I quote myself from another post:

"Thats what i've been trying to say. But it may not be a gauntlet as we think. I draw examples from Singapore and Australia. Both countries has banned ecigs officially. Singapore has a complete ban, with customs having full knowledge of what an ecig is. I've heard that the Australia ban only covers a specific region. I'm not sure about this.

Singapore might be a small Asian country but have the toughest rules and enforcement around the world.

Personal EMS parcels are STILL getting through in these countries. The same even for Thailand, as far as i know.

For the time being, Chinese retail seems to be the answer for vapers. Thats what i'm advising to my US friends anyway. That is, until we score a victory against the FDA or when a ruling that goes in our favor is in place."

I was planning on ordering a Titan starter kit tomorrow, now that I've been reading this forum I'm a little hesitant. What should I do? I was planning to order from a USA company. Should I wait to see what happens on the 5th?

randyc--If you are ordering from a company here in the US and they have the product in stock--then there is no customs issue and it would be shipped before any ban--so why would you wait--so long as they say the product is in stock--grab it----Sun

Just remember, there is not a formal ban - yet. FDA is holding some orders at the border, right now they seem to be just hitting the larger ones, and they have a list of known suppliers selling ecigs.

We may all be thinking that the ban is imminent, but there are now questions circulating on the authenticity of the EM. Smoke up the ....? Dunno. We'll know on the 5th.

Up to you, ultimately, to decide your comfort zone for risk factors....

The government has a lot to lose if the e-cig really takes off. Tobacco products really help the governments bottom line, not just because of the taxes, but because it is in their best interest for you to die before collecting social security, and before you collect medicare.

Think about it. If people were to suddenly stop using tobacco products, there would be an influx of retirees getting ready to collect social security and begin using medicare benefits.

Even if you get COPD, lung cancer, at say, age 60, you will most likely have a drastically reduced life span. You may utilize a small portion of your SS benefits and some of your medicare benefits. But compared to your non smoking counterparts, you will utilize a LOT LESS of the money.

So if you die at age 68, you would have only utilized 3 years of benefits. Your non smoking counterpart might live to be 78, that is 10 more years of collecting government benefits.

So it is in the gov't interest to keep tobacco and to outlaw any other product that would be healthier.

My take on the FDA position is that they are concerned with the "delivery system". The fact that the newest e-cigs look so much like cigarettes can cause young people to want to "look cool" by smoking one. So I'm not so sure I disagree with them there.
It was a big mistake by the manufacturers to switch from the "pen" style to the "Marlboro" style. They really showed up on the radar of the ban smoking groups when they did that. I think a good compromise would be to ban the "Marlboro" style. A good example would be the banning of candy cigarettes years ago, smokers didn't have a problem with that.
I'm sure anybody who really enjoys vapeing wouldn't have a problem with getting rid of the "Marlboro" styles.

how about the banning of "candy" tasting liquid... not only do they look "cool" they taste "cool"..

in the attempts to sell millions of these things the industry is generating all the best reasons for banning them..

harm reduction is only a valid argument to those already addicted.. stopping a whole generation of new addicts will win the day...

they wont mess about.. if it comes it will be a total ban.. it might not.. lets hope it dosnt..

I'm not convinced young people will think these things are 'cool'. My nieces and nephews tell me it makes me look like a tw*t. They're probably correct :)

You youngins forget! The gov't tried to ban booze way back when. Didn't work too well, did it?

See ya at the "Vape easy"...

True - but how long did it take our government to admit they made that particular mistake?

And, once they admitted the mistake, how long did it take them to reverse it?
