Gosh, Mike! I can't agree that the the Kr8 is "crap." Yes, I have fat batts and mods now (e.g., I love my Leo and just got the Infinity yesterday). But I was not open to anything like that when I started. How many of us were? I have never regretted starting with the Kr8 ... and I've kept my hand in that world throughout: the basic skinny batteries are great (I think these Maxxy's are even better albeit pricey) and I've used the Elegant with virtually every atty. And carto quality has improved enormously since I started. [That's why I switched to the 801 early on: I didn't like the taste of Kr8 cartos.]

Also you can use Kr8 cartomizers on fat batts (e.g., my Elegant ... or on others with adapters) and on mods. And, as GrimmGreen pointed out in his video review, sometimes it's nice to puff on a little guy. Heck, I sucked on a stick about that size for 40 years: it gets ingrained.

As always: IMO ... and, as always, my strongly stated one.:D

Another drive-by by Mike Deason ... I have, love, and still use my 808 *crap* and have found no reason to upgrade to a MOD -- yet. I do admit though, I am now a lot more open to a MOD but, only as a passing thought -- the hobbyist in me heightens my curiosity.

If you want a good, high-cost hobby, I would recommend exploring the world of MODs. For me personally, I'll stick with my itty-bitty PVs as they have not only done the job, provide a satisfying overall experience, and represent the single, most painless way I ever encountered to quit smoking the really, really, bad, cancer causing, high risk product I had grown accustomed to over the last 25+ years.

These 808 variations are good for starting out but if you can get past the larger size of a good battery mod and understand the various attys and juice box options you will save ALOT of money by bypassing any 808 crap and heading straight for the stuff that can keep a hardcore smoker off cigarettes....

oh yah...I can stealth vape any mod...it's all about hiding the vapor...the device is easy to conceal.

I tend to like something that doesn't stand out sitting on my desk for when I'm at work. I get a lot of different people that stop by my cubicle, from construction contractors, vendors, and engineers, as well as my boss and co-workers. I don't want any of them to see any of my mods sitting on my desk and asking me what it is. That could very well be the last I'd ever get to vape unnoticed at my desk. With standard e-cigs, I just put them with a group of pens on my desk, and no one ever notices. That, and on the off chance someone sees me sticking an e-cig in my mouth at work, they just assume I'm chewing on a pen.

So yes, a really good, standard sized e-cig has a place for even the hardcore mod users like me. Sometimes a mod just isn't practical at all.

If I really couldn't hide an 18650 mod I'd get a small batt mod like the SuperT Precise 10440. No more 808 Kits..thanks.

They are a novelty or stepping stone that should be bypassed if you want to save a ton of $$$ and are serious about vaping over smoking.

An 808 kit mabe good if you're a light smoker...if not, you will soon move on.

You mean... you will soon move on. I know lots of vets who still use 808s. I still use 808 cartos on my mods, as well.

And a SuperT Precise 10440 would stand out on my desk, even if it is a thin mod, just as much as my Infinity would. Standard size ecigs are a bit easier to make blend in.

I am sorry but what is the difference between a kr808 and a 10440 mod? The bloog is 320mah the 10440 is 350....the 30 mah difference is hardly earth shattering, either way most of us are going to have to carry an extra battery. They both operate at the same voltage. You can get 10440 batteries for 5 bucks but that cost savings is quickly overshadowed by the $100+ dollar price tag on the mod itself and the 10440 battery total life span is no better than a kr808's expected life span.

I have to disagree. I was a 1.5-2 PAD smoker for decades. I now vape a BMF. Two cartos (sometimes I'm on to the third by bedtime) get me through a day.

Sometimes you have to ask yourself "am I doing this as a replacement for smoking, or have I found a new hobby?"

I want a replacement for smoking, not yet another expensive hobby. The handling of something small like a KR808 mimics the handling of a cigarette. I have an eGo kit that sits unused, because the experience was not at all cigarette-like, and I kept smoking analogs. The BMF handles so much like a cigarette I have to remind myself that I'm not smoking. I even absently primer-puff it like a cigarette, which isn't even needed on the BMF batteries.

I'm sold on this system. Big mods are nice, but aren't for everyone. I wanted something as cigarette-like as possible, and a KR808 system like this is ideal.

Nice review, Don. :)

It's easy to say that in hindsight - after you've spent hundreds of dollars progressing through the different "phases" of vaping. I, like Don (and probably most others that are honest with themselves), was NOT open to any sort of funky looking, high powered mod when I first started vaping. I genuinely did not care how much better mods performed since I wanted something that would allow me to blend in with my friends when I was out having a "smoke" with my new e-cig. It's important that we keep in mind that although we are older and wiser now that we are experienced vapers, people who are new to vaping usually want something that closely resembles an analog. You and I know that isn't the best device for them, but people who have been smoking for years and years don't care what we think.

The point is that these devices certainly have their place and I love hearing about advancements in mini technology like the BMF. I personally don't own one, but since reading Don's review have busted out my V4L Vapor King and have been puffing away on it enjoying the nostalgia.

Thanks for the awesome unbiased review, Don.

Speaking of the "phases" of vaping, check out "4 Stages of Vaping" (entry V020) in the Vacuous Vaping Video Contest. I think most of us will identify with both sides of the conversation.:) [NOTE: I am not trying to pull votes away from Gary's V031 entry ... or any others. Watch them while you're there as well. They are all enjoyable ... and some are hilarious.]

And continuing thanks to all for your compliments about the review! I am particularly pleased to see that word "unbiased." I had some concern whether the perception of impartiality would be compromised by Bloog's advertising on VapingGuides.

[BTW, whatever inner battles I might otherwise have to fight to maintain the reality of impartiality are obviated by having so many different advertisers on VapingGuides. We have no financial incentive to push any one advertiser over another, e.g., Bloog over Vapor4Life, CigEasy, or VaporNine (and those are just the advertisers specializing in the Kr8). <-- Please buy lots of Kr8 stuff from all of them.]

My wife is still happy as a clam with her KR8 after over 15 months. She will take a puff off of one of my REO's once in a while, just to taste whatever I happen to be vaping, but she has absolutely no interest in a mod. I did get her a couple of PigCig batteries which she uses on occasion, but that's it.

My wife likes the 808's stil causes they Look Good...she's more about looks and visual presentaion to her peers than a better quality a Nicotine delivery System....women have a different perspective on things...keeps it interesting.

lol,

I guess every man who drives a nice looking car, owns a nice looking house, and uses a sleek looking cell phone is just channeling his inner woman OR aesthetics is not gender dependent and some of us are socially conscious enough to realize that a 18650 mod with a map tank on it looks more like a chemical explosive than a nicotine delivery system.

It really depends on what you like as a vaper, if you don't like anything shy of 9 total watts then obviously your going to need a mod to satisfy your craving, but if you are happy with 8.5 and down then there are plenty of less bulky options available to you, battery life dependent of course, and the kr808 is a true 3.7 (3.6 for the bloog) device with a moderate battery life.

I find an ego with a 2ohm attomizer is enough with many juices to get a good flavor/vapor combination. That is the same wattage as this bloog is putting out or any kr808 running a 2.4 ohm cartomizer.

There are practical reasons for needing a smaller device as well, some of us do work outside, I often have to carry my pv in my pocket, I keep the mods in the vehicle but I can't just be lugging around a ggts everywhere I go and watch it get banged around in the work environment.

I'm with PapaBloog on this (and I didn't even base my screen name on the product;)): Leaford done good with the V4L Premiums and Wows; he done great with the Maxxy cartos ... and batts.

As for something the size and shape of an analog being...

...kinda a chick thing...

I am really impressed by the Maxxfusion cartos. I bought a pack of five unfilled to try out on my Buzz and they work extremely well. Definitely one of the best(if not the best) polyfill style 808 cartos I have tried.

I like them so much I am planning on purchasing a kit. It will be a nice change of pace to have a super small pv to take out to eat or shopping sometimes. I'm sure they won't replace my Buzz or Infinity but a mini sized pv worth using would be nice to have around.

I just got my MF batt about a week ago and initially I was not impressed. I used it with a few boiled carto's (V2 & V4L Wow's) I had laying around, not much vapor at all. Needless to say I was not very happy, (juice was wow coyboy, btw.) The next day I was using a V4L Cool Cart on my power cig (5v passthru) with some BWB Casablanca and figured I would give it another shot. It clicked, the right carto (juice is pretty damn good too) and I'm blowing clouds of vapor. I really like this mini and without bashing any other supplier/retailer specifically I would have to say this is the best I've seen hands down. I too enjoy the smaller PV and it has helped me to get off analogs completly for 2 1/2 months now, so I'm gonna stick with em for little while to come.

Question - The Cool Carts seem to work very well, does anyone know if the problems with the Maxxfusion carto's has been solved? If so I would like to try them, from Sorrid's review they sound pretty good.
