for you! I have american juice at the moment and it doesn't seem to have much flavour at all. Sometimes I think it tastes like burnt plastic though and wonder if I put the cartridge on wrong lol. I am interested in trying a coffee flavoured juice because I love coffee but really if it relieved my cravings I would vape pretty much any flavour lol. Good luck and thanks for your advice :)

I have used the Blu and i agree something just is missing from it when you hit those. I currently am using a Volt X2 with the X2 Clearo on it. using the 555 flavor E-Liquid the 24mg nicotine. I did not need an analog when i went over to it. i did however have to avoid the habit urg.. but it is 2 weeks now of no analogs and i feel better every day.. its amazing even how you will be able to smell better thus taste food better.. Keep it up.. keep at it and soon you too will look back and just say why.. why did i ever smoke those darn things.. lol..

It took me a couple of weeks to put down the analogs for good after smoking 1 1/2 packs of Marlboro Menthol full flavor for over 30 years.

I've tried a couple of different things from disposables to an eGo setup and although I was down to only a few analogs in the morning to kick start my day, I was still smoking. After doing a little bit of research here on ECF I got some 36mg nic juice and a couple of flavors, the next day I had no interest in analogs, the high nicotine content was enough of a kick start for me!!!

I smoked for 31 years up until 11 days ago. Anyone having issues must be buying crummy equipment or not finding a juice flavor they like. Once I got my ecig (Riva 510-T) with five 5 milliliter vials of 18 mg liquid to try, that was my last analog. No temptation for analogs whatsoever. In fact, I think vaping tastes and feels better. I was very surprised because this was my first attempt aside from trying a puff off of some gross ecig someone had a few years ago.

As far as cost, there's no excuse. It's cheaper than analogs. My whole kit (2 cigs) with the assortment of 5 vials - about 2 weeks worth, was $45. That's about a carton for me, and less than a carton for others (I used to smoke generics). Once the initial outlay is made, it's only atomizers and juice from there - about 1/5 the cost of smoking analogs.

I tried the Blu and while it was okay and I could see potential there was no way it would have worked to replace smoking for me. I had to drag too hard, and didn't really get the throat hit I needed, and being a 3 PAD smoker it was gone waaaay fast. Once I got a basic kit (I started with a variable voltage battery (I chose a 1300 MaH Vision Spinner 24.95),a 1100 mah Kgo kit for 42.99 minus an ecf 5% discount that came with 2 batteries, a charger and 2 clearomizers) and a Vivi Nova), it took me three days to be finished entirely with smoking. I know how hard money can be to come across, and how there's always something else. If you can come up with 50 bucks though you can get what you need and you'll find vaping is more than the Blu. You don't need to be an engineer, a tinkerer or a tech-head, I'm far from it. It seemed very complicated when I first got here, but it doesn't at all need to be. And you don't have to quit overnight! I know plenty of people who did, plenty who didn't. What I found, once I had a few juices and the batteries was that it felt as good as smoking, gave me all the hand-mouth/brain feel of smoking (I quit smoking for years with nicotine lozenges earlier but never stopped missing those aspects of smoking) and not only did it taste "as good"..it tasted better! The learning curve annoyed me. I'm over 50, and have chronic illness (including COPD) and my remaining brain cells don't love learning new things without a really good reason..let me tell you, if you get a decent setup it will most likely be very worth it. I never, ever feel deprived, like I sometimes did with nicotine replacement..I feel sorry now for the people I know who still smoke when they could be having all of the pleasure with none of the pain. My daughter, also a heavy smoker, thought I had lost my mind at first..until she tried it. Now she's a vaper too.

Also a note on juice. When I started I ordered menthol tobacco type juices, as for almost 40 years I smoked Newports and Kools. I found out very quickly that I didn't like them at all. I love coffee but I intensely dislike most coffee vapes. I love certain fruit vapes with a small amount of menthol. (Who would have imagined that would be good?) It's a good idea to get small sample bottles of a variety of flavors and types..read reviews, read the e-liquid section here and have an open mind. Don't get stuck on "Marlboro type" or expect what you like to eat or drink (or dislike) to translate to vaping exactly. In general, hardware vendors aren't the best liquid sources (though that is not always so) It's really common in the first months too, to find that you have days where things you liked yesterday taste awful today, and to have days where everything tastes the same-and it's all bleeccch. There is some trial and error there. However, f it tastes like burnt plastic it is probably an issue with your delivery system (cartridge, clearomizer, cartomizer)

Good luck to you! =) Stick around, read, ask questions!

I'd you're a heavy smoke, then go worth a 24mg. a quick word about the initial cost......it's worth it in the long run. the hardest part is finding the right set up. getting a variable voltage device gives you more versatility. a clearomizer, that is a clear tank type system which you refill is usually the most cost effective.and make sure your tank is coil changeable...it's a lot cheaper replacing a $3coil than a $8-12 tank. you may find that in the beginning you still want a cig in the morning, but if you keep with it you will never want another cig again!

I am sure you can do it. You just need to try. If I can do it without any analog cravings the cigarette monster I was, then almost everyone can do it. I think all that it takes is to spend that extra cash at once as an investment which will certainly have either financial, or more important a very likely health benefit. I didn't do it because I felt bad smoking or I was suffocating, etc...I can admit I absolutely adored analogs. I didn't cough, I can run with no problem and I walk almost daily 3 miles(I was smoking while walking too, now vaping :) ) and even the few times I checked my lungs, my doctor said they are in great condition for a smoker, for some unknown reason.... But everytime I smoked a cigarette I felt I am one step closer to the not so healthy future. You know how it is, one day you just wake up sick....Some people get away with it too somehow though but not many. My sister smoked a third of what I smoked and she got cancer whether or not it was cigarette related no one knows. She was lucky and got it diagnosed early. She went for a checkup suspecting something on a Monday and was operated on a Tuesday because it was a progressive type of cancer. It was fully successful and she's been great for 5 years since thanks God.

As for your first e-cigarette kit, there's plenty of online e-cigarette dedicated websites so the choice is overwhelming and the prices vary. For juice for a heavy smoker I'd go for a higher nicotine juice, 24, 26 or 36mg, or 18mg the minimum for a start, depending from person to person of course. That should do the nicotine trick really and vape as much as you feel like in the beginning to avoid any cravings for analogs. You shouldn't really want them anyway. Vaping tastes so much better. Mine is 26mg juice and I feel great, certainly not nicotine overdosed too unfortunately :) I think my body can tolerate a dose of nicotine that will kill other people :) The one thing you may feel in the beginning is slightly drier throat, but that's normal considering you'd be inhaling vapor. That got solved by drinking plenty of water and a week later I don't feel any dryness anymore.
If you want to start cheaper and just try rather than spend too much money on something that is not good enough for you, don't get a full expensive kit. The Joytech Ego-Ts batteries are super cheap at the moment and they work great for a starter but you can get the Ego variable voltage batteries too which are almost as cheap and will give you more options. Pick the parts separately, try with just one battery with charger. The Ego-T I have is a passthrough, which means you can connect it via USB to the computer charging and still vaping. It lasts me a day and a half before charges and I almost haven't used the second battery the kit came with. Get a couple of different automizers. They really give a different feeling in my opinion. Make sure you get cartridges for them if they are the tank type versions. If you like the throat hit, I'd recommend the Ego low resistance versions, the standard don't give me that harder feeling I need. I tried the Kanger T3 clearomizers as well after reading some good reviews. They don't need cartridges and can be filled with as much as 2.5-3ml of juice which makes it a lot easier. It's very nice I must say. It gives clouds and clouds of vapor, better than the standard higher resistance Ego-T automizer but it doesn't give me as much of a throat hit as the Ego-Tank low resistance automizer. However, my partner really really loves the Kanger T3 so it depends on the person. He used to smoke a lot less than me though.
I'll certainly purchase a better kit with variable wattage and voltage like the zmax or provari if I save enough money in the future. If you do that extra cash you can spend, have a look at the reveiws of these two.

And the best of luck whatever you do. There's so much good information on this website and so many helpful people that have gone through this. For some people it's harder, for others like me it was an absolutely no problem transition. And I did consider myself a heavy smoker, heavier than almost everyone I've met. As I said, everyone, even my colleagues at work told me so. Every time I speak to my mother she'd ask me to stop smoking and that's been going on for 17 years. It became like a joke between us and we both laugh when she says it, but regardless of that at the back of my mind she'd always make me think twice about going on with smoking. Still, I wen on...and on and on...I needed nearly chain smoking, especially in the morning to quench my nicotine thirst after the night sleep for example. Then I'd slow down for a bit, working too prevented me from chain smoking during the day, but then I'd go home and chain smoke again, until my partner, who also smokes would comment on my smoking almost every day. He told me I was killing myself and he's a smoker(now vaper), so imagine. Thankfully I was so tired normally that I'd go to bed early enough most days, which was probably the effect of cigarettes too because now I definately feel very energetic since vaping and it's only been a week. And I love the feeling of being cleaner somehow as well. The lack of cigarette smell stinking hands and my mouth in the mornings(although I religiously washed my hands and teeth) is just amazing.

I think I can rant about it for another 500-600 pages :) so I apologize to everyone, but there's no words to express what I feel by succeeding to switch from cigarettes to vaping without the unsuccessful struggle I went through when trying the normal methods.

Thanks, so happy your sister is okay!!! I just want to be sure I understand, I need a battery and charger preferably a variable voltage one, an atomizer, low resistance is better and a tank and cartridge or a clearomizer. Do I also need to get a mouth piece if I would prefer a smaller end? I feel silly because that might be wrong after the hours I have put in reading about this. I understand better when I can see and touch stuff. I will definately have to go in to a store to learn more about the parts lol. Also how do you know what parts are compatible?

Ive tried Blu, Green Smoke, ect. You name it I tried to quit with it. Id always be turned off by the dry fog machine type taste. It would always leave my throat super dry and scratchy. I just invested in a Joyetech eGo. This is the only type I have found to actually satisfy me without the urge to smoke a real cigarette. I gave my spare ego to my dad who has been smoking for 30 years. He has no desire to smoke a real cigarette! If you got 60 bucks id give it a shot it could increase your health a bunch! Good Luck.

I tried for three years to do the disposable stuff. Had some extra cash at Christmas and decided to actually try a local shop in town, and left with a eGo-T. Its not the best, but the last three weeks have changed my life. I am not 100% satisfied with the system I have, but looking around and doing research is the key. I also worked hard to get rid of the smell of smoke out of my life. My car is enjoyable again. My jackets don't stink.
the hardest part is being in public and catching a wiff. But controlling yourself, finding a flavor you like, you can go far.
My friends don't smoke around me or won't even smoke in there own houses. And in three weeks, I've saved enough from buying cigs, I can afford a very nice unit.
Good luck!

hey there i would suggest not going 24mg i smoked 2-2.5 packs a day of marbrol reds or camel wides throat hit is way way way to heavy and it was with a ego-t so constant fire at 3.7. My suggestion is 12-18mg of nicotine decent throat hit. I would not suggesting to go with dispossable ive tried them and you dont get the flavors or the right vapor production from them. Getting a variable voltage i would suggest so that you can get the warmth and vapor production you want out of it. just some thoughts from my experience.

aerin - it is definitely a learning process to find what you need. I just went with a kit - because I figured that would for sure give me everything I needed. However, that can likely cost more than just getting the basics. I started with the clearomizers - mainly because the tanks/carto tanks/and atomizer types really intimidated me (and still do)

I have tried the CE4 or Stardust clearomizers, the Kanger T2 and T3 and the Vivi Nova. I now have a Mini Vivi Nova on order. Originally I liked the Stardust the best - but as I have continued to vape - I am now finding that I like the Vivi Nova and the Kanger T3 better. Some of this - is really just getting started and then you can find what you like.

So basically to get started you need

2 pc Genuine Joyetech eGo-C Twist 650mAh or 1000mAh Batteries - if you don't want to start with a Twist then the eGo-C or eGo-T
2 pc eGo Vision Stardust 1 LR 1 SR (Clear) - or you could try the Viv Nova or Mini Vivi Nova or Kanger T2 or Kanger T3
1 pc USB Rapid Charger
1 pc AC Wall Adapter

I think you could get the above for approx $60 canadian plus shipping. You could get a kit that would include more for $109. Eventually you can then add to what you have.

ETA: I would probably not start higher than 18mg on the nic. I started there and have gone down to 15mg. I smoked over a PAD mild cigarettes.

Thank you! I was worried if I tried to buy separate parts I would end up with stuff that wouldn't work together lol. Are the nova's and kanger's the atomizers? If I take a puff off them do I need to take a really long slow one or can I take shorter ones? One of the things I dislike about the blu is I have to inhale until I almost gasp for air to get anything.

Those look really nice! I was wondering about the tips on the end. In pictures of kits I have looked at there isn't always those tips and the end seems to be rather large. Is that something you would purchase apart from a kit or is it just not always shown or some have them and some don't?
