It was a big mistake by the manufacturers to switch from the "pen" style to the "Marlboro" style. They really showed up on the radar of the ban smoking groups when they did that. I think a good compromise would be to ban the "Marlboro" style. A good example would be the banning of candy cigarettes years ago, smokers didn't have a problem with that.

I wouldn't have tried a PV that didn't looked like a cigarette. I realize *now* that I don't need it to, but it's a huge factor in what made me try it in the first place.

My husband has recently started vaping, and he wants the njoy with a white battery and an orange LED. I'd never have gotten him to try this with anything that didn't look like a cigarette.

Just sayin'...

My take on the FDA position is that they are concerned with the "delivery system". The fact that the newest e-cigs look so much like cigarettes can cause young people to want to "look cool" by smoking one. So I'm not so sure I disagree with them there.

I'm sure anybody who really enjoys vapeing wouldn't have a problem with getting rid of the "Marlboro" styles.
Smoking hasn't been "cool" for a long time. I'm thinking of the most tactfull way to say this, but nothing's coming to mine, so here it is - kids don't know who the hell James Dean, Marlon Brando, et al are. If you showed a teenager the Marlboro man without the logos - he'd think "uncool, dirty redneck." The images of "cool" that are in the minds of the generation that currently drive public policy are not anywhere near what's "cool" anymore.

I can tell you as a twenties smoker - there's no quicker way to be in the uncool club than lighting up a cigarette.

As for flavors - what's your favorite ice cream? Any answer you give is a "kid friendly" flavor, and yet you like it don't you? You are more likely to buy it because of it's taste, and yet you aren't a kid. Their target audience - the only age group they should be selling too (and btw, haven't heard of a confrimed case of single juvenile sale yet) is adults, and their making flavors that their adult audience buys. I don't get the flavor thing at all! It's gotta taste like ..., or it's marketing kids? Give me a break!

You know everyone talks about "Kids" getting a hold of these. It's been said many times on here kids don't have the money to spend on these things, plus they've done everything they can to keep kids from getting smokes and they still find a way. As a parent of 3 kids who talks to them all the time about smoking, and not to follow in my footsteps. If they did smoke I would rather them smoke an e-cig to analog. Call me a horrible parent but if my kids did pick up this rotten addiction and I couldn't get them to stop, I would settle for the lesser of 2 evils, some kids will pick up smoking no matter how hard we try as parents. Not saying I want my kids to get into this, I do talk to them about the nicotine addiction, but if they would not stop smoking no matter what my efforts. I would rather them make the e-cig choice than all the other choices out there.

there, now feel free to tell me what a horrible rotten dirty parent I am for even suggesting this.

Safira you are absolutely right, we as parents try our best to guide our children, but in the end they still are going to do what they want to. Children are more resourceful than we give them credit for.
My parents tried everything to sway me away from smoking and some of the other bad things I have done.
My youngest child smoke's. She is 28 years old. :(
My oldest child doesn't want anything to do with it. She's 30 years old:)

Minnesota bans the "candy" but they just banned it a couple of weeks ago. Candy isn't banned. I can buy those white sugar cigarettes in the candy store at the mall. Online, too.
